I'm glad you said that because I just checked his stats from last year and they're not too impressive. Of course, when you're a receiver, a lot depends on your QB and in high school that's a crap shoot.

Brownsboro has been operating with small scrappy quarterbacks with limited arm strength for as long as I can remember.

I’ve always wondered what coaches think of us landing the helicopter on the middle of their fields. I just imagine a bunch of shit flying around the field upon landing and taking off that some poor sophomore team manager has to pick up and reorganize.

They had that portion of the practice field coned off and we were warned not to let our students out of class. The place the helicopter landed is a junior high practice field and they don't leave anything out there.

  3. I also attended Fred's weekly luncheons at the Texas Union when I was a student from 79-83. My friend and I would get there early so we could sit right across the table form Coach Akers. He was truly a nice humble person who always politely answered all of our stupid questions. RIP

    Offense needs more ball movement

The problem is no movement away from the ball. The Horns never set any screens away from the ball. They have a ball screen at the top of the key while the other three guys just stand around the three point line. If you designed a drinking game where you had to drink every time Shaka's team set an off-ball screen, you would stay dead sober every game.

BJ unilaterally quit on his coaches in a moment of anger. For the coaches to react by unilaterally quitting on BJ by throwing him off the team in a moment of anger over what he did probably isn't the right way to respond. BJ is an emotional young man who appears to have a lot of growing up to do. The coaches, a group of grown men tasked with helping BJ grow up, need to be better.

They should talk to BJ, talk to his family (as I understand he has a good one), talk to the leadership council, and talk to his other teammates. If they decide that it'd be best for BJ and best for the team for BJ to leave the program, then they should help him on his way out. But if they decide that there's a path for BJ to earn back the copious amount of trust he lost this weekend, and he's committed to following that path while accepting the consequences for what he did, then I don't see what's to be gained by kicking him off the team.

This is an intelligent and well thought out post. Are you sure you are in the right place?
