Great choice.  Also, “Hung Up On a Dream” on the same album (Odyssey [sic] and Oracle).  I have played each dozens of times.

The song was rewritten after Mike Love voiced objections to the lyrics.[16][17] Love stated in a 1993 interview that he found the original lyrics "so totally offensive [and] nauseating" that he refused to sing them.[18] He told Wilson that he was strongly opposed to drugs such as LSD and did not wish for the Beach Boys to be associated with its culture.[19] In his recollection, he was aware of the fact that Wilson had experimented with LSD and knew that the "prevailing drug jargon [suggested] that doses of LSD would shatter your ego, as if that were a positive thing... I wasn't interested in taking acid or getting rid of my ego."[20] He said, "The people that I'd seen indulge in those things exhibited behaviors and mannerisms that left much to be desired."[16]

    Great explanation.

my favorite off Pet Sounds is maybe Caroline No. But man, Wouldn’t It Be Nice is an all time great opening track and a fairly perfect song.

i was never a teenager in white 1960s middle America, but that album makes me feel like I was

I love Caroline, No, Wouldn’t it Be Nice and Here Today.  Great music.

That’s great.  I’m a CBer, but have never done Rambo.

I did Independence Pass on New Years Day in the middle of a blizzard in a 1986 Toyota Supra turbo.  It’s my understanding that they just close it during winter now.  That was not the case in 1994.  Everything since has been a walk in the park.

Just wow.  I had no idea that Independence Pass was ever open in winter.  That can be an adventure in the summer.  Makes Monarch Pass look like pasture land.

We did 114 in great weather - sunny as could be but, yes, it was an uncomfortably quiet ride.  I'm not a huge fan of desolation in case things go south.

Sure is cool to eventually make that approach into Crested Butte, though.

I’m 66 years old and this brings great memories of early 2000’s great ski trips.  Now we live here, but my knees are toast - green slopes only, but it is still a great place and home.

OK, I feel ashamed to ask this question, because I know the area like the back of my hand... but only during the summer.  I'm not a skiier, but we're leaving tomorrow to drive up to CB to take our boys (and meet/bring home the one in school up there).

Any insight on winter driving Monarch (US 50) vs. Cochetopa pass (CO 114) to get to Gunnison?  I know a lot depends on current weather (plug for the COtrip site/app), but it seems like a tradeoff between Cochetopa being an easier and lower elevation pass vs. Monarch being more likely to be plowed/maintained due to more traffic.

(and 4WD SUV with tread meeting traction laws on Michelin M/S tires)

I live in Mt. Crested Butte, and we have had almost no bad experiences on Monarch Pass in hundreds of trips.  They keep US-50 clear as best they can.  The only problem is if the storm breaks before you get to the pass.  CO 114 has no shoulders and VERY little traffic.  I am not comfortable there in rough weather.  My suggestion is check the weather and highway reports and generally default to US-50.

  8. KC lost Mahomes last week, and the back-up took them 98 yards for a decisive TD.

SF lost Purdy and put in a Bougar-munching nitwit who had no chance.  He should not be a flag football QB.  And yet, he had been the QB 2 since Thanksgiving.  There are decent QBs out there.   Terrible roster management by SF, Lynch and Shanahan.

That’s not even debatable. Is Charlie Strong a better coach than Sark is the real question. That’s how bad it is

Charlie Strong isn't a better coach than anyone.
