Looking forward to this (March 21). Hope it delivers. The books were great.
(ducks incoming shots at Benioff and Weiss)
This site is a bit of a primer: https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/3-body-problem-teaser-release-date
I’ve reread the series several times and recognized very little from the trailers. This being one of my all-time favorite series, I have major concerns B&W are improvising far too much. They did such a great job adapting GOT seasons 1-5, I had high hopes for this. I’ll watch but my expectations are greatly diminished.

Given the loss I’m actually glad I started Dry January, though it took forever to fall asleep last night without the aid of booze. I woke up sad and somewhat disappointed, which is better than sad and somewhat disappointed and hungover. Got to enjoy my last vacation day today with my kids without feeling like dogshit.
After most losses I want no part of reading sports sites or Reddit. We did well enough in the game (and season) that I don’t mind this time. Better team won.

My wife has only been married to me when Texas football has been awful. I’m afraid she is in for a rude awakening of what it looks when I am 100% invested. Although the Astros playoff runs are a good corollary.
I got married well after 2005. After we beat Alabama in September, she sensed a disturbance in the force. I’ve been utterly insufferable since 11:20am Sunday.

Whatever else happens this season, damn if this wasn’t cathartic.
Like all Sundays, I was a contented and attentive father and husband. I woke up early to clean up the kitchen of all the bourbon and queso so my wife could wake up to a clean house. I played Ninja Turtle “sword fight” with my 6-year-old, played Minecraft with my 10-year-old, and watched terrible anime with my 13-year-old. I mowed. I napped. I was happy to provide, same as always. But goddamn if I wasn’t just a smidge happier and more graceful to my family today. It’s been so long since Texas football was an actual source of pride or happiness. It’s not necessary to my or my family’s wellbeing, but it sure as shit was something I forgot how much I valued the last 15 years.
Thank you to the players and boosters who brought the right people together. It’s gonna be a good ride. I feel it.

There is no personality, no areas of merit to explore, no natural settings to take in and appreciate, and no legitimate entertainment options (Dixie Chicken/northgate does not count). It fucking sucks and it is still mindblowing to me when a recruit decides to attend school there.
I married an Aggie. We had to visit there for a wedding, and the wife wanted to bring the kids to show off her old stomping grounds for a long weekend. It took about three hours after arriving before she asked me to Google what to do with the kids for the next two days. We ended up at a third rate bowling alley and other bullshit. Kids have never asked to go back.

Granted I don’t watch a ton of soccer these days, but that was one of the best individual skill goals I’ve ever seen.

Have a buddy coming into town from Baltimore who has never seen a real game.

Someone help me understand the red. The Swede had equal right to the ball and got there first. His foot didn’t unnaturally linger maliciously.

as I read it any additional money you are trying to claim for effort you put into checking your credit reports or otherwise dealing with an issue from a breach is what requires more documentation
I could be wrong, but it looks like you only need to provide documentation if you claim more than 10 hours. I entered 2 hours, and all they asked was that I describe my actions, approximate time spent, and the date I took the actions.

My wife and I got back from our Paris trip three weeks ago. For our last night we took one last stroll to the cathedral and were surprised to see a choir practicing some hymns just outside the front doors. There were only a few people around, so it felt like a private concert just for us. My wife is a weeping mess right now.

Wife dropped her phone yesterday and cracked the screen. Today she got the screen replaced and, to show me that the replacement worked, she sent a screenshot.
She immediately realized her mistake, but still. Goddamn.

sunday july 3, 1994, saudi arabia v sweden at the cotton bowl. 90 degrees at noon kickoff getting to 94 by the end of the game. there was no shelter from the sun. it was unbearably hot on those bleachers. and the game wasn't interesting despite 4 goals.
I was at this game as an 11-year-old. My dad spent probably $40 on a Saudi Arabia hat because he liked the color green. Pre-9/11 obviously.

How does this even come up in conversation?
Interviewer: “Who’s the hardest player you’ve had to cover in space?”
TO: “I don’t understand what the hell you’re even talking about which is why I had to transfer out from a perfectly fine situation and into Lubbock fucking Texas.”
