@aggypedia both of these should have entries
Hey - speaking of this. We've had a bit of a "new article" slowdown of late.
We're putting out an OPEN CALL for any contributors who would like to provide some aggypedia entries.
Please keep them short wiki-like items if you want to just enhance some existing sections, but if you have a Randolph-Duke-like ability to pump out some aggy-exposing prose, we'll take that, too!
Just message us here and let's talk. Or if you'd prefer to keep your Surly and aggypedia contributions separate, we have a handy contact form on the site.
If you have ideas, some bullet points, a graphic or two, or whatever, we can help you flesh it out but would love to have your direct contributions. They can be anonymous, too! Just know the joy that you will feel contributing to the best Internet source for debunking aggy mythology!

Yeah - we also have a full entry on it at aggypedia: The aggy Liberty Bell
QuoteThe Texas replica was not given to aggy as a token of gratitude – it was given to them because they requested it and no one else wanted it.
It had nothing to do with WWII – it was a stage prop for a 1950 Savings Bond sales campaign.

... it's almost like someone should make a website about it.

On July 2, 2022, Texas A&M proudly reminded the world that 160 years prior, President Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Act that provided for federal funding of Land Grant colleges.
They also provided a picture ON THE OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY TWITTER ACCOUNT from the university archives of what they claimed was the Texas A&M campus on July 2, 1862.
Notice anything … “unusual” about this image from July 1862?
(not to mention the outright lie about being the “first public institution of higher education in Texas”. We’ve covered that before here. They are and always have been an officially designated branch of The University of Texas.)

Over the years, I keep saying “one of these days Randy Duke will log in/out of the wrong account and post”. But it is the same and nobody would ever notice.
It’s not a knock at all, just an observation.I can tell you that I am not Randolph nor am I any other regular surly poster. I do get a lot of great content from several regular posters here (including Randolph) and collectively we've made a pretty popular aggy debunking site.

It took "real engineers" one year to do what aggy couldn't do in 10.
The Space Shuttle simulator is a true museum centerpiece now, after being rescued from aggy's inept clutches.

A guest contributor to an Aggie website? Wow, the honors in my life just keep stacking up.
Oh come on now ... you should know better than that.
Even our tagline on the home page says it correctly: Your Internet source for debunking aggy mythology

Someone should definitely add in the development of the one of a kind freight shuttle system they invented in 2017. You may know it as a train.

When in doubt - check aggypedia!
The new search feature we added is pretty good, too.
Seriously though, we're looking for new stuff to add. If you'd like to either be a guest contributor for a new article or you have some additions/corrections to our current stuff, let us know! We'll keep you anonymous so the aggy hordes don't try to dox you.

MediaWiki shit the bed and aggypedia (at least the wiki portion) is down right now.
I'm having to recreate the pages from database exports in a new format (not MediaWiki).
I'll post again when we've finished.
Meanwhile the photos are still available at https://aggypedia.com/home/
aggypedia is back online!
The Wiki portion has been recreated -- looks a tiny bit different, but all of the content is there. I tried to set up redirects, too, so that any previous links point to the new versions. If you see something that's not right, let me know.

“It was October 2, 2021. The Ags were playing with their fourth string QB - playing fourth string walk ons with debilitating side effects from Covid at every position, in fact, as all the able-bodied males at Texas A&M were called to duty in Afghanistan to bail out General Patton and Joe Biden in the fight against the Taliban.
Our opponent was Mississippi State, easily the best college football team in the country, and widely reported to have been using gene therapy and PEDs to mutate their players into superhumans. And, of course, they had their entire starting lineup of mutant abominations against God playing in the game instead of helping us in the fight in Afghanistan, because Mississippi State is and always has been an anti-American radical left wing institution that burns the flag and hates our troops. They were led at the time by a known Communist sympathizer named Mike Leach who had been expelled from Texas Tech for sedition.
The oddsmakers favored Mississippi State to win by 60. But our boys fought hard, just like they’ve always done whether it was singlehandedly winning the Battle of the Bulge or Johnny Manziel beating Duke in The Bowl. In an exceedingly rare moment when the spirit of aggyland and the most supportive fans in the world began to waver at Kyle Field against these insurmountable odds, the crowd looked for inspiration. And that’s when The Bird appeared. Cawing with the ferocity of a lion, flying with the majesty of a bald eagle, legend has it The Bird spread its wings so far they touched each goalpost. When we looked up at The Bird, flying high above the stadium, it looked as though The Bird was gleaming with fire like the Phoenix risen from the ashes. Some skeptics say it was just a reflection of the sunset, but if you were there you knew if meant God himself had sent The Bird to smite the evildoers at Mississippi State and show the world once again that Aggies are His favored children. And that is exactly what He showed them all, by sending The Bird to help us lose … but in a close game.
Every Ag in attendance - all vulnerable women and children because, again, the men were all at war saving Uncle Sam - they all left the stadium that day with their heads held high, and with courage in their hearts, knowing that The Bird was there to watch over them and protect them from the godless sodomites at Mississippi State who only narrowly bested them that day. Even the Mississippi State fans in attendance, primarily murderers and rapists who usually terrorized and pillaged the towns they visited after a win, even they were so moved by what they had witnessed that they simply thanked the Aggies for being such great hosts and then helped safeguard the women and children to their cars.
And that, kids, is why we have the tradition at Texas A&M of never cleaning grackle shit off of any surface anywhere on the campus. It may be an eyesore to the uninitiated, but now that you know the story behind it, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a powerful and quite appropriate statement about this institution. Just try not to ever breathe or sit down when you’re walking between buildings.”
May we please use this on aggypedia? It would make the perfect joke article.

So ... when the Space Shuttle program wrapped up, there was a distribution of program artifacts to various museums across the country. Of course, aggy-being-aggy, they lobbied *HARD* to get something to show how connected they were to the space program.
They were granted a pretty substantial allocation by being given the Shuttle Motion Base simulator (a full six-degree-of-freedom simulator used throughout the entire program). This was a BIG DEAL and had aggy actually done something with it, it would've been a fairly big feather in their Texum Bulldogs cap.
However - the only way to describe what actually happened is "aggy".
It was delivered to CS in 2012 and promptly sat in boxes gathering dust for almost a decade - for at least awhile in non-climate-controlled buildings. It even has an entry on aggypedia where they claimed "lack of funds", even though they had been required to show they had full funding for displaying this artifact before they were granted award of it.
WELL! FINALLY! A group in Houston has raised private funds and saved this incredible piece of Shuttle crew training history and is in the process of having it returned it to Houston. The first shipment is being unboxed now (literally this week) and will be set up in the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington AFB at some point in the near future (LSFM is about 15 minutes away from JSC). Had aggy not fucked it up so badly, this could've been a major attraction *YEARS* ago. Now, some old friends (including a number of volunteers who used to actually work daily with the simulators) are unboxing to see what damage has been done by aggy negligence.
Thanks for contacting us. We updated the aggypedia entry with your information.

This is exactly what I think of every time a friend of mine who lives in the south east or a coworker who went to a school in the SEC asks me about Texas A&M. “Longboard, you’re familiar with Texas A&M right? So please answer me this, what the hell is wrong with those people?!”
Please make sure you send them to aggypedia.
