Apparently there are rumors in TCU circles that Gary Patterson came to an agreement with Sark that Gary won’t help gameplan against TCU. “Gary has too much love for the TCU program” was the reasoning. This sounds like complete and utter horse shit. In what world would Sark allow GP to take the week off in the single most impactful game on our schedule? I was told this by one particularly delusional TCU alum.

That quote came from a GP parody twitter account. GP did not say/write that.

  2. Gary would NEVER make it as HC at UT. He has to be in total control. No one can tell him what to do. He would not want to have anything to do with the boosters. He hates the portal and NIL. Does this describe the guy you need?

Look as a Frog, I have tremendous respect for GP. He did so much for TCU; we will always be indebted to him. But the game has passed him by. He has his perfect job as defense analyst. He doesn't have to deal with any of the BS above; he can just focus on defense. The perfect setup for GP. Only if he has the "head coach bug" would he try it again, and I have no idea where he stands on that issue.

Our shitty 2021 team beat TCU on the road.  Patterson could take the week off before this game and we'd be fine.

Remember that Patterson left TCU because, ironically, our defense was so shitty last year, and things had been mediocre for several years. Our defense is already looking  much better this year. That said, I'm not at all sure that TCU can beat UT this year. Y'all sure looked salty against Bama.

  4. Our defense has been horrible this year. The last time I saw a TCU defense this bad was in the 70s. GP has a great MIND for defense. Dick Bumpas (who retired in 2014) is a great COACH of Gary's defense. I think Bumpas has come back for some short sessions with the team over the years, but apparently not this year.

I respect GP. He pulled TCU football up from the ashes. He will always be loved by TCU. I'm also sorry he's going out this way...it's not what many of us TCU fans envisioned. We have so many fond memories of TCU football under Gary's leadership. Many of us would have preferred that he retire, so we could honor him appropriately.

Now that this has been done, we will remember the hits and forget the misses.

I think we should get Baylor to hire our next head coach. They have found 2 good ones in a row. Seriously, how did Baylor find 2 great HCs in a row???

  5. It's pretty funny that you call us cockroaches. We are happy to fall into your ice cream and ruin it....

But seriously, I gotta say, UT is my 2nd favorite Big-12 team, after TCU of course. Now Baylor totally sucks, but that's a different topic.

We'll see how well we do in FB this next year. We've been pretty stale for three years, now.

We will lose out. TCU was the worst team we had left.

Hmmm. We have beaten you 6 -2 since we joined the Big 12. Maybe you should not look at us as your "worst team ... left."  Even when we're shitty, like this year, we usually beat you. BTW, in the same time period, OU has only beaten you 5-3.

Patterson is TCU's Bill Snyder.  He's going to get a statue and a street named after him for turning around a program that was complete shit for 4 decades into a national powerhouse.

He's allowed to have down years every now and again in Fort Worth and not feel the heat from dozens of angry boosters and thousands of never satisfied fans.

He's not giving that all up to come here.  Not now, not ever.

This. And add to it that his wife, Kelsey, is Ft. Worth, through and through. I don't think you could get her to move anywhere else, so Gary's not leaving. Also, he won't coach forever. He'll probably coach another 5 years or so, but strong rumor is he wants some retirement years to travel, etc. So why go to some program that needs building? Both TCU and Ft Worth already consider him a legend.

And BTW, he already has a statue at TCU. Unveiled several years ago.59c830958f1e5-coachps.jpg

CDC finally fired up the Twitter this evening, answering questions about a track & field indoor facility, grass football field and burnt orange jerseys. But he's ignored all the ones about the football team's performance. That's obviously the right thing to do. But there's no doubt he's gotten the message. What he does with it...well, I guess we'll see.

I'm curious how any TCU folk think he'll handle our coach.

Got bad news for ya. The only great coach CDC hired at TCU was a TCU alum being pushed out of Pittsburgh. The others were already there. CDC may still do a great job, but it isn't something he has much experience with.

Still, he has lots of respect at TCU.
