God, you are a beating. Prather's intent matters. The songwriter's intent matters. What other songs were sung in blackface at those minstrel shows? Do we even know if EOT was introduced in blackface?
You are just being petulant at this point. I'm pretty much done. You are a perfect example of why it is so fucking frustrating to identify as a progressive/liberal in modern America. Facts don't matter, feelings matter, and the most offended wins. Fuck. That.
Wasn't David Dennison the poster vehemently opposed to football last season because of Covid, as well?
The very wealthy alum want to keep singing the song and refuse to kowtow to the people seeking to stop the tradition, so I think it survives. Texas has the reputation of letting the big donors have undue influence over the school and its admins, and in this case, I think that saves the song.
Has Texas Tribune done the same search on the emails sent by the Texas A&M alums during the Sul Ross statue dust-up? I'm sure there are some gems in there. Seems like something a certain poster on this site would be very good at doing.

I’m currently coaching my son’s team (9 and 10 year’s old). We’ve been a middling team, but we beat the best team in the league a few days ago so I thought we had “turned the corner”, but we just lost to another middling team...frustrating. Win or lose, I find that I don’t sleep well hahaha. It was good finding this thread - I know this isn’t life changing stuff, and it can be a big time commitment, but I’ve enjoyed it.

His son was pitching and appeared to actually be pretty good (likely because he has taken a lot of private lessons). Cal's son is on my friend's team, and by all accounts, Cal is a nice enough guy. That certainly doesn't make him qualified to run a NFL franchise though.
This was certainly a surprise to me: "McNair attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a four-year member of the Longhorn football team." https://business.rice.edu/person/d-cal-mcnair#:~:text=(Rice MBA '95),of the Texans since 2001.

Here in Houston, Post Oak Little League practices started last weekend. Coaches pass out practice shirts and there is a Texans logo on the sleeve. I didn’t understand why a baseball league would be using the Texans logo.
Today, I see a guy walking out of a matte black MB G-wagon with a little kid, and I’m thinking “that d-bag looks like Cal McNair”. Kid’s name on back of his shirt says “McNair”.

Can someone with the skills paste an Orgeron head over a crawfish (because it's clear he is about to have to crawfish away from his prior lack of AC stance)?

He's from Yoakum. Was probably hunting rodents for dinner.
Being from Yoakum myself, I resent that remark. 😁 We hunt hogs

Saw him at Peche in New Orleans today. No one walked up to him for an hour+. But before he left, he tried to cover up his face with dark glasses and his hoodie.
