Pardon my ignorance here and for asking a question that’s been hotly debated nationwide, but can anyone explain why the U.S. is still actively supporting Israel in this war? I understood supporting them immediately after the Oct 7 attacks, but why are we still involved in any capacity other than humanitarian aid?

Regardless of what events led up to this, it currently feels like we are assisting a genocide. The fact that we even have to discuss things like “is this a genocide?” makes me as an American want no active part in this, yet we continue supporting Israel.

I understand that many conservatives and Republicans have taken Israel’s side, yet we also have a Democrat president who is fully on board. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

While I can see how people can be confused by the word Genocide there are some simple facts standing in the way of your assessment.

    1) The population in Gaza has only grown.  After Israel kills every single person they want to kill, including a 2:1 civiilian casualty rate (even though actual rate is closer to 1.5:1) the population will still be 2-3X what it was in the 1960s.

    2) If Israel really wanted to commit genocide - there really would be no debate about it - because it would be effective and it would be over by now.

War is hell.  It's unfortunate that Hamas brought war to Gaza but it's more unfortunate that people can't understand that war is supposed to make you feel like something terrible is happening - because it is.  That doesn't make it genocide.

Not to mention, their “god” hasn’t been too kind to them. Hundreds of years of slavery in Egypt, 40 years wandering the desert, killing Gods son, getting kicked off “their” land, the holocaust, etc.

Maybe they should find a better god, there are thousands to pick from and I’m use any of them would have a better ROI.

"killed God's son..."  this misstatement is the historical reason for much of this.  Romans killed Jesus.  It's not really up for debate as far as I am aware.

Penix was throwing dots all night, it didnt help.

You aren't a mod. Put me on ignore then. Shut up.

Penix was amazing as were their receivers.  That was predictable imo.  I won't pretend to be a football expert but it seems to me that DBs can find the ball better, get fewer PI calls, and a coach can find a way to limit the explosive plays.   We were never going to get pressure so why send the extra man?

Still happy with the Season overall but I'd like to see improved DB play next year.

The bar was set at not sounding like an Aggy.  That’s a low bar.   Compared to Jimbo, who was a perfect Aggy, Melko could produce coherent sentences and even admitted some current failings.

Unpopular hot take: Elko is going to do well at A&M.

I was surprised by how well he did in the booth.  Didn’t sound like an Ag.  Dline was also more talented than I expected given the portal exits.  I could see them fielding a decent team.

People keep talking about missing two big men. College basketball is guard dependent, and we don't have good guards or good depth. I don't see how Disu or Shedrick overcome those problems unless we get multiple guards to make shots consistently.

I know I couldn't.  Does that justify me acting on that thought?  If I, or a significant number of my neighbors choose to do so, then what?

this scenario is such liberal fantasy.  It completely denies the why of those things happening.

you will not find an Israeli bombardment that didn’t start w Palestinian rockets.

What goes over most people's head is that Language Models like ChatGPT and Bard aren't Knowledge Models.  They are merely predictive models of what they expect to come next in the word/sentence/paragraph based on what it has seen.

They don't actually "know" anything at all.  They are like 9.95's in that way.

Am I the only Longhorn that does not mind TCU winning it. They have done what they needed. They can beat their chest but they did not beat the best team of all time to gain the same thing. The pain and false hope aggy would feel would be precious to me. I guess I am in the minority. Maybe I think we will get another one soon since joining the SEC will do what joining the BIG XII did for us as far as talent is concerned.

Emotionally I don't care.  Rationally, in my view, it don't make a shit.  All of these schools recruit Texas.  What is TCU NIL like?

On vacation and I've only seen some clips. Did Hansen and Gordon pitch that badly, or is directional Carolina just that strong at the plate?

I don't know anything about baseball - almost literally - but it was evident to me that Gordon was about to give it up well before we pulled him.  They started getting contact on every ball he threw starting in the 3rd (if you'd like to debate that, talk to the stewardess serving me gin and refer to the part about me not knowing shit about baseball before you reply)
