I guess the new reason will be he was of military age

eight-year-old boy was shot dead as he tried to flee. The child, known as Adam, was hit in the back of the head. His friend Basil, 15, was also shot and died from chest wounds.”

"Israel is a nation of murderers" - Norman Finkelstein (Jewish)

how do 2 boys get grenades anyway? No doubt they were rocks, or just 1 rock, but the IDF treats Arabs like vermin (to the delight of Surly right wingers) and gets away with murder all day all night, then the Jewish nation claims victimhood. Then the Jewish nation claims its all antisemitism, then claims it does not control the US goverment. As RV (poster) said, it's an "idiot world".

  3. still very early , but keep an eye on him.   Media says he's 9-1 , but 2000 was robbed, so he's 10-0.

He has been called the Nostradamus of US presidential elections. Allan Lichtman has correctly predicted the result of nine of the past 10 (and even the one that got away, in 2000, he insists was stolen from Al Gore). But now he is gearing up for perhaps his greatest challenge: Joe Biden v Donald Trump II

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/26/allan-lichtman-prediction-presidential-election#:~:text=He has been called,Biden v Donald Trump II.

‘A lot would have to go wrong for Biden to lose’: can Allan Lichtman predict the 2024 election?

They came up with 13 true/false questions and a decision rule: if six or more keys went against the White House party, it would lose. If fewer than six went against it, it would win. These are the 13 keys, as summarised by AU’s website:

    1. Party mandate: After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the US House of Representatives than after the previous midterm elections.

    2. Contest: There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination.

    3. Incumbency: The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president.

    4. Third party: There is no significant third party or independent campaign.

    5. Short-term economy: The economy is not in recession during the election campaign.

    6. Long-term economy: Real per capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms.

    7. Policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy.

    8. Social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term.

    9. Scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal.

    10. Foreign/military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs.

    11. Foreign/military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs.

    12. Incumbent charisma: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero.

    13. Challenger charisma: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero.

Why not adopt something like the COVID hate crimes bill that addressed violence against those in AAPI communities?

the timing implies the effort to stifle campus protests, since the bill targets Dept of Education funding to schools.  Meaning if you let the Pals on campus, your money is cut off.

That can’t be right?  As much as it is deplorable; hate speech isn’t criminal.  I presume it means if you do any of those things in the act of committing a crime it is a hate crime?

it's censorship, taken from the IHRA definition almost word for word.   International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, a Zionist propaganda group. I'm surprised this took so long as the IHRA has been around for years and the definition embraced by many institutions.

    https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definition-antisemitism

Contemporary examples of antisemitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere could, taking into account the overall context, include, but are not limited to:

    1. Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
    2. Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as collective — such as, especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.
    3. Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
    4. Denying the fact, scope, mechanisms (e.g. gas chambers) or intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany and its supporters and accomplices during World War II (the Holocaust).
    5. Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
    6. Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
    7. Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
    8. Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
    9. Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
    10. Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
    11. Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Antisemitic acts are criminal when they are so defined by law (for example, denial of the Holocaust or distribution of antisemitic materials in some countries).

Criminal acts are antisemitic when the targets of attacks, whether they are people or property – such as buildings, schools, places of worship and cemeteries – are selected because they are, or are perceived to be, Jewish or linked to Jews.

Antisemitic discrimination is the denial to Jews of opportunities or services available to others and is illegal in many countries.

you are Jewish, then tell us what defines a Jew.  It's important in defining the conflict because many believe it's about Judaism (religion) vs. Islam.

There are plenty of Christians who are non-practicing Christians who are Christian by profession or by association without being Christian in practice.

If you claim Jewish is an ethnicity or a race, was Sammy Davis Jr. Jewish?  Is Ivanka Trump Jewish?  Lumping Jewish people into one race did not go well last time.

Doesn't answer the question of what defines being a Jew (also silly obsession with the Holocaust)

So you're saying a Jewish person from Ethiopia and a Jewish person from Hungary are the... *checks notes* same ethnicity or race?

i would counter with the question -- if a Jew from Hungary declares himself an atheist, is he still a Jew? Is he then exactly the same as a Hungarian Christian who also declares himself an atheist?

