No one’s personal perspective is going to change anyone’s opinion. To be fair, there are valid points on both sides. The fact that it has become political is pathetic. I highly doubt most of us staying at home want this shit. Unless you are agoraphobic or a lazy asshole who just wants to stay at home we all want to go back to work.
I do not think I am picking a side but every time Trump speaks he gives ammunition to the media. Period. Doesn’t matter what side you are on. It’s like handing a loaded gun and more bullets to people that don’t care for you.
My brother (who posts on here not this thread but I wish he would) works every day in hospitals in the Austin area. He is my hero. Just as are the people around him and work in other places. What pisses me off is this has become some kind of “what if we had done this” vs “”we didn’t do enough”  vs “the figures are wrong” vs “yes the figures are wrong but it’s Trump’s fault” vs the figures are wrong but it is “just a virus.”

I realize take it to the cloak room of bs. Honestly I get it. Just say how y’all feel. Either you think this is bs and screw it. Go back to normal and whoever dies dies. Or you say the only reason you don’t want things to go back to normal is because you are into people getting paid for sitting on their asses. Or you say hey let’s see this for what it is an unprecedented virus and we do not know what it can do.  But this subtly is the suck. Just say what you fucking mean. Pick a goddamn camp. Since this virus is unprecedented let’s go. Just stop with the whole debate about figures and whether or not they are right. My two cents.

    Haha. What?!

Who was the dipshit who predicted that we would have <25k deaths by April 15?

I believe the dipshit you’re searching for is dahobbs, but the number was 45k. I don’t think there has been a single death prediction in the thread that hasn’t come in under. Unless you side with Texarcher that ‘few’ means 14 days.

It's working in LA but thats because no one can afford the fine for being arrested.  I drove from Longbeach to my house on saturday a normally 30-40 min drive was 18 min.  freeways are a ghost town  took me 30 min to get inside a grocery store yesterday due to the line and a few in at a time.  Folks arent congregating in large groups for what i can see.  even in OC and south where the beaches are still open not many surfers in the water on glassy good days

Most of the OC beaches are closed as well. I heard Newport is still open, but the rest are shut down. Laguna closed their beaches earlier than LA county. In general, OC is following LA county rules/suggestions with a few day lag.

So does the Orlando Sentinel. That’s not how statistics work, bruh.

You have to take the total tests given as it relates to the population of said state.  That makes Florida 23rd on the list which isn’t very good at all.

Lighten up Francis. He was giving total tests figures and you asked where the numbers were coming from.

Where are you seeing Florida is doing the 2nd most testing in the country?  Is there a link for this?

because a quick google search shows articles from Orlando and Miami stating Florida is doing one of the worst jobs when it comes to testing.  Per the Orlando Sentinel, Florida ranks 23rd per capita in testing.  As of 2 days ago, Florida has tested 1% of their entire state’s population.

    Worldometers backs it up.

This is what happens when you pop in and out of a thread this busy and assume you’re the only person seeing it straight. There’s been a ton of discussion about what has been done well or poorly here, down to a city by city level, as well as overseas.

The difference between the discussions of such matters on this thread and what posters with this kind of take think, which shows up bizarrely regularly from the same old lot of them, is that no one here is cutting themselves in anguish of how terrible the United States is. Some of us don’t share the same perspective that we fucking suck as a country and are the dumbest pieces of shit on the planet. The whoa is me that we should be more like the fucking bawlers in Europe or the subverted and submissive in southeast Asia is a perverted tune sung by bitches self-selected into the Surly Chorus of Fates.

Why?  Because the lower CFR makes you feel better?

You know there are a lot more deaths than reported as well, right?

Should we guess how many cases we think there are, and guess how many deaths there are, and use that number instead?

Feel free to do so if you want.  I won't feel the need to quote you, and tell you how ridiculous I think you are.

It’s not an accurate reflection of the intent of the CFR figure. We don’t know cases by a magnitude and we obviously don’t have a perfect grasp on deaths. However, CFR is intended to predicted the likelihood of death if you contract the illness and the numbers you’re using for that are wrong. If you want to put the data out, go ahead, but take the care to label it correctly.

Straw man alert!  I said no such thing, ctj.  And I'm done talking to all of your socks, you disgraceful shit.

I mean, this account hadn't posted in 48 hours, yet here you are minutes after I called out ctj for being your puppeteer...

But the death toll in America will absolutely hit five figures in the next few days.  It may hit six figures in the next few weeks.  It's not unthinkable that it hits seven figures before we get a vaccine.

I forgot that you count few as 9 or 10. So yes. You’re right 🙄

We're now in the tens of thousands of dead in America alone, and you want to claim victory because it took 10 days and "that's more than several days, Archer, you idiot."  Mkay.

Everyone in the medical community is telling us to brace for a couple of very bad weeks.  Places like NYC are warning that they could be out ventilators by today.  And you don't give a shit.  You have an agenda, for whatever reason, to minimize this and to credit America's response to this.  Only a fool could possibly believe such a thing.  We had more warning than Italy and Spain and we're going to pass them in deaths, by a lot.  And you don't give a shit.  And that's your right, but I'm done talking to you.  Your entire demeanor on here makes me sick.

In your ‘few’ days post you also claimed 100,000 in two weeks. It was unsupported bullshit and you got called on it and subsequently proven wrong. Get over it. Less people are dead. Be happy.

So no discussion of Frances numbers from yesterday, or did I miss it?  They ordered their “lockdown” on 3/15. According to the worldometer site their deaths almost tripled yesterday. Was this a backlog on cause of death declaration, or are we riding this exponential up to 10k dead per day by Tuesday?

    Backlog from nursing home deaths

Um, it's been 7 days and we're at almost 6,000.

    By 9 or 10 days, it'll break 10,000.

I guess you're quibbling over the word "few"?

    That's your big victory?

If I thought you were a real person, I'd be mortified.  But you're obviously trolling by doing this Fox News bullshit in a thread where people can't give you the response you deserve without getting political.  It must be great fun for you.

Nobody means 9-10 days when they say a few and you’re going to miss your 100,000 dead in a few weeks too.

it’s ok to just be wrong sometimes

It's not.  The words are right there.  You can't even read what you quoted.

I can't fathom how you're not banned yet.

This is not what you said on 3/26?
