Is this year preseason discussion better or worse than the year some of the players and their enablers tried to cancel the Eyes of Texas?

Every post on surly is worse than the one that came before it.

I mean...the jokes are writing themselves at this point...

That's the parody account right?  Right?

Yeeeeeeeeah Ketchum saying he "never runs" is the only accurate thing he reported this week.

These fucks just make shit up and every time one puts something out the others immediately copy it so they all see credible. But they're all just full of shit and have no sources.

Ketch deserves every bit of mockery headed his way for shitting the bed this thoroughly. That said, I can't bring myself to think he just straight up invented a source and spouted bullshit. I think most people thought it'd probably be Quinn (for good reason); that's why the story blew up in the first place. If you're gonna straight up lie about knowing the outcome of a QB battle, why stake your service's reputation (lol) on the underdog winning? Why not have your fake source just say "Sark is strongly leaning Quinn and it's a matter of time. The talent and upside are too much."

There's probably a kernel of truth tucked away somewhere in what he reported. But that kernel probably came from someone with no idea what they were talking about--which he then incompetently investigated and irresponsibly published because, and this is key, he's a shit reporter.

God damn.  I really think he looks like he belongs at OU or some other douchenozzle school.  He better fucking be worth it.

Douchey players that win games > Clean cut players that can't get bowl eligible.

Semantics!  Awesome. I’m not gonna argue with you any more, because you thought Cam Rising or Connor Brewer were going to be legitimate prospects, and you have a fundamental misunderstanding about how abysmal our QB recruiting has been since Vince Young.

It's not semantics, it's the actual meaning of the term 'blue chip' as pretty much everyone uses it. There's a pretty broad consensus that the term 'blue chip' roughly refers to consensus four- and five-star prospects. I think your understanding of the term is wrong.

I also never said I thought Cam Rising and/or Connor Brewer were going to be legitimate prospects: I gave you their names and their rankings along with other highly-touted blue chip QB recruits. So you're wrong about that as well.

And even though it's not what I'm arguing, I think your comment suggesting that Rising obviously wasn't a legitimate prospect is interesting because OU and Wazzu offered him. I'm honored to be talking to some random dude on surly who's a better QB evaluator than Lincoln Riley and Mike Leach. Or you're just, again, wrong.

I also don't see much point in arguing with you because you can't seem to type a single accurate sentence.

So like I said, Gilbert, Heard and Card. The rest aren’t highly rated enough to elevate a program. And probably ranked far too high.  It’s a recruiting issue.

You said that you would like to understand who the "blue chip QB recruits are, 'year after year'." Do we agree that the term "blue chip" refers to a consensus four- or five-star recruit? Do we agree that all those guys played at Texas? Over the course of several years? I'm trying to figure out which part you didn't understand.

I really would like to understand who these blue chip QB recruits are, “year after year”. We had Gilbert, Card, possibly Heard, and a bunch of spares from a rating standpoint - including Casey and Sam. Year after year, the best QBs go elsewhere and generally out of state. This is a big problem. This is our concern dude.

It's not that hard to understand, honestly.

    1. Garrett Gilbert - #2 QB recruit
    2. Connor Wood - #5 Pro-style recruit
    3. David Ash - #7 Pro-style recruit
    4. Connor Brewer - #4 Pro-style recruit
    5. Tyrone Swooopes (technically an ATH but #7)
    6. Jerrod Heard - #2 Dual QB
    7. Shane Buechele - #3 Dual QB
    8. Sam Ehlinger - #4 Dual QB
    9. Cam Rising - #11 Pro QB
    10. Roschon Johnson - #6 Dual QB
    11. Hudson Card - #2 Dual

That's who those blue chip QB recruits are, and only one of them was a competent D1 starter at Texas.