So what makes someone a Jew?

There has never been a more confusing foreign relations issue for me in my lifetime.  I have many Jewish friends, and many Muslim friends.  I just don't engage in the homeland discussions.  I can't see any clear solution.  Many devout Jews will claim complete ownership of that region dating back to Abraham, but that doesn't pass the sniff test, because there have always been a lot more people of other religions & ethnicities there.

I do know this:  I wish they'd stop shooting each other.  What a shitshow.

most Israeli Jews are not devout , never has been that way.  It's not about religion but ethnicity.

If the game is "one tribe overpowering the other," isn't that what we have now?  Seems like the tribe with the Blue Star on their flag is beating the ever-loving shit out of the other tribe.  Those Blue Star guys seem to be winning by a lot.  Right?

yes, of course (to your delight).  Still, it's not antisemitic to criticize Israel , or even the desire to destroy Israel.  To the main point -- hating Jews has got ZERO to do with the protests.

we have all heard "anti-Zionism is not antisemitism". Many Jewish intellectuals also believe this.

the argument is about hating Jews and being hateful of Israel is automatically antisemitic. It's zero, nor was that ever the cause of the several wars. It's Israeli propaganda, works well, against the backdrop of western Judeo-Christian culture + hatred of Arabs / Muslims.

a lot of being pro-Israel is because on the other side is the hated Arabs / Muslims (muzzies!).  One can easily turn the argument around and say it's all about hating Arabs.  Does American culture have a fondness for Muslims? Will Israel be happy to exploit this fondness?

Your post about the French migrating to England sucks too.  Somewhere, somehow, we're all immigrants.  Leaving Podunk shit town Texas to go to Austin made me a migrant.  Go back far enough in my family tree and we probably lived somewhere in Ethiopia or Kenya, just like the rest of you, who are all descendants of original homo sapiens, making us all immigrants.  I could make some argument for ancestral entitlement to some place all the way from South Texas to North Africa.  And probably there is someone that lived there before me and/or after me that could make an argument too.

You tried to wordsmith the phrase "massacre all the Jews," into "There is no antisemitism in this entire conflict, never has been never will be."

    I think that was bullshit.

I think what you really want to say is "Palestinians have an ancestral right to the land and anyone that gets in their way should be subject to eviction. Even if that requires violence. Jew, redneck or Oklahoma fan, you don't care - if they're on "Palestine," forcibly evict them."  But that's already been said and you want a hot take.

You don't hate Jews because of their genetics, you hate them because they're holding the thing you want.

it's tribal warfare, Jew tribe vs. Arab tribe.  Many nations are formed by one tribe overpowering the other, that's history and that is what we see today. But it's not simply because they are Jews, it's because they are the enemy tribe, easy.  Jews wanted to establish their ethnostate on top of the native Arab population, so we had war.  Doesn't mean the war was based on antisemitism, but this idiocy is based on deeply ingrained western cultural concepts. Your final sentence makes you down to AA ball -- no I don't hate Jews.  My remedy is a 1 state solution where the Jews take over the west bank (which they already have) but give the Arabs full citizenship as do the 2 million Israeli Arabs. Then it's over.

There is no Jew hatred by me, I want them to take everything in a formal annexation.  Duh.

  12. 13 minutes ago, CoTex said:

So, if I say "I want to "massacre all the Jews"," I'm not really saying kill people "because they are Jews," but instead, I'm saying "Jews are the enemy - massacre all?"  I think you outsmarted me on this one.  Maybe try removing the letters "JEW" from your post and replace it with another racial or ethnic term, and see how it plays.  I'll help you get it started:

"The English commanders openly stated they wanted to massacre all the French.  This is not anti-French, because the French are the enemy but they are not the enemy simply because they are French."  "There is no anti-French in this entire conflict, never has been never will be.  Rookie."

