Our offense will struggle until we get a good to very good O'line.

Once that happens our RB's will be better,  our receivers will get better because the QB has more time to throw and it will be easier to recruit better O'linemen.

    BINGO!

"noisy".... barring a scandal or some kind of catastrophic collapse (sub .500), Herman has nothing to worry about this year re: his job

Even if there were an irrefutable groundswell among the BFD's to get rid of him, the budget won't stand the buyouts--for both Herman and however many assistants would have to be paid off. We're coming off a severely down income year for the football program, which drives all that Title IX shit, as well as other things.

No, barring a 2-8 collapse or the live girl-dead-boy metaphor coming true in real life, we're going to be blessed with The Herminator at least for two more years.

  3. You guys are terrible. The kid can't help it he was born butt-ugly. You think he hasn't heard about it all his life? On the playground? In the hall? In the lunchroom? And from his look, he's mentally challenged too. Just look at that "hair" and, of course, the fact that he voluntarily went to blOw-U.  I, for one, regret all the hurtful things that have been said about him on this board. If he were here in person right now, I'd look him in the eye and say, "Damn, son, you're one ugly motherfucker."

Hard to tell.  I accept that Oline takes time to develop and there's no quick fixes.

There has been some improvement under Hand, but it seems to be fits and starts.  And there seem to be signs of lack of fundamental coaching (penalties, inability to handle things like twists and stunts), but it could just be stupid players.

He's entering his third season.  Do we really have enough data?

For me. Twice, Tech's 3-man rush got to Sam. Three rushers. Texas Tech. Both Brocks to 'bama. I'm convinced.

  5. To me, the main knock with Hand is recruiting. By all accounts, this recruiting year was a banner year for OL and we whiffed on all our primary targets and now we're begging second-, third-, and fourth-level guys to come. Anybody who knows football knows it starts up front--control of the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. We're much better off with the DL than we are with the OL. Given the relatively long development cycle for OL, we need to be putting good  talent into the pipeline now for two or three years down the road and we're . . . not.
