    Quote

With less than a minute left, Texas faced a fourth-down desperation play from USC's eight-yard line.

The name of the play Texas ran was "Gun Left Jack Menu Two"—a quick slant pass to the outside receiver. Although fans and commentators fixate on a team's huddle before such a crucial moment, Texas had basically decided what play it would run in this spot days before the game.

"One of the things we do—and I'll do it before this game with Colt—is ask, if you have one play from the 5, what's your play?" says Mr. Davis, the Texas offensive coordinator. Four years ago, he says, Mr. Young said "quarterback draw," a running play for himself that would initially look like a pass play, but he correctly predicted the coordinator would prefer a slant, a quick throw to a receiver.

"I told him, 'The only reason my play is better than yours is, if mine's not open, it becomes a draw,'" Mr. Davis says. In the end, Mr. Young wound up sprinting to the right corner of the end zone to win the day for the Longhorns and deprive USC of a third consecutive national championship (one of which was shared).

This program needs a perception change regionally and nationally and this would help a fuck ton. Plus he’ll get other kids to sign here as well.

Having him as a qb would be great but all the other players that would follow would be huge.

If he gets one competent offensive lineman to sign here then it's a huge win.

All of the above!  Goddamn, we aren't sending men to the moon here.

We just went 5-7 overall and 3-6 in conference.  We are bent over and duct-taped to the saw-horse right now.  We need something..anything...to get us kick-started again.

We sign Mullet and he brings other kids that always wanted to play on the 40 anyhow...

  3. I got a motherfucker of an eye-twitch.  Not enough water is what the interwebs say.  That and, quit drinking caffeine.  Thefuck?

My eyesight in general has deteriorated rapidly over the past 5 years.  I can't read a fucking thing without glasses now.

Youth is wasted on the young.

Any major program, like Texas, has skeletons in the closet so I don't doubt for a second that the "Texas can't fire Plonsky because she knows where the bodies are hidden" narrative has a lot of truth to it.

And Plonsky is definitely a big enough bitch to let all that air out if Texas fires her.

    100% accurate!

This woman is a true believer skewing directly to the feminist side of the the political spectrum.  She abhors the "patriarchal nature" of college athletics and wouldn't think twice about going scorched earth on Texas if she were removed.

  5. Been doing this a long time. These games always suck dick.  I hate having to deal with the ousucks fans living in Dallas after one of these losses...they are insufferable cunts. But...this is what happens when we let 19yo's determine our happiness on Saturdays in the Fall.  (little shits)

One good thing to come out of this game is that Powder got sat.  Never liked that douche ever since he gave Horns Down when he signed with the dirt burglars.

One bad thing to come out of this game is that #13 is now QB1 at ousucks.  He good.

In general, this game is why we can't have nice things.

Isn't it funny that Riley doesn't appear to be a mastermind when he's not gifted an experienced graduate transfer QB? OU's OL is straight up ass this season, ISU was able to pressure Rattler often. They're lacking a Hollywood Brown or Lamb threat at WR as well.....Rambo isn't that guy. Nobody that stands out in their crop of backs, either. Injuries and opt outs decimated their backfield. Fuck'em!

Lot of truth up above.  Emphasis is mine.

Not really. This is all a bunch of jerking off. I've made my peace long ago that Vince crossing the goal line on 4th and 5 was probably the absolute highlight I was going to see for the rest of my life as a Texas fan. We're 15 years from that moment. Soon to be 16. We've had a lost decade of mediocrity. This is almost a systemic issue with this program. It's not just on the head coach. It's a culture of mediocrity. I get angry at myself for even giving a shit every Saturday.

    (emphasis is mine...)

    Succinct.  Articulate.  +1 for insightful.

We haven’t win the most CWSs ever, and haven’t won one in the last 15 years. We’re not the Yankees of college baseball; if anything we’re the Cowboys of college baseball...

They weren't honored as symbols of racism.  They were honored for being essential cornerstones upon which a great institution has been built.  If there is one otherwise (and there may be), then I'd support removing it.

Heroes do not have to be gods.  We can accept their failures and still celebrate their achievements.

So I voted no to all

I would support Whittier getting further recognition as a part of this expansion or a future one.  A section in the HOF for the earliest black athletes would be nice as well.

    +1 for insightful.

    Lot of truth here.

  10. Just finished this on Netflix.

Done well.  No doubt has a slant toward Koresh however, what I'm more concerned about is the depicted abuse of power by the alphabet-soup-federal-agencies involved.  Did the ATF/FBI really fuck up as bad as was represented in the series?

Look - Koresh was a nutjob...no doubt.  However, those people were US citizens and, based on what I just watched, they were denied due-process, life, and liberty.

Part of me is pretty pissed off about all this.

Part of me is just amazed at how pathetic the people that followed Koresh were.
