Yormark is going to miss Texas next year and every year after that.

Best game that PK's defense has played in 3 years. They didn't miss anything strategically and didn't let up for the whole game.

Wow. Team psychology is bad and players not being held accountable. I've seen this movie before.

Sark likes to run out the last 30:00 of the clock.

Sark maybe has perfected the skill of having the team play like utter dogshit for a half and still win. Never seen anything like it.

Kick a FG to go up 30-27 with time on the clock. We have seen this game before.

Texas hasn't been able to defend the pass very well all year. KSU finally figured it out.

Kwiatkowski has to go or he has to be allowed to hire his own assistants. Too many breakdowns in the secondary every game.

I think his "tackling and not blowing coverages line" was a tongue-in-cheek admonition to the portion of the fan base who thought Watts had reached his ceiling and his loss would not impact the D as much.
Good point.

The Horns totaled only 360 yards of offense and did very little for a large middle chunk of the game.

These comments are very important to understand the nature of Sark's teams at Texas. Every year there is some portion of the game where there is literally no performance. In year 1 it was the 4th Q. In years 2 and 3, there have been slow but positive starts, a terrible 3rd Q, then strong ending. That pattern doesn't always play out but the middle game lethargy is consistent.
The second quote is probably part of why Sark has such consistent lulls during the game. The defense does the same thing. It's the same with the roster. Game performance is determined by a carefully controlled group of starters. Once anyone goes down it throws off the balance and chaos ensues. That is true for every team but I have seen multiple times where opponents lose a player and the backup comes in and plays well. Not as well as the starter of course but there is a level of execution that I don't see with Texas.
I am critical of Sark because these have been obvious observations from a nobody like me watching tv since his first year. I thought the defense had turned a corner but that seems not to be the case. I am hoping they prove me wrong against BYU and on through the season.

Surely full of too much unreasonable sunshine for you?
It's important to remember this is the fans' fault. Of we just posted meaner things on the internet, the secondary would play better.
That isn't my point. The point is that those who make money writing about Texas football need to be more honest or more circumspect about their analysis. There really isn't much they have right about this team. It probably doesn't change what happens in Belmont but the way over hype is dishonest and sets up fans for more disappointment than is necessary. Then a banality like "tackling and not blowing coverages sets a baseline" for defense. That is true in Junior High and across all eras of football. But Texas has to have Ryan Watts on the field to get that level of performance. Every team in America has to deal with playing backups. Texas has more talent to pull from if the coaches are doing their jobs, there doesn't have to be such a huge drop off in play.

OU has proved to us twice during this current CFP format that the Dallas result can be overcame. A lot of you are letting your emotions get in the way of the bigger picture.
Sark didn't fail the go beat Bama's ass in Tuscaloosa test. He hasn't failed the win all of the other games on the schedule test yet.
I mean God damn some of y'all get super fucking hot about a tight win against a bad team. Shit happens. I'll fucking bitch alongside the rest of you if we come out and do this same shit against BYU next week. But I don't think we're going to. I think BYU is going to get fucked up.
I don't think anyone is saying Texas CAN'T win out and win the Big 12 this year. The issue is looking for reasons why that WILL happen. The Alabama game is a clue that this team has the potential. It seems like a long time ago though. After the sluggish games against Wyoming and Kansas, then the loss to OU. Houston was an opportunity to show they figured some things out and were ready to make a push for the Big 12 championship. Well... they won so the opportunity is still there mathematically. But it should be clear the leading indicators aren't looking so great. If nothing else the team has become snake bit with injuries.

I continue to notice the difference between what the 995ers say preseason and against Rice vs what they say once Texas is in the meat of the season. I have no doubt BYU will look great next Saturday. All the while Texas fans make excuses for why things are better despite what their lying eyes are saying.

At one point, I counted five consecutive money downs (3rd and 7+) converted by the same crosser call. PK continues to love extra man blitzes from the 3rd row of the stands against a spread offense running bunch formations and flexed tight ends that puts the extra edge defender a mile and a half from the QB. OU taught him very little in that regard.
Doesn't this deserve a firing? There has to be accountability.

"Guys who tackle and don't blow coverages are valuable in setting the baseline for a defense." Has a sentence ever been so true but so worthless? What football player shouldn't tackle well and not make catastrophic mistakes? For Texas we have to get a highly rated transfer from another school to get this kind of performance. But actual coaches should be able to get this level of performance from what 70% of the players in their position group? Starters should be those who have better athletic traits or have higher levels of execution or consistency than others. But apparently Texas can't have a good secondary when they lose 1 guy who can tackle and doesn't lose their minds at critical times. Damning for Texas and Wadlington's ability to analyze football.

As a kid I met Gary Gaines and his family. Got to play basketball with his son Bradley and at least had a few words with his daughter Nicole. That was in the year before he moved to Odessa to coach Permian. He was well respected by everyone who knew him.
-
I have been waiting for him to break out somewhere and take a starting job. That is what Priest Holmes and Jamaal Charles did. Picked him up on my fantasy team and was well rewarded.

Not in the Big 12. That was when the teams were in different conferences.

Name me one time Texas has lost to OU and won the rest of their games and won the conference?

OMG. Texas lost the biggest game of the year. Have Texas fans forgot what matters every year?

Who would some of y’all rather have? You are acting like we don’t have an all star coaching staff (save maybe 2-3 spots we could upgrade?) look at OU today, look at UW tonight, USC, etc. Everyone was “mother fucking” Harbaugh for his Michigan disaster til all the sudden his culture and recruiting and coaches clicked. We won the fucking game, Jesus lord.
OU beat UT. Change the result of that game and my opinion is different because that is a bowl, playoff type of game. That is what the game has stood for for 70 years. Sark failed the test.

PK hasn't done himself favors with his safeties and edge guys. Both of those personnel groups are JAGs. There are some things you can do with the edge guys to free them up and confuse the o-line. In the secondary, I firmly believe a lot of the reason for the cushions at corner is because we don't have the safety speed to help over top if a corner gets beat. Just my opinion but it is what it is. These coaches aren't perfect by any means.
What you are saying is that they haven't trained or recruited a great pass rusher in 3 years. Fail.

Once again the critique on PK is damning. He didn't put any extra scheme into a playoff game. Didn't tighten up their base. And didn't set the D up for fanatical effort. Wth is he still on the staff?
