This is great and all, but I kinda hope we get the Stanford TE. I don't want the 'Horns to be the team that won an NC with a bunch a Bama defectors.

I mean... I'll take the NC either way and cheer. Just stating a preference.

Every team in the nation is hoping for Bama fallouts to end up on their teams.  Fuck that.  If they’re looking for better situations and Texas is the destination and we win.  It’s not some asterisk win…it’s literally what every other team is striving for.

I'm not narrowing it down to one game. This isn't the first time his O has struggled.

    Bingo. More or less.

I did watch the game and everyone since sark has been here. Everyone was discussing catch radius and I was saying that hasn’t been challenged much here.  Sark normally doesn’t call jump balls.  He schemes guys open, that doesn’t mean his shit always works as we’ve seen, hence the offense struggling.   Seems like that was where the discussion was going and that was what I was responding to.

  3. One of sarks positives as an OC is he schemes guys open.   It then just depends on the qb putting it in the basket.  We haven’t seen a whole lot of contested catches.  Other OC’s just think our best players will win on a jump ball.  Who knows if our guys have great catch radius.   Seems like it hasn’t  been tested much outside of worthy not adjusting.  One ball yesterday was on 4th and it was a toss up to AD and the defender showed up early and he had no chance.

Crystal Ballin: Three crystal ball predictions for Texas Longhorns' top targets

The Texas Longhorns have kicked off their biggest official visit weekend of the summer in style and serious momentum is building on the Forty Acres after the nation's No. 2 running back Jerrick Gibson gave a pledge to Steve Sarkisian and Co. just before two o’clock earlier today. Here are some crystal ball picks that reflect recent intel gathered by the Horns247 staff and myself.

    Colin Simmons, EDGE, Duncanville

    Pick: Texas

    Confidence: 6

Texas official visit dates: June 23-25

With the move to the SEC on the horizon, the EDGE position is without doubt the biggest position of need in this year's class, and Simmons is without doubt the No. 1 player on the Longhorns board regardless of position. With that being said, Steve Sarkisian and his staff have made landing their most valued target at their most valued position a theme since they arrived on the Forty Acres by signing Arch Manning, Anthony Hill, and Kelvin Banks, and after speaking with a source I expect Sark and his staff to continue the streak into the 2024 cycle with the No. 1 rated EDGE in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

While my crystal ball prediction was entered with a confidence of 6, timing of a commitment could have a major impact on this recruitment as Simmons has long planned for an announcement later in the cycle, and so far the five-star has only taken four official trips to Miami, Alabama, SMU, and of course Texas, but there’s still a high chance Simmons ends up setting in-season officials to several other schools.

    Kobe Black, CB, Waco Connally

    Pick: Texas

    Confidence: 6

Texas official visit dates: June 23-25

Over the span of the 2024 cycle, Kobe Black has become one of the more popular names for Texas fans as the Longhorns have been in pursuit of the nation’s No. 2 cornerback for quite some time.

Black has visited Texas more than any other school in his recruitment, and the proximity of the Forty Acres paired with the familiar faces in Austin in Jelani McDonald and Tre Wisner has ultimately led me to entering in a crystal ball prediction with a confidence of 6 for the Waco Connally star. Like Simmons, Black’s timeline could make it harder for Texas to get the five-star in the class sooner rather than later, as Black has already planned in-season official trips to Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M.

    Jordon Johnson-Rubell, S, IMG Academy

    Pick: Texas

    Confidence: 6

Texas official visit dates: June 23-25

I’ve joined 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Mike Roach in entering a crystal ball prediction in favor of Texas for Top247 safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell.

Whether Johnson-Rubell was playing his high school football for Fort Worth Brewer or IMG Academy, sources behind the scenes have always been adamant in mentioning Texas as being in the mix for the four-star, but after speaking with another source I’m under the impression the Longhorns have officially taken the lead. It also doesn’t hurt the Horns chances that they landed Johnson-Rubell’s teammate Jerrick Gibson earlier today and are trending for another IMG Ascender in Jayden Jackson who is also on campus this weekend, along with having TJ Lindsey on campus who will be playing his last year of high school ball at IMG in the fall.

New guy with 6 6 6….let’s see how this plays out…

  5. I just don’t think that Aggie can conceive that UT will always hate them but might actually respect them if they actually do something. I feel that way about OU.  Hate them but got to respect them for at least football (and their softball is legit) and all their accomplishments.  There is difference in pure hatred and pure hatred and annoyance. ATM is the epitome of fucking annoying because they talk about all the great things they’ll do but haven’t acutely done those things.  And how do you know how to do those things when you’ve actually never done them….but then again, trying to understand Aggie is always going to be a problem.

