Update for those that provided advice. After another few days of no responses and not being able to reach anyone on the main claim line, I filed a complaint with the TDI. They responded within a day, saying that because it was not my insurance company, they could not investigate or intervene. However, they did forward my complaint to the insurance company, including my request for TDI to investigate them for bad faith practices.

That must have gotten their attention because an assessor was at my house within a day, and the settlement check was fedex'd to me two days later. Unfortunately, they are scumbags and low balled everything in the settlement summary. While I understand that it's up to the repair shop to work the parts and labor costs, I began to get concerned I wouldn't be able to get the proper payment from them to get a quality repair done.  So, I rejected the payment and filed with my insurance.

This whole situation is making me realize that the auto insurance industry is an absolute scam. They operate in a way to basically force you to file with your own insurance, even when it isn't your fault, so that they can all constantly raise rates for "reasons". I also got a sense I was about one person out of a hundred that even tries to not file with their own insurance when it's someone else's fault.  It's almost impossible.  Eff'em.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going through this exact situation right now in the early stages. Haven't received a phone call, e-mail, smoke signal, nothing from their insurance (Shelter) eight days after the accident. First time dealing with this so I'm actually surprised how slow they are.

  2. Do people find Longfellow funny? I saw him last summer at Dallas Comedy Club and didn't laugh at one thing he said. The Dallas-area warm up comedian was funnier. (Dez O'Neal)

I made the mistake of taking an old Japanese bus from the 1980's from Yangon to Mandalay in 2006. No A/C, dirt roads, no bathrooms, just locals. Took about 16 hours overnight. Brutal.

At one point, we pulled over in the middle of nowhere for a piss break. Couldn't see anything. Pitch dark. So I walk about 15 yards from the bus to take a leak. As I'm mid-stream, someone shined a light and I discovered I was surrounded by women all squatting mid-piss. The men were on the other side of the bus. I apparently stepped into the women's piss area. Who knew there was a system.

I do remember a few locals there with blue, knock-off OU hats. Doubtful any Burmese actually followed OU football but who knows.

  4. Back in January, I was shopping at the Love Me Two Times antique store in Tulsa not paying any attention at all to the guy standing next to me in the heavy coat and ballcap. Suddenly, a young lady approached from behind saying "Oh my God, can I have a picture with you??" Turned around to realize the guy to my left was Ethan Hawke. She asked him what he was doing in Tulsa and he said they were 'shooting a TV show'. So, I've been impatiently awaiting the release of this since.

    Donald Washberg for Governor!!!

  5. I always liked Chuck. He had such a great band.

Guitarist Grant Geissman can flat out play. I think he was in his early twenties when he came up with that iconic solo on FSG. He pops in occasionally to Norman's Rare Guitars on youtube.

I went to a music fest in Japan in the early 2000's and was waiting to see Wilco when the band Crazytown came on stage. I was not a fan of that band but was really surprised to see drummer James Bradley Jr playing with them. He was playing with Mangione when I saw them on January 20, 1980 at the Lloyd Noble in Norman (the same night as the Steelers/Rams Super Bowl). Talk about a varied career.

Yes, we like watching basketball. We all, unilaterally, hate when players take actions with the sole intent to draw a foul with zero intent to try to make a basket.

Good to hear. We're getting a game 7, fellas. Should be fun.

You guys have a great weekend.

She is killing it. Horrible player linked to CK in college and she is running with it. I chuckle at her bad play but outside of basketball she is the smartest woman in the room concerning how she actually is as an athlete, which is nothing short of awful.

You have to admit, she's pretty sharp. I don't follow women's basketball as much as the other sports, but just about every message board I frequent has one thread specifically dedicated to her filled with white men that can't help but share an opinion of her. She certainly appears to be living rent free.

  8. Saw it today but I can't give it a positive review. Felt the same way about his recent films. I think Anderson might be losing me. I consider Life Aquatic one of my top ten favorites and have enjoyed The Darjeeling Limited on repeated viewings, but the last few have lost me.

Anderson reminds me of an aging rock act that had several fantastic albums early in his career. But his albums in the past ten years or so were quickly deleted from my playlist after one spin.

It won’t happen but here’s hoping OKC trips over their dicks and Indiana steals the NBA title. I hate the Thunder.

Your dream might come true. They could pull off a Dallas Stars level choke job

  10. People in the middle US are insane. I had a British boss overseas that asked how long it would take to drive from my hometown (OKC) to a co-workers (Houston). I said it would only take about 7 hours. He said....'Bloody hell....that's London to Edinburgh....one end of the UK to the other." CSB

It’s a little more nuanced than that, but sure. He also has spanked the entire league with his more recent trades and acquisitions. Dude is a witch.

Without a doubt Presti regrets that Harden deal but he's been fun to watch in the meantime. Sending an aging Serge Ibaka to Orlando for Oladipo and Sabonis? Then sending them to Indiana for Paul George? Then flipping him to LA for SGA, Gallinari and 5 first-rounders? You reckon Michael Winger regrets that trade?

It's wild how much the Thunder catch so much hate when they're literally the blueprint for building a winning culture from the ground up. No super team (Presti tried that and failed with Russ, PG13 and Carmelo), no drama, just straight-up hard work, player development and unselfish basketball. The best defense in the NBA. 80 wins so far this year. Not bad.

I don’t know what I was expecting from Holmgren when he came into the league but, he has the chance to be something special for a long time.

Holmgren drives me bonkers. There are times out there he looks like he's trying to learn how to ice skate.

OKC vs Indiana will be the lowest rated NBA Finals in decades.
And I don't have any issue with that.

Don't you know, man!!  All these fouls are part of the plan to put the smallest market cities in the finals. It'll be a ratings bonanza!!!!!!!!

One of my Dallas uncles offered to buy everyone tickets if we came up for a game so me and my oldest brother are going to drive up from Austin for game 5. (assuming no one gets swept)

Never been to a playoff hockey game. Looking forward to it.

    Let me know if there's a last-minute cancellation. ;)

Seriously though, you'll have a blast. Playoff hockey is the best hockey.
