Texas vs Texas State, midweek series thread, March 8th & 9th
Actually just looked - 3 out of 6 appearances have started in the 8th, and 5 of his 7 walks (and one WP) have occurred in those 3 appearances. Maybe small sample size for now.

That's something I was wondering too. Maybe I've been hallucinating all the games this season (hobbes would say so...), but I feel as though he's been called on in the 8th a few times already. It would be nice to get to the 9th reliably and then hand him the ball.

I mentioned in one of the game threads this weekend that I really do like the early season strategy of letting these pitchers get themselves out of these jams. I'm glad Pierce left in Duplantier even through the next inning instead of yanking him in after the GS. These games pale in importance to the conference / late season games, so getting that experience in now will be great.

I mean, reading comprehension. I specifically said relief pitchers. 8 of those 10 walks this week were relief pitchers in 10 innings. LSU stranded 12 runners, Tennessee 8. Regardless, glad we are winning. I think it says a lot about the talent level. Hopefully we can straighten it out come conference play.

Yes? And we had an issue with our relief pitchers throwing strikes. Not sure what's so controversial about that. Literally just wondering if it is some sort of coaching point that we are focused on because it seems endemic.

Did you watch the games this weekend?

2022 Texas Baseball
Does anyone have a runners stranded stat for opposing teams on the year? TXST just stranded 10, I think LSU or Tennessee (or both) stranded double digits. Clearly there is some skill involved from our pitchers to get out of those jams, but also a lot of luck. If we can't throw strikes we may be hurting come conference play.

At what point is the complete inability of all of our relief pitchers to throw strikes indicative of the coaching they're getting?

Can't believe he gave this pitcher that call after how wild he has been this inning.

This bullpen has to work on throwing strikes. We get into these situations because we throw way too many balls. Fortunately we're extremely clutch but days like this are bound to happen.

There's the DP!

I think the strategy was to basically give that lefty nothing to hit since first was open and we only had one out. But, as much as I like winning and want to win this game, I really do like the idea of leaving these young guys in during these situations. Obviously it's a hard line to balance, especially not wanting to tank their confidence, but it's a tightrope that Pierce and Allen have walked beautifully so far. It'll help us in the postseason

Looked close, not too upset they kept the call. The big thing is that with this production it's a crapshoot if you can even see enough detail. These were better 1st base views than yesterday for sure though.

Definitely agree here. That's all we really want.

Think so too. Daly looked to be standing in the base path. Slide looked fine.

Things like this broadcast and those small school midweek ones really make me appreciate the LHN.

I don't understand why the LSU coach is the one arguing and not Pierce? How could that situation possibly benefit LSU?

Nuclear/Catastrophe Planning
Not sure the point here. Of course a 15 mile radius of downtown would be catastrophic. But if you live outside of that (like a lot of people posting), you're probably surviving initially. It's not gonna be quick unfortunately.

Nuclear/Catastrophe Planning
I think a lot of you overestimate the 'vaporize' region of even the largest nukes. If you don't live within 15ish miles of a target, and if you are able to make it inside and can stay there for a few days, you're going to survive long enough to grow into that flaming guitar player on top of the mechanized truck convoy
