Why the fuck is Rattler on this list? No way in hell will he receive votes.

Any qb starting for Riley will be a heisman hopeful every august.   But he will receive plenty of votes by december when they see how good he is.

    5. SAM EHLINGER, TEXAS (+1800)

Coming off another impressive season statistically for the Longhorns, Ehlinger enters his senior season at Texas with one last opportunity to win a Big 12 Championship, something he has tried to obtain since his arrival in Austin. Marking his third season as the starter for Tom Herman, Ehlinger this fall gets a new offensive coordinator to bring out his best, Mike Yurcich (Ohio State). Ehlinger rushed and threw for more yards last season than he did in 2018 and has 80 total touchdowns over his last 27 starts. Texas also backtracked from 10-4 to 8-5. If the Longhorns contend for a Big 12 title this fall, Ehlinger will likely have the numbers to be in the Heisman Trophy discussion at the end of the regular season.

Hey #5 on the heisman odds! holy smokes! That's really impressive.   A 4th year player, with nearly 40 games under his belt, he guy has really paid his dues and has earned it.

Out of curiosity, who is #4 on that list?  Here's the link-

None of us know if the remaining conferences can pull this off.  What history and neutral appraisers of university quality and competence tells us is this:  THE University of Texas is capable of doing this, if it can be done at all.  UT is professional, competent, vigilant, tone-aware, cutting edge and takes the long view.  None of those things can be said without smirking of OU.  Not one of those things.  OU is opportunistic, corner-cutting and, while their recent history doesn't indicate out-and-out rule breaking, it absolutely suggests a laxity of standards of behavior on the part not only of their student athletes, but a desire to cover up said transgressions by the coaching staff, school administration and local law enforcement.  Coupled with their disciplinary issues regarding some key players and a highly questionable returning squad, who is surprised with their reluctance to see this season through?  Lincoln Riley was gifted by Bob Stoops with a humming machine, and he has no idea how to deal with adversity.

Meh, OU success was completely predicated on the offense from 2015 to now.  Why 2015? Because That's was Riley's 1st season as OC.  in 2012 they were #12, 2013 they were #53 In 2014 they were #24 and in Riley's first season #7. From 2016 on his offenses have been top 2 every season.  So when he took over in his 3rd year in the program, it was humming because of his offense.  And now he's recruiting better talent than Stoops ever was able to get, and is getting in the ears of the kind of defensive recruits that havent even considered OU since the early 00's.

Everyone is excited to get the season going!  Who wouldn't want to go for 6 straight? Rattler is the real deal.   Should be an awesome season for the big 12 if texas can keep their end of the deal up and make things interesting.

Not 100% sure, but starting to smell really opportunistic on Lincoln's part to avoid playing football this Fall.

Riley's current team has personnel deficiencies, and Texas  has a much better 2020 roster with Ehlinger..  There is significant doubt that blOU can win the B12 in 2020.  Crazy how Covid-19 may provide the perfect cover for Blinkin' to weasel out of a terrible season for blOU... if the 2020 season happens, don't be surprised when blOU loses three B12 conference games.

    FUCK 2020!!!

You are going to be bewildered when OU wins their 6th consecutive conference title.

Also I would love to make some easy money off of you. Could you be talked into making a $50 wager on your prediction that OU loses 3 conference games?

Who cares about conference championships in the long run? Only national championships are remembered. And we have the most recent.

Well, in the current climate, the big 12 champ is the only big 12 team with a chance to get in to the playoff, which is the only way to win a national title. So until texas cares about winning the big 12, they'll never win another natty.

  6. What will it take to beat OU ?

"So what’s it going to take? It’s going to take a continued effort to recruit elite talent and to develop that talent and then hopefully one of these days they’ll stop having first- and second-round draft picks at quarterback,"

Good luck with that one.  They have Rattler and then Williams  in the fold.

  8. Lulz. See my first post.
Filtering out garbage time and adjusting for strength of opponent is not “getting into the minutia.”

our defense wasn’t great last year and it isn’t great this year, but neither was anywhere near bottom 100.

For example, Clemson was the best team in the country last year pretty much there is no doubt there really is no argument there. Mostly because of that ridiculous defense. We don’t need advanced stats to see that, they were top five in points allowed & yards allowed per game- no adjustment needed. There is no advanced metrics needed to make their numbers look good. They just look good because they were that damn good. If you have to use advanced metrics to loop the numbers around to make them look good, well, that’s just not nearly as cool. I figured being a Matthew McConaughey fan you would understand cool.

  9. No, actually points per possession is that indicator. If you give up 90 yards per drive, but on average only 1 point, you will rank dead last in raw numbers, but pretty definitely you'll go undefeated, assuming your offense has a pulse. Context is everything. For example, you being a bitch-ass on the internet is not proof that you're a bad person; it's just an indicator that you're probably not very happy.

The truth be told, I am actually quite the incredible person. I was born deaf, yet I can hear. I taught myself how to fly when I was five years old, I killed my first man when I was seven, and I was a published Author by my 13th birthday. By the time I was 30 I had already served 12 years in prison, into this day haven’t lost a single game of chess in the United States Penal institutions.

Beside from that, points and yards given Up are very accurate indicators as to where a defense is.

Looking at raw yardage numbers is no way to assess a defense. FEI, SP+, Adjusted stats and probably any other advanced metric you can find has us well inside the top 100.

The yards you give up is an indicator of how soft the defense is though.  It will be exploited by an actual elite offense who can convert for points.   It's not always a good look if you have to get into the minutiae of adjusted stats to make the numbers look respectable.   Either way the point was to indicate that the texas defense is not as good this year, it's not just me saying it. I can't see them holding OU's offense under 500 yards and 40 points.  Injuries will unfortunately be a factor saturday.

I didn’t call you any names. Lulz.

There’s nothing to discuss because we don’t have a bottom 100 defense.

Well, depends on what we are talking about. Theyre 104th in yards given up per game (441 ypg).  110th in yards per play (6.14)  Now, in terms of points per game given up, that's much, much better, at 68th.    Perhaps you are only looking at points given up per game? They are right where they were last year in scoring, but are still giving up more yards.  I suspect if OU's tackles dont play like crap that they will be able to put up about 500 yards saturday.

My D took a step back with your mom last night.

My mother is suffering from two different types of cancers because she was just stupid enough to smoke cigarettes for 50 years. That said, thank you for showing her a good time, it's been a while for her. Also you'll need to see a doctor.

I see why you have a red number next to your name with idiotic posts like this.

Happy to discuss this in more detail instead of name calling.  I think it's pretty clear that the texas defense has taken a step back this season. Or  am i wrong? Happy to discuss but if you wanna call me names, i guess you can do that too.  Anyway, feel free to respond like an adult and we could maybe even have a real conversation about this topic before it turns into insults and other boring stuff.  I love talking football tho!
