I could see ESPN pushing the ACC to take West Virginia/Cincinnati or Memphis/UConn to get to 16+ND that way even if they lose a school or two to the B1G/SEC they’d still have plenty of inventory to complete the contract. It also might help give them an excuse to funnel some more $ (small amount) to the ACC and calm down some of the butthurt.

West Virginia fits better in the ACC for sure.  But unless ESPN is giving much more money to the ACC, whey would West Virginia move?  The Big 12 is likely going to get more than the ACC in a few years.  But even if the ACC still makes more money, if the ACC gets picked apart by the Big 10 and SEC, are the ACC remnants going to keep the band together or try for a Big 12 invite?  The Big 12 will say, "Ok, we'll accept Pittsburgh, Va Tech, ..".   No way are they going to take West Virginia who bailed on the Big 12.

  2. If it goes to a 16 game playoff and Sankey and Warren are successful in strong arming everybody for no automatic qualifiers and all committee rankings, this could mean as others said here 6 SEC teams, 6 Big 10 teams, ND, 3 others.  This could cheapen Rivalry Week and cheapen the conference Championship games.

You have the Iron Bowl with 9-2 Alabama and 10-1 Auburn.  LSU is at already at 10-1 for the SEC West heading to the championship game.  Saban and Auburn's coach trot out 2nd string QBs so that they don't get hurt as Alabama and Auburn are expected into the CFP playoffs.  At halftime, 2nd stringers are in and 3rd stringers come in the 4th quarter.

In the championship game, LSU is up 21 pts at half.  Florida's coach pulls a Dan Mullen and starts sending in 2nd and 3rd stringers as Florida is also guaranteed a spot in the CFP.

Same goes for Ohio State and Michigan as they take it easy on their players to get them healthy for the Championship game or for the playoffs.

Rivalry week in future years ends up being Week 9 or 10 with a non-conference crap team schedule Week 12 for the SEC and Big 10.   What a sh!t show.

Plenty of Rice, Houston, TCU, SMU “fans” switched to following Texas or aggy after the SWC fell apart.  Maybe not right away but most did eventually.

This would be like me saying I stopped watching college football last year after Texas was eliminated from the playoffs or conference title which is dumb. I didn’t watch as many games but I still watched the big games like the Bedlam, the Iron Bowl or tOSU/UM, CCG, and the playoffs even though my team wasn’t involved in any of those.

But yes let’s pretend college football will lose massive amount of viewers and fans despite all the evidence and historical evidence to the contrary.

We'll see.  Yeah, maybe, people will tune them out for a few years and come around to watch them.

You watch as your team has a chance to win it all to start the season.  I also watch Bedlam, Georgia-Florida, Michigan-Ohio State, etc.  I'll watch something like Northwestern - Wisconsin if they are on too. But if my school is excluded even before the season starts, not going to watch any of those games week 1, week 10, or playoffs.

I see you've reached the bargaining stage, congrats!

This is untrue, they'll watch.  Even if they don't, the fan bases of the Power 2 programs are so massively large in comparison, and the matchups are going to be so much better that every week will be must-see TV when it's TX/Bama, TX/Georgia, TX/FL, TX/OU, TX/Auburn, etc, no one is going to miss that.  And if some G8 fans don't watch, that's fine because it will MORE than be made up for by new fans watching awesome football at the highest college level.

Not happening.  If left out, schools aren't going to adopt a team or watch because it is on.

Texas will be included in everything, but if an alternate universe and Texas is in a non P2 conference with no hope to win it all as excluded, you watching the P2 teams duke it out?

Some of the leftovers do have rabid fan bases that don't care about the opponent.  What else are you going to do in WVA or Iowa?

That is why I don't want any pro teams in Iowa.  Oklahoma State basketball used to be packed but not so much anymore since the Thunder came to town.

Yeah the sport really took a nose dive when they split FCS/FBS, and then half the SWC was left out, and then again when the Big East was left out. Its barely hanging on…coffin is almost closed.

Big difference of your examples versus SEC / Big 10 only.  U of Mass and Montana technically still have access in the current CFP.  With no access for college teams with interest that routinely average 50,000+ alums/students a game, much different.

If Notre Dame gets shut out of access to Big 10 teams, I think they'll join.  That's the Big 10's ultimate trump card.

If a 12 team playoff has, say 5 SEC, 5 Big 10, and 2 3rd conference teams (or a similar percentage of a 16 team playoff), I think everyone would be completely fine with that.

Stability comes when the Big 10 and SEC are done adding schools.  The sooner they figure out who they want, and end this, the quicker we have stability.

If 10 SEC / Big 10 teams gets selected from a 12 team CFP, might as well just have it SEC and Big 10.  It would mean a 8-4, maybe 9-3, team is selected over 1 loss teams in other conferences.

Other conferences shouldn't sign up for it.  Call the SEC / Big 10's bluff when they threaten to go alone.

College football interest and ratings would crater without access for the rest of the teams and non SEC / Big 10 country.

  8. Change needed for this system for Georgia to get this close to getting in.  "Eye test" should be a low factor.  Conference champion weight needs to more of a factor.  Get rid of "best" as brings the eye test way too much as a factor......Herbie is horrible.  Going on and on.
