  1. That was one of those games that was awful but the right coach with the proper level of screaming, conditioning, and coaxing plus a tune up game or two could get the team in a killer mindset, out for blood out of embarrassment and anger. Let's see if Sark/these boys got that. That OSU team that won in all in 2014 and looked like one of the best teams I've ever seen sneaked past Navy and got smacked around by a 7-6 VT team the first two weeks of that season for example.

The only team Louisiana Lafayette 'punched the lights out' on last year was Louisiana Monroe.  They had 6 wins by one score or less.  They beat Iowa St off of two special teams scores and two turnovers - they had 270 total yards of offense against Iowa St.  They couldn't stop the run last year and that is by far Texas biggest strength on offense.

Napier deserves respect for the job he has done - but this is Louisiana Lafayette.

Sorry, I should have worded more clear. We have a tendency to play sloppy. Hopefully Sark has that clamped and there nothing there to worry. If not ULL, while being talent wise inferior, seems to have a decent ability off profiting off opponents mistakes.

This is a ranked team that also had 1 score games with Georgia State, Georgia Southern, UAB, Arky St, Appy St, and UTSA

Hence, let them. They know how to finish games but the talent isn't there. If we are tuned up we shouldn't worry too much but any slop and its gonna get messy.

I think it'll be something like 31-17/35-17. Close until the 4th when our line eventually wears theirs out.

They are a good, solid team and return iirc 10 starters. This isn't Nicholls.

This is a ranked team that played Coastal well and beat Iowa State handily last year. Billy Napier will be a first call for open positions next year. They will punch our lights out if we let them.

    You're missing my point.

CFB had a unique brand.  This will destroy that.  It's now NFL 2.0.  It's like Coke coming out with "New Coke" to compete with Pepsi by basically eschewing it's recipe for Pepsi 2.0.  The fans didn't like it.

Full disclosure: I'm an old fart in a relatively young body.  I think the jumbotrons were the beginning of CFB giving up it's unique gameday experience.  This is just the final step in the complete conversion to a minor league of the NFL.

CFB nfl-ized years ago. I get the fears, but we crossed that rubicon long ago.

I'm all for it as long as the skill guys don't start doing shit on the field to draw attention to themselves. Could you imagine Terrell Owen's playing college ball while promoting himself.

I’m not sure why you’re here. You’re an insufferable prick in any thread.

The comparisons to Michigan and OU/OSU are kinda valid in that they comprise the top 2 rivalries in college football and both have similarities: Michigan and Texas own the series record, and all-time wins (until our recent downturn where we moved to 4th, supplanted by OSU and Bama), OSU and OU have more Titles and Heisman winners and have had better recent history within each respective series. I don’t get into academic smack talk, but understand the Michigan-Texas Public Ivies comparisons. Fact is, OSU is up there academically as well and far surpasses OU.

But culture being culture, we are much more akin to OU than any Midwest school, even if UT grads are more cultured and affluent than OU grads. And clearly, there is some Michigan-Ohio-Pennsylvania cultural connection and in the last 10 years, it’s seedy side has shown its ass to the world. If I were a Penn St or Michigan fan before, I would no longer be so. If I were a Baylor grad, I’d have a really hard time rooting for them with the way their admin bungled the Briles deal, and they should have nuked the basketball program after Bliss. Baylor grads I know are pretty measured in their responses post Briles. Penn St fans are not, and I cannot stand that school. I am encouraged that there are plenty of ex players speaking out against Bo. Harbaugh’s comments are going to hasten his demise.

PSU fans are the actual worst. I was in the mid-Atlantic for a bit and there's a lot of paterno truthers.

Absolutely. Too bad McCoy's 2008 team was screwed over and they could not face Florida instead of a weaker OU team.

Tebow was nothing more than SEC/ESPN fellatio to the point where the announcers in the Florida/OU title game told us that you are a better person for just spending 5 minutes with Tebow. It was pathetic to listen to. It made Florida games unwatchable, especially with Vern/Gary on CBS. They would let Tebow fuck their mom in front of them and they'd cheer on.

And I still stand by Sam being the same as Tebow. Just that Tebow played in one of the best scenarios you could be in. Urban Meyer as your coach. NFL talent all over the field on both sides. Just go out talent your opponents on a weekly basis (like how Bama does these days). Put Tebow in Sam's situation with fucking Tom Herman and those TX teams and he doesn't come close to doing what he did at Florida.  But surround Sam with Tebow's situation at Florida with that coaching and talent and the result is the same.

As a passer, Sam is absolutely and unquestionably better IMO. Tebow, in his running style, is nearly unparalleled though at least in college. Battering ram was an understatement. Sam had his movements but there's a reason why Tim ran for 23 TDs in a season.

Yeah, giving $30M to mom and pop businesses...what a horrible concept

Charity donations are nice, not saying they are absolutely horrid. Let's face it though, the whole brand is TMZ for men.

Odd time to fire an assistant... will be interesting to hear the reasons/excuses why  😋

Even odder for a program that has been producing a ton of great OLmen recently. Wonder if its tied to their scandals of the past year.

  11. More football is always good. Seems like these leagues end up trying to adopt wacky rules to differentiate than NFL, which I think is a mistake. I think they are going to have to live and die by drawing in decent QBs which is a tough task.

My Son is not on the Team,  but close to a number of current players.  He "knew" what had happened before the news was even public.  It's a sobering discussion to have with a 21 year old - and it did hit home - that he and his friends aren't bullet proof, invisible, and immortal even though that's how we all felt at that age.

When you get to the age/maturity, it safe to say almost every man looks backs and wonder how the hell am I still alive? That hit me hard, as there were a couple cases were  I pulled some really dangerous stunts and didn't really think about it all.  Unfortunate that many don't get to make it to that realization.

Meanwhile, few Longhorns have fallen further in my estimation since leaving Texas than Applewhite.  Douche

Buddy of mine worked for both Herman and Applewhite at Houston. Seemed for all Herman's antics, he could never hold a candle to Applewhite in terms being a pure douche canoe.

Just an awful, awful QB. It's almost impossible to suck at that position more than him.

Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings would like to talk to you. Those two buffoons were so bad it was just hard to watch that offense even as a neutral fan.

Should have expected that response, but not gonna follow the rules on that one. I'll just say she is a beautiful girl smart enough to make the 30% acceptance rate at UF and confident enough to try out for UF cheer, although she didn't make the cut.

She also dates a pro baseball player, so you losers wouldn't have a shot anyway.

When you say pro baseball you really mean a D2 burnout with a guy fieri goatee and permanently backwards tactical shades, right?

Quoted for truth. Baton Rouge is the quintessential college town. The number of people who descend upon that town during game day is unreal. No one gives a shit about Tulane, even in their own neighborhood in New Orleans.

The own students (at Tulane) don't even care about the football team. They drink at the tailgate wearing gear, nap, and go out. Don't even attempt to go in the stadium. It's kind of funny to watch.

Tulane is a bogus response as well. Who doesn't love NOLA but that's not a college town. Def should be LSU.

The map is for "best". Outside of a few good restaurants and bars, red stick doesnt have anything notable surrounding the campus...and can easily veer into shithole status if you wander into the wrong part of town.

I mean your competition isn't really there in Louisiana. You take out Tulane for being in a metro city and take out LSU for BR sketchiness I guess ULL is the only other answer you can make without getting laughed out of the building. Unless you are some sort of psycho thinks there nothing better to live than 4 years in Monroe or Ruston