    I think your post sucks.

because the French migrated and took over a big chunk of England and the English want to drive them out.  So my post is awesome and yours sucks, because it's very simple and you are indeed a rookie , back to AA ball for you!

I’m with Mikey on this one. Sure we could argue semantics on whether or not wanting the destruction of Israel is anti semetic or not, but it certainly implies you want to kill every resident of the country. I’m sure you’ll argue you don’t but it sure sounds like it to me.

the original 1948 Arab-Israeli war -- the Arab commanders openly stated they wanted to massacre all the Jews.  I would argue even that is not antisemitism, because the Jews are the enemy but they are not the enemy simply because they are Jews.  Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not murdered due to Asian hatred. There is no antisemitism in this entire conflict, never has been never will be.  It's a rookie mistake and a really easy one to overcome.

River to the Sea -- I have spoken with several Palestinians on this issue -- what do you want?? They really don't know themselves, but most say equal rights at a minimum.

the 2 state solution is already dead. Israel is NEVER leaving the west bank, EVER. The Jewish settlers have consumed most of it and that's creeping monthly. The Arabs are being squeezed more and more into ghettos.

"The problem is that people chant "from the river to the sea," which basically rules out a two-state solution, but do not explain what will happen to the Jewish people who have inhabited that land for 3+ generations now. It sure sounds like a masked call at best for subjugation of Jews, and at worst for genocide. "

Lets examine Mikey's quote.   Again, Israel has already ruled out a 2 state solution, it's not just Netanyahu, its the vast majority of the Israeli Jewish population.  The Jews already have control from the river to the sea.  Oh golly, Israel has not explained what will happen to the Arab people who have inhabited that land for 50+ generations. You see, the Arabs are invisible in your mind, they don't exist, Jews are paramount in your thinking.  We already have subjugation of the Arabs and we see a "genocide" of Gaza.  Arabs don't matter at all, they are the enemy of America to most.

yes, if Jews are engaged with the Arabs in a shouting match, or if Jews are wrapped in the Israeli flag of course. I see your angle, that this is all antisemitic, that being BY FAR the most amateurish mistake made in this issue.  The idea of antisemitism is deeply ingrained in this culture, obviously Holocaust, but antisemitism is not why the Arabs fight the Jews.  Jews are the enemy but they are not the enemy simply because they are Jews.  America did not fight Japan because of Asian racial hatred.  BTW, the 3 things you quoted do not contradict each other.

edit expired.. ok i see what you meant about shouting at Jewish students.  If he's just randomly walking down the street, of course not, but if he's showing pro-Israeli gear, of course it's ok, just as it is for Arab students showing pro-Pal gear. What you quoted was in the context of a protest and counter-protest by pro-Israelis, such as when both gather simultaneously at the west mall. After reading your post and my posts, it's easy to see the confusion on my part and yours. So, no, I don't think you were taking the anti-semitic angle - but thinking I was contradicting myself (which I should have input the context of protest/counterprotest).

technically Arabs and Jews are Semites, but obviously "antisemitism" refers to Jews.

    https://www.britannica.com/topic/Semite

Semite, name given in the 19th century to a member of any people who speak one of the Semitic languages, a family of languages spoken primarily in parts of western Asia and Africa. The term therefore came to include Arabs, Akkadians, Canaanites, Hebrews, some Ethiopians (including the Amhara and the Tigrayans), and Aramaean tribes. Although Mesopotamia, the western coast of the Mediterranean, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Horn of Africa have all been proposed as possible sites for the prehistoric origins of Semitic-speaking populations, there remains no archaeological or scientific evidence of a common Semitic people. Because Semitic-speaking peoples do not share any traits aside from language, use of the term “Semite” to refer to the broad range of Semitic-speaking peoples has fallen out of favour. For this reason, some critics even encourage the removal of the hyphen in the term anti-Semitism to help dispel any pseudoscientific notions of a "Semitic race." They advocate instead for the use of antisemitism to describe the hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious or racial group.
