I would never start a motocross guy at QB in the playoffs, so Hunter Lawrence is out.

I’m an Eagles guy, but I also wouldn’t want my season to end with Derek fucking Carr.

    I'm rolling with Gardner Minshew.

  2. Start/Sit advice please!!!  QB options:

Hunter Lawerence at the Jets on a short week of practice in mid 40's weather with a 50% chance of rain

Derek Carr at Pittsburgh in 12 degree weather.

or do I pick up Gardner Minshew at Dallas and start him once they declare Jalen Hurts out officially?

I need to sit one of the following 6 players:

    Josh Jacobs/Joe Mixon/David Montgomery

    Tee Higgins/Michael Pittman/Adam Thielen.

Tough decisions to make this week in round one of the playoffs.

  3. I have an AR with a side charging handle.  The screw came loose and the charged handle popped off while shooting.  Couldn't find the little screw.  Anyone know of gun shop in west houston that would have that part?  Thx!

  4. Unfortunately, the pandemic killed this project.  They lost their equity commitments and will never be able to finance this thing.  I heard this level 2 from someone who use to work at Texas Central.  Go to the website, there is no executive team listed; They don't have anyone working on this anymore.  Now if the federal government actually wanted a a real shovel ready infrastructure project...

  5. I hosted a party last month and via getting my wife's friends drunk, I qualified for the Total wine Pappy & Antique drawing.  First time trying this...I set my priority for the cheaper bottles thinking that may set me up better to win something.  (Assuming that everyone puts Pappy 20 & 23 YR as the top priority.)  I have like 30k points.  Do I have a shot at "winning" something?  I'm sure the surly elite in this thread are familiar with this process.

Oh really, is that what q told him?  This guys seems like a dolt lol.

Yeah; the kid didn't seem super bright.  He says he "heard" that most police departments are switching back to 9MM so there will less large scale need for .40 cal.  I wasn't going to argue with him bc I don't know shit.

19 and 23 are the same gun….one is just 9mm and the other is .40. But the 9mm 19 is the gold standard in 9mm striker fired pistols. It just is. The .40 variant had issues early on in its life, but doesn’t now.

9 vs 40 is a debate that has gotten more interesting in the last 15 years or so. The 9mm cartridge now is much better than it was years ago. Powders and bullets have been iterated on this platform more so than any other pistol cartridge probably. 9mm is cheaper, easier to shoot, and just as effective really.

I have a 19. Ive had 4 and the 19 would be the last gun I sell. The Sig 320 platform is very nice, and I’ve migrated to that in a sense because it’s different and I shoot them well.

If this is your first pistol (not revolver) get a 19. Gen5.5 would be the one I’d get if I was you.

I’d then add a 300BO pistol (9” barrel) to take with you around the ranch.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  8. I want a smallish pistol for carrying on the deer lease.  Putting down hogs or a wounded deer or whatever.  I need to go shoot one before I buy, but based upon a limited internet searching, the 23 seems a great gun for that.  Lightweight and plenty of power.  I have an old Colt 38 special revolver but it's pretty heavy and I kinda want a new gun anyways, but by all means, talk me into something else if there are better options out there!

  9. I've had my eye on a Glock 23 for a while.  Popped into academy on Westheimer to buy something else and stopped by the gun counter.  The dude working told me he has heard rumors that manufacturers might stop making .40 cal ammo which seems entirely silly since A. so many cops use that caliber and B. they can't make it fast enough now.  What do you guys hear?

  10. Anyone have recs for 1-6x24 optic for an AR?  Will be using it on hogs, target shooting, etc.  7.62x39 AR. Would like to spend less than $500.  The Vortex Strike Eagle seems like a good buy at $299.  Thanks for any suggetions.

  11. Yeah blacked out but conscious and passed out are very different things.  If he went to town on her when she was out cold, then that is clearly rape, but if she was conscious, how was he to have known she was blacked out and didn't know what she was doing?  No way to prove any of this.  Bad deal for all parties involved unfortunately.

Is smoke wagon small batch a buy for ya'll at $55? I passed, but am wondering if I should buy it if I see it again

I think so.  Where did you see it?

Yeah, don't know to be honest where to find that. I can say though that it is too late for this storm. There is no way to really "buy" any right now as there is none for sale. The wells started freezing off which is causing this mess, so no gas is moving in many pipelines. Combined with wind turbines freezing off as well and you better hope your power grid has ample coal plants or you're in for trouble.   All will be back to normal in a week, but this week will be rough.

MonkeyDoughnut with a very prescient post...Sunday Morning at 7:20 AM before all this shit started.

You should buy two. One for now and one for later because it’s fucking good.

I did that last week...The Kirkwood/Westheimer location has a few as well.  It's delicious.

What's the allure, portability?  Seems pretty basic and expensive for the backyard.  You can get something a lot nicer and bigger for that price.

There is basically no smoke.  All the benefits of a campfire without the campfire smell lingering in your clothes, hair, etc.

  16. The space city weather guys have the most confidence in the UKMET which I think is the blue line above.

What does the 12z data show? Several models have made slight adjustments eastward today, but the most significant movement has come from the UKMET model, produced by the United Kingdom. This is not the world’s best global forecast model, but it is competitive, and something we often look at. In the case of Laura, it has had some of the best performance to date since tracking began a few days. This meant we have weighted it a little bit higher for this storm.

One of the things that has concerned us is that the UKMET, although an outlier, had been frequently bringing Laura to the central or upper Texas coast. This would have placed Houston, Galveston, and the upper Texas coast on the powerful right side of the storm. However, in a just released run of the model, the storm’s landfall location has made a sizable jump east, from near Corpus Christi to the Texas-Louisiana border

  17. I have two nephews at aggy.  Both have Covid now.  Virtually everyone they know has symptoms.  They had rush week last week and there was no social distancing, no masks worn.  1000's of dumb kids partying and going from house to house to house.  They are going to fuck up college football for all of us.

I have been on the 303 km/hr train out of Shanghai a few times and it rocks. Laptop room and a place for a water bottle. Bottle never moves.

Love to see how these high speed trains dodge deer and pigs in december at 9p around centerville, that's the engineering feat that will amaze me. Maybe a 20 foot wedge designed by Ranch Hand?

The project will be “grade separated,” which means it will cross over or under all public roads and will have no intersections with people or vehicles, so there will be no cars waiting on trains to pass and no risk of trains interacting with cars.

From the Texas Central website.  I don't think wildlife will have the opportunity to get close to the tracks.

  19. I know of a company in Houston that is leasing a space in an office building parking garage to open per code, what is a food truck, but is really an 18 wheeler sized kitchen in a trailer that will never move.  They will cook/prepare multiple restaurants/chains food and deliver via ubereats.  You cannot walk up to the counter and order.  Will be interesting to see how it works.  It's good revenue for the building owners.
