I went to an airshow yesterday at March AFRB.

What a clusterfuck.  It literally took us 3 fucking hours to get through the gates once we exited the freeway.

Once inside, the show was quite good.  Got to see the inside of a Super Galaxy and other heavies, lots of WWII birds (most of them hopped over from Chino), The Thunderbirds, etc.   Bullshitting with the G5 pilots; out of Texas, one is an AA guy, the other UA.

But what an ill-run event.  Every trash can overflowing, every porta-john overflowing, every handwash station empty, non-existent traffic control.

Sorry to hear the poor accommodations. Ironically enough, I still have property in the Canyon Crest area in Riverside that was on the flight line of planes taking off. I’ll never forget the Haiti Earthquake of 2010 watching CNN broadcasting C-17’s taking off and circling right over my home while it was looking straight at them for the relief effort. Actually was there for 7 days and got back last Monday as I reside in Dallas now. Things have changed dramatically on the 60-215 interchange going south. Plan on retiring and going back in 7-9 years as I miss it tremendously. And yes, I’m a Texas boy!!

Just poured a tall glass of bourbon and put "Blow by Blow" on the turntable.

And enjoy. Had the opportunity to see him play in Austin with SRV along with Carlos Santana in Portland, OR years later. He was a “kind of acquired sound/guitarist”. Loved all of his musical endeavors.

    RIP Jeff

Our construction project has about 115 recessed light cans.  The builder is about ready to buy and install LED retrofit trim kits. Our job specs call for Halo, with which we were very happy in the old house.  The builder is pushing Nora, because it is what his supplier pushes.  The specs are comparable, other than lumens - Halo is 940; Nora is 1100.  Agreeing to Nora will save about $750.  But, I've never heard of Nora, for which the few reviews I can find are pretty mixed.  Does anyone have experience with Nora LED trim kits?  If it matters, the specific models in question are Halo RL56099S1EWHR and Nora NOXTW-5632WW.

I’m in the Electrical Distribution Industry. My company has access to all major lighting manufacturers and we team up with Cooper Lighting Solutions. Both items are comparable in delivered lumens however the RL560 draws 11.4 watts versus 15.5 watts for the Nora. The Cooper unit is more efficient. Bear in mind that both are considered residential grade lighting. You note that your project is utilizing 115 units. Is this a residential or commercial project? If residential, make sure that you have the amperage/circuit breaker capacity to handle the overall draw for all items considered.

We sell to the general public and if you’re interested, I can provide you a price point on the Halo unit. Where is the project in question location wise?

Dallas soil is mostly clay.  So it shrinks and swells with moisture.  And, it also seems to harbor a lot of subterranean water, meaning like creeks and things that lead to really uneven swelling and shrinkage.  So the wet seasons can be really problematic in terms of swelling, and the dry seasons are dry af, so massive shrinkage.

Even pier and beam is not immune because a pier can have most of the soil pull away from it temporarily and lose all skin friction.

Like I said, if the inspection reveals no extraordinary measures and no damage in 60 years, I'm gonna guess I'm OK?

This is Northwest Dallas, in the Disney streets.

The neighborhood of my youth!! Crazy how this area has changed over the 4+ decades.

yup, i'm in the electrical distribution industry and can confirm some of those materials are backordered for damn near a year. Boxes, cable, certain fittings, breakers...the list goes on. Some PO's have been open since January and suppliers still have no ETA. Inudustry long-timers have said they have never seen the supply chain this bad.

I’m in the same industry and can validate the massive shortages. Our primary gear supplier (Eaton) is putting my company under allocation releases based on historical purchasing behavior.