Mike at Night: Rumors heating up as Signing Day nears

    — There's a lot of buzz around Denver Harris at the moment. The five-star cornerback from North Shore had a quiet recruitment, but there are quite a few variables coming into play right now. For a long time, the public word was the race would be between Texas and Alabama, but Texas floundered on the field while Alabama never seemed able to sink its teeth in. LSU has always been a threat as well thanks to his relationship with Corey Raymond. Raymond leaving for Florida changes the math for LSU while Elko's departure from Texas A&M could disrupt the Aggie momentum. This morning, I flipped my pick to Texas A&M, but there is enough noise around Texas to consider at the moment. I know where the noise is coming from, but it's hard to tell what's real and what isn't. This recruitment has been as hard to nail down as any I've ever covered, so there's certainly potential for a blind spot there. Behavior tells me Texas A&M is the move right now, but Harris succeeded in keeping things under wraps throughout the entirety of this recruitment. We will keep checking with sources all the way until signing day.

    — Texas continues to plug away at four-star Little Elm cornerback Terrance Brooks as well. The staff has given the family a lot to think about, and this one could go down to the end. Brooks will sign Wednesday morning, and there's anticipation that Brooks could be making a decision between Texas and Ohio State when he puts pen to paper. One source last week told me it was close to 50-50 at the time. As of tonight, there is some buzz about Brooks and the Longhorns that is getting stronger. We will monitor over the next day.

    — I think Texas lands Arlington Seguin cornerback Xavion Brice if they continue to push flipping him from Oklahoma, but I have to wonder how Brooks and Harris alter that. The numbers at defensive back are starting to get out of whack. Right now there may be more players wanting in than they have room for. The loss of Kobie McKinzie does help free up another scholarship. McKinzie's recruitment is one of the more peculiar ones I've ever seen and we will go into more detail in our behind-the-scenes in February.

    — Armani Winfield will be another name to watch down the stretch.  The former Texas commit has been in communication with Texas since right after he decommitted and a source told Horns247 at that time there was some regret there.  Both sides really re-engaged over the last few weeks, and Winfield will get together with his family tonight to talk about a possible decision.  Baylor and Michigan State are the main two schools I'm watching for Winfield against Texas, and he will announce his decision on Wednesday afternoon in a ceremony at his school.

Feel like we could start a new thread for Roach.  Call it Roach “see it to believe it.”  I’m not sure 5 words ever described someone more perfectly….

It's also why you're seeing legislators from Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU rally today to file legislation blocking any state school from switching conferences without legislative approval

I think we can all assume carnage and disappointment. Apparently Sarkisian can't close. Hutson is a silent and has a mother who has been a Texas honk his entire recruitment. Robertson's family would prefer he stay here and don't see a dramatic difference in degree upside from Stanford versus what he'll pursue at Texas or some shit. I think the family has a strong network. Maybe early enrollment is a thing on that one as well. Hell, I can't remember. Both are tough dudes on the field, so fucking great, let's get them. If Texas whiffs on either guy, fuck me, fuck you, fuck them, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah.

As of right now, I'd say there are multiple things working against Texas in the recruiting realm. Some, like payola infrastructure, I don't really give a fuck about because I honestly believe Texas is going to be a king on the NIL front for its players. Other shit, like shit that other teams can spew about Sarkisian or UT? I don't know what can happen in that regard other than winning and Sarkisian proving over the duration of a season that he's not on the sauce.

Make no mistake, these other staffs are throwing everything they can at badmouthing UT and they have a metric ton of shit that is viable in one form or another that they can use - EOT, Booze, NFL Draft Picks, Winning, you name it. Some of it we may disagree with, but our perception is not a recruit or a recruit's family's perception.

This is it 100%.  This is a really great staff overall and if they can coach up what we got, everything that is now a concern, won’t be a concern later.

Ha, ok. He poured money into the oregon football program at a loss for years now. Yes he fucking will. And if Michael Dell won’t he can get all the way fucked and stay fucked until judgement day or Texas-19 stops being obtuse. Too close to call, imo.

I wouldn’t think any company worth a shit would throw endorsements out unless it would also benefit them unless they were also friends of the program.
