I've got a buddy about a decade older than me who attended in the 70s. Plan II and obviously whip smart. Graduated law school with honors here while my not so smart ass was relegated to Lubbock when the powers that be finally detected my dumbassedness.

Anyway I've got friends who attended in the 70s, 80s (me), 90s etc. and they all had fond memories but the 70s absolutely ruled. Best movies, TV and music ever

Please go on, and here in this thread. Your fond remembrances make me feel really good.

Going off his 247 profile that got updated, looks like TyAnthony Smith checked in at 6-0.5 ft., 185 lbs.

Hopefully he's able to put on significant (he'll have to add almost 1/6 of his current weight to play at ~215 lbs.) good weight. Seems much more likely we end up with another Mo Blackwell-ish tweener.

  3. I'll add to this--why the hell not?

No one in the entire stadium but the band cares about the band. Not even band members' parents, at least not after the first performance of the season.

The band goes in front of a stadium of people and then does something purely for their own enjoyment. Basically, they jack off at midfield and then pretend you're a philistine for not enjoying it.

Per Gerry, Winfield ran a 4.59 laser 40 on Sunday. Evan Stewart was sub-4.5.

4.59 seems at least adequate for cfb given Winfield doesn’t rely on his speed. Not sure how well he separates—Is this the reason for Gerry’s skepticism?

CeeDee Lamb ran a 4.50 at 6’2”, 198 lbs. at the combine. I wouldn’t think Winfield running a 4.59 before his senior year of hs would be a red flag, especially for a guy with his size and skills.

  5. The "maybe he's a take as a TE" angle to the Phaizon imbroglio (which seems like bullshit) has me curious about TE evaluation.
It would be too easy to just take a WR who's at least 6'3" with a big frame and assume he can add the weight and play the (TE) position. Malcom Epps is a good, disappointing example.
Seems like there are plenty of guys with the size/frame to play the position. Is it super rare these guys also move well and have decent hands? Is it harder than I assume to become a competent blocker? Are talented prospects missed because not enough college offenses make good use of a well-rounded TE?
I would think after the impact Kelce, Waller, et al. are making in the NFL that more HS kids would be interested in playing TE and therefore college coaches could get some kind of recruiting advantage by emphasizing the position. Throwing it out there for discussion's sake.

Are you calling us a CFP-contending program? When have we ever contended for the playoff?

August? Every year I buy into the preseason hype to a far greater extent than I should. Before last season began, drunk on bullshit "practice reports," I had a level-ten erection for the destruction Malcolm Epps was about to unleash. JFC.

Kai Money has been doing more it seems.

It's depressing that our WRs--whole team in general, really--are bad enough at the fundamentals that the nice kid who tries hard but has DII-level athleticism, a kid whose being suggested for serious playing time at a CFP-contending program should elicit nothing but laughter, can seem like a good option for no reason other than he can run a route as expected and is more likely than not to catch a pass thrown his way. He's the third-best WR on an average high school team, not Hunter Renfrow.

Didn't get to see the aggy/Bama game yet - but after hearing all about how King reminded them very much of Colt McCoy on his game-ending drive it was nice to see someone post the King drive as a separate video.

Looks like he's doing the "pull the ball back and hold it behind your ear" set up to throw, much like freshman Jimmy Clausen. Thought that went out of style a long time ago.

  9. To add to the "Who will be the OT takes for 2021?" discussion, I put together this list of guys either from Texas or committed to a close-ish school, with Hayden Conner thrown in for comparison. (I included Josh Sales because Mark Hagen, and Tate Williams (who is listed as an OG) to ask if he's really as good as his ranking would indicate.) Looking at OTs currently committed to other Big 12 schools for flip candidates, it certainly seems to be the case that Texas is not alone in struggling to find quality options.
