Catholic concessions to alcoholics and celiac sufferers belie the Catholic doctrine that holds wine and bread transform into blood and flesh of Christ. Accordingly, Catholics now say that one need not consume both bread and wine to fully partake in the sacrament.
As I understand it, they don’t claim that it physically transforms, which makes sense, because anyone could tell they’re consuming wine and bread not blood and flesh. So they say it gets transformed in some kind of fundamental, invisible way that doesn’t affect its physical properties. So they can stand by their story that it really is the flesh and blood in the way that matters but also not have to try and convince you that Jesus was a living person who had flesh and blood indistinguishable from bread and wine.

The head of DHS is not supposed to be radically partisan, but of course not.
Well you see it turns out our government norms were largely upheld by people having the capacity for shame and MAGA discovered a hell of a cheat code to deal with that

God willing they will one day have to invent a special sort of Zamboni to clear all the human excrement deposited daily on the otherwise unmarked pauper’s grave of Stephen Miller

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital.
CHUCK SCHUMER (behind sniper rifle): Found one
PELOSI: Take the shot

They for sure removed lots of files. This is the reality (or something very close to it):
Epstein and Maxwell realized that wealthy and powerful people (including themselves) enjoyed sex with beautiful young women. They used Epstein’s money to bring beautiful young women, some of them underage, to events hosted by Epstein. The women and girls were given to understand it might be worth their while to have sex with the powerful men who came to party with them.
Epstein did this to ingratiate himself to powerful people. No blackmail was needed, these powerful people did favors for the guy who gave parties where young women appeared, and no one bothered to ask too many questions about them. No client list was needed, Epstein did this because he enjoyed it and the men he invited enjoyed it.
It’s all very simple and very sleazy. A rich man procured beautiful women and then invited powerful men to meet them. And no one checked IDs.
Also they did it because they were dirty old men who liked it when nubile young women touched their wieners, not as part of some kind of crazy cabal ritual.

Maxwell went to prison for sex trafficking minors to nobody I guess...
She went to prison for sex trafficking minors to Jeffrey Epstein. That part isn’t confusing.

Reminder that Mamdani was a faculty kid, the admissions office would have been familiar with his parents. It’s just too preposterous to think he was trying to fool them by checking the wrong box. On his college application that got rejected and which netted him no other gain in any form, when he was 17 or 18. The insane reach by the NYT is SO telling.

Man, if after everything that has happened here the past ten years you're still not concerned about the most prestigious newspapers in our country lending mainstream legitimacy to fascist propaganda, I don't know what to tell you.
It’s not like this is their first rodeo. 29 different anti-trans amicus briefs in Skrmetti cited anti-trans reporting from the NYT. They sure love them some Israel, too. They are a reactionary publication.

“The New York Times collaborated with a white nationalist eugenicist hacker and agreed to keep his identity a secret to publish a Zohran Mamdani hit piece” is a way bigger story than “18 year old Zohran Mamdani ticked ‘African American’ on his Columbia application because he was a citizen of Uganda”

What would you prefer he be doing?
There’s a lot of hate for Jeffries and Schumer over here-what do you think they should be doing differently?
How about if Jeffries hadn’t taken any time away from an all-out messaging blitz against the worst bill in recent memory to throw shade at Mamdani?

No pressure at all on the kid.
It kinda sucks because he could be quite good and still fall well short of the hype at this point. I’m assuming he’s not actually going to be a world-beating Heisman type QB, because those come along very rarely. I’d be pretty psyched if he’s just not a downgrade from Ewers.

Minorities/women CAN be a DEI hire, and therefore, all such hires ARE DEI hires, and are not merit-based.
Never mind that the whole point of DEI is not to elevate unqualified minorities, it’s to prevent qualified minorities from being passed over in favor of white men, as has been the default for as long as anyone can remember.
Really though you can pretty much take “DEI” and replace it with the hard R n-word in most of these people’s statements and it more accurately reflects what they mean.

Was talking with west coast tech folks and I’m getting the impression Abbott and Patrick have screwed up royally. Originally, Austin was seen as a great destination for tech companies because of the favorable business climate combined with more central politics.
Unfortunately, the far right policies of late, and the over the top political posturing have soured the tech community on the city and state. A lot of companies have now put on the brakes on future business plans in Texas.
Dumbfucks.
A feature not a bug. Continued influx of West Coast people and money threatens the evangelical wackjobs’ death grip on this state. They’d much rather Texas be a poorer, more backwards state they can rule than a wealthier more progressive one.

Fight Night Champion?
How are we two console generations removed from the last Fight Night game? Some of my favorite/most played games of the PS2 and PS3 eras.
I’d play the hell out of a 4K/60fps remaster of Fight Night 3 or 4 or Champion on PS5.

JFC. He is not a fraud. His head coaching record is stellar. Not having a QB like Penix does not make a fucking coach a fraud. Not being as good as Saban is not a fraud.
Strongly agreed on all points, but it’s also true that recruiting is one area where he remains unproven at best. I don’t think we’ll know how well he can recruit at Bama until the end of the next recruiting cycle at the very least.

Why didn't he just pull himself up the bootstraps and just quit touching drugs like a proper American? Seriously, what the fuck does it say about us that even a multi-billionaire born into privilege can't find decent help with mental issues?
I don’t know, it’s got to be hard as a multi-billionaire to fuck up so bad you won’t land on your feet if you survive. Normal people eventually lose their normal people jobs, lose their license and don’t have a driver, call in too many favors too many times and burn their bridges, etc. Rock bottom has to be elusive for the addict with effectively unlimited resources.

Also if you can’t find a way to be happy about a 12 win season with a conference championship and appearing in/almost winning a CFP semifinal you are not doing football or life correctly

I don’t know what they did but based on a tiny sample size defense seems improved. I just had a game that was 0-0 at the end of regulation (I won 3-0 in OT).
