Good morning from the Manhattan courthouse where the third week of Donald J. Trump’s criminal trial, and the second week of testimony, is set to begin in less than an hour. Today’s first witness will be Gary Farro, a banker who worked with Michael Cohen, Trump’s former fixer, as Cohen initiated the series of transactions that would result in a hush money payment to a porn star just weeks before Election Day in 2016. Farro began testifying on Friday.

There are more pro-Trump protesters outside the courthouse than we’ve seen so far, a few dozen or so. But it’s still a relatively small gathering.

So those protesters are ok, it’s the students and brown people that aren’t? Trying to understand conservative protesting rules

He says that he hasn't spoken to Trump since 2019. “Even though we haven't spoken, I still consider him a friend,” Pecker adds, as he testifies against Trump at his criminal trial.

Trump is showing the most emotion he has during the trial so far as David Pecker discusses a non-prosecution agreement with the Manhattan district attorney's office. He has shaken his head multiple times, whispered to his lawyer and tightly folded his arms over his chest.

Joshua Steinglass, the prosecutor, asks David Pecker if he has any bad feelings or ill will toward Trump. “On the contrary,” Pecker responds, adding: “I felt that Donald Trump was my mentor. He helped me throughout my career.” Pecker then tells a story in which an editor on his staff inhaled anthrax after the Sept. 11 attacks and died. Pecker says he was in a very difficult place from a business and personal standpoint, and that Trump was the first to call him when he needed help.

I know they won’t but I’d love for this to read “trump crosses his arms like a sad little bitch” or something just as colorful

Never insinuated “everyone there is antisemitic” but nice strawman.

I believe in free speech, full stop. I don’t believe in the right to break laws in the name of “protest.”  I do believe the Jewish students on campus should be free from hate speech and Hamas apologists on their way to class.

You provided no proof of the antisemitism. Your statement was vague and sounded like an accusation for all protesters there hating Jews.

    Dear UT community,
This has been a challenging day for many. We have witnessed much activity we normally do not experience on our campus, and there is understandably a lot of emotion surrounding these events.

Today, our University held firm, enforcing our rules while protecting the Constitutional right to free speech. Peaceful protests within our rules are acceptable. Breaking our rules and policies and disrupting others’ ability to learn are not allowed. The group that led this protest stated it was going to violate Institutional Rules. Our rules matter, and they will be enforced. Our University will not be occupied.

The protesters tried to deliver on their stated intent to occupy campus. People not affiliated with UT joined them, and many ignored University officials’ continual pleas for restraint and to immediately disperse. The University did as we said we would do in the face of prohibited actions. We were prepared, with the necessary support to maintain campus operations and ensure the safety, well-being and learning environment for our more than 50,000 students.

We are grateful for the countless staff members and state and University law enforcement officers, as well as support personnel who exercised extraordinary restraint in the face of a difficult situation that is playing out at universities across the country. There is a way to exercise freedom of speech and civil discourse, and our Office of the Dean of Students has continued to offer ways to ensure protests can happen within the rules. The University of Texas will continue to take necessary steps so that all our University functions proceed without interruption.

    Sincerely yours,

    Jay Hartzell
    President

  5. Let me get this straight. His goal was to “ensure the safety and well being” of the students by having them get their ass whipped by a bunch of pussy cops? What the fuck

Fuck him. His actions or omissions put my daughter in harm’s way today. She was in class in the six pack while that shit was happening

As a father of a daughter, I’m with you. Fuck him for putting students at risk.

    I hope she is ok

If shouting anti-Jewish hate speech, should the University not intervene on University grounds?  If praising the Hamas terrorist group etc?  Is that fair to Jewish students?  Would it be permitted for alternative races/groups if the Jewish population wasn’t the target?

So every student was spewing anti Jewish hate speech? You have proof of that? You think everyone there is antisemitic?

All hate speech is wrong. full stop.

I support free speech. I support peaceful protest. I don’t always agree with their cause but I support their rights. It’s those that are only for “their speech” being protected and skulls getting cracked that piss me off

It's worse than that.  Remember, "people who the law binds, but does not protect, vs. people who the law protects, but does not bind."

These are the same people who have been SCREAMING about "campus free speech!" for years.  Who cry about "free speech" on every social media site every minute of every day.  But who ALSO openly support "cracking skulls" of people who are saying things....they don't like/don't agree with.

It's content-based repression of speech.  The exact bullseye thing that the First Amendment protects.  They.  Don't.  Care.  They actually fucking HATE the Constitution, so again with the irony of the fact that every one of these assholes has in their bio "Constitution-loving Republican."  They are fucking liars.  Absolute fucking liars.  They are poison.

    Spot on. It’s infuriating

  9. I’m constantly blown away at republicans binary brain. Everything is black or white (definitely not black see racism) and grey doesn’t exist. Mind bottling

  10. Arming teachers is the dumbest way to stop school shootings. Teachers who carry will automatically become targets. Police will most likely shoot the teachers who are carrying during a real shooting. A student will steal a gun at some point. A teacher will shoot a student. Who’s liable for this? Do teachers need to carry general liability? I mean what the fuck. Tennessee trying to out stupid Florida and Texas

So what limitations are put on defense attorneys once a trial is underway?  Can they bail if they know he's out of cash?

I'm beginning to come around on YGIFS theory that this will end up killing him.  The very idea of him sitting through this day after day, realizing how many people actually hate him because he isn't surrounded by his yes men any longer has to eat at what's left of his brain.

I wish I could have seen him reacting to all the memes while hearing the judge and attorneys read the memes out loud so seriously. Would have been worth the price of admission.

id love for ygifs to be right about this. Not sure the cult dies with him but maybe
