  1. Ok. I’m pretty sure that it’s been brought up, but why about people like me that don’t have kids, yet pay school taxes? It seems like you have no issue with the government forcing expenditures by citizens, as a principle. Your objection is strictly a matter of scope and size, I guess? * ETA: The “you can choose not to drive” comment is interesting. See, if I choose to not own a vehicle, then I don’t have to pay, because by not owning/operating a vehicle, I pose no risk to others which is why it’s ok. There is no way to opt out of getting sick/injured, which does pose a financial risk to others.
  2. Like auto liability insurance?
  3. I give few shits about anyone’s attacks, as long as the vote Dem in 2020 if the nomination isn’t “their guy”. I’m skeptical about the loyalty of Bernie supporters, which is why I asked BT for his level of commitment to ANY Dem nominee. I don’t think I’ve gotten an answer from him yet, but maybe I missed it. For the record, there isn’t anyone on the Dem slate or even remotely possibly on that slate that I wouldn’t not pull the lever for in 2020.
  4. My only take is that the most important quality/issue from now until 2020 is “can the candidate beat Trump”? That’s literally the only thing that matters to me right now. Empty suit, progressive, centrist, etc. every alternative is better than 4 more years of DOTARD.
  5. NSIAP, but I read an article the other day which highlighted the numerous Bernie 2016 social media staffers that joined Beto 2020.
  6. Ok. Cool. Hook ‘em. IF Bernie doesn’t get the nomination, will you be voting for that democratic candidate in 2020, no matter what? I’m genuinely curious as to your stance on that choice.
  7. Flipping trump voters isn’t necessarily the endgame required to win the general. People always ignore the factors of getting Trump voters to stay home because they don’t hate the opponent as much and getting voters who say out 2016 to come back and vote Dem.
  8. Title of that clip is trollish AF
  9. Easier than that... He is going to be completely taken apart by women, because of his perceived role in getting Clarence Thomas confirmed after the Anita Hill stuff.
  10. Actually, they only got the confirmation needed to run the story on the condition that they not publish until after the election.
  11. Very, but that influence pales in comparison to the impact of maintaining the endorsement of LE agencies when elections for DA occur. * This is especially true in Texas because we love to breathe through our mouths, grunt, and pull the lever for whoever seems to be “tough on crime”. ** No CR
  12. This. About 1/3 of my practice is in CPS court, and they live for situations like this.
  13. You are still millions of times safer traveling the gauntlet on 35 in Temple than you are almost anywhere in Killeen.
  14. I just learned that “Allie” was Pete’s gf in real life many years ago. Also, I really enjoyed I’m Dying Up here. Didn’t realize that it was cancelled.
  15. Fuck your cloak room race-adjacent troll post.

  17. Doesn’t the article quote the parties involved, who say that either they received no threats or that the threats didn’t factor into their decision.
  18. Keep in mind that this same DA, less than 2 months ago, in front of the same grand jury... had a Temple P.O testify under oath, while on paid leave, due to him being investigated for felony criminal conduct. I can’t speak to what that conduct might be. However, I can tell you that he is not allowed on TPD property and currently has an injunction prohibiting ANY communication, or contact with any of his minor children. They give no fucks.

Flood plains render the half mile estimate laughably inaccurate.
  20. I’m pretty sure that I had to be reminded once every month that they won’t serve you if you walk through the drive thru.
  21. Carnival has a significant amount of people riding scooters for non-recreational reasons.
  22. I have several cases involving this scenario. CPS steps in, and the parents either agree to send the kid to a residential treatment facility, and if they do not cooperate, the State takes legal custody and places him/her there. Additionally, the juvenile justice system seems like an option too. Neither of these options is ideal, or desired, but they are miles better than having a bunch of people get injured or worse by children with those issues. I see mention of the school fearing lawsuits. They should also be concerned about lawsuits filed on behalf of people injured by kids who were not appropriately dealt with in the first place.

Read, like the last 8 posts on the thread. Whether a wall like the one in Israel would work or not is a useless discussion, because: 1. It's not at all possible to duplicate on the southern border; and 2. Trump's plan isn't like that either.
  24. On the bright side, it’s very likely that the vaccinated people will suffer a shorter duration/less severe set of symptoms.
  25. Of course. What difference does that make though? The numbers calculation still results in a “no-brainer” decision to get the flu shot every year.
