  1. Ridiculous?  Hmmmmmmm..........   So you do not believe alcoholism is a disease?    And the fact that Dusty has been sober for 10 years, and is one of the best young football color commentators in the country (and an outstanding citizen) should give you pause before criticizing Stoop's "character redshirt"?     Dusty credits Stoops with an intervention that turned his life around completely.   Coaches can't control totally control players' actions for the rest of their lives.  But occasionally they can  give a kid an appropriate punishment, and help them regain their balance in life.    Same with Mixon.  He walked the straight and narrow path for 3 years after sitting out for an entire year, and became a pretty decent pro ball player.    If you want a coach that throws young men away like trash if they make a mistake or have a problem, you can probably find one.   But I wouldn't brag about it when you do.   (And occasionally you err, and a second chance doesn't help - then you regretfully waive goodbye).

The short answer is that all of those coaches get away with things at their schools they 95% chance wouldn't get away with at Texas, either because Texas wouldn't allow it or because our neighbors would expose us in a New York minute.

    Things like:
    - legally gray area PEDs, because the NCAA testing program is a joke
    - letting boosters have 'access'
    - turning a blind eye to payments to player/recruit families
    - player/recruit families getting hooked up
    - turning a blind eye to player misconduct and off the field issues, including violent crimes and assaults
    - letting recruit's 'uncles' have a hand in the recruiting process.

That's not an exhaustive list of things or schools or coaches. It's just shit we don't do that others do.

Just curious......  Do you need a tube to blow smoke up your own ass, or do your lips reach that far?

  3. PTSD - When a sound, smell, or visual occurrence brings back direct, unprocessed memories of past traumatic experiences.   Don't worry - It's natural for a Texas fan to get nauseous when they hear "Boomer Sooner".    Also perfectly understandable why other people don't.
