I have believed it to be Auburn for about a 2 to 3 weeks now and I have inside intel.

If we bring in Williams, nearly all of our WRs from the last two classes will have been recruited over.

    Strange precedent.

This may sound strange, but maybe we allow Williams go to Auburn to get squandered in year 1 with Freeze to make it easier for KJ Lacey to sell them on joining him with the Horns next January after Bond & Bolden et all declare for the NFL draft 🤷🏼‍♂️

I wonder how this works in regards to insurance. My company was looking into a corporate event that included test driving multiple exotic cars; however, we decided to do something else in the event that someone crashed an Aston Martin and totally fucks up their insurance.

You don't use your normal insurance for an exotic rental, you purchase a policy that coincides with the rental contract. For like an event or weekend rental, it will cost you under $200 usually for the peace of mind that your ass is covered to a certain deductible if you f up while operating the beast.

Isiah Bolden would be insane in 21 personnel with Blue as the other back with Bond, Golden, and Cook/Wingo/Moore.

??? Did you mean Silas Bolden lining up in the backfield as a RB along with Blue?

In 21 you only have 2 WR along with 2 backs and a TE, so you could only pair up with Bond & Golden and not one of the remaining slash guys unless you really meant 20 personnel w/ no TE and 3 WRs plus 2 backs 🤔

For better pass pro and better numbers vs the run, I think the 21 is more versatile than 20 and you can still target Helm or maybe a Niblack/Yurosek type if we land 1 of them in the portal on a delayed release.

I see.  I guess I was wondering - if, for example, Michigan's players can leave due to coaching change opening the portal for 30 more days, but no one can leave from Texas because the portal is closed, would that put us in a pinch at all?

also, if we pursue say a B+ player now, do we regret that if an A player at the same position comes available in a few weeks.

    just wondering.

There is NO cap on numbers in the "off-season"!!!  The 85 limit begins with the start of the new football season, so expect attrition to address whatever "surplus" may exist from the Spring heading into the summer when we expect 5ish additional freshman to join the team from the '24 class.

Spring ball will go a long ways towards defining where the team is at roster wise, the pecking order in the position rooms, where any remaining deficiencies lay, etc.

Post spring there will be another round of 1:1s between Sark and each player and then we'll inevitably see some more portal activity in/out with the end goal of getting the roster and respective players in the best position for success going forward.

I started in the fall of 1991. My initial registration was in the lobby of Jester West standing in line and filling out cards. I am not sure if that was because I was an incoming freshman or if that was the last semester everyone manually registered. The rest of my time on campus, we used TEX. I also had my student ID picture taken in some remote recess of Gregory Gym in late July or early August in the pre-A/C Gregory days. I never lost my ID, so I had the same picture with sweat glistening on my forehead all four years.

I never even saw the internet during my time on campus. I did have a couple of roommates with University e-mail accounts my Junior year, though. Imagine: no texting and no e-mailing to communicate with 50,000 students.

How is that possible? I started Fall '92 and got a university email address on my first visit to the UGL/Peter T Flawn Academic center with their Mac/PC lab since I didn't have a computer of my own in my dorm. Was able to score bob@mail.utexas.edu and was able to keep using it for several years post graduation via a pop server until a faculty member wanted to claim the address and they must have discovered I was no longer enrolled 🤣

What makes it even more ridiculous is that he was recruited to play RT exclusively.

Per Gerry's repeated insistences, but during Sark's signing day presser he mentioned Kelvin Banks as a comp and LT as a possible future. Either way, we could lose both Banks & Williams to the draft after the '24 season, so getting a guy that can lock down one of those spots this cycle is a win.

Stewart is in a contract year, I don't see him going Agyie Hall. Once again, Texas being patient with the portal works out in our favor.

I don't think Texas is thin at WR at all. Cook, Moore, Niblett all in their 2nd year. Golden from the portal, and I think every WR in the 2024 class is an EE.

Wingo & Livingstone are, but not Dubose (should probably RS and work on fully recovering from his ACL anyway)

So none of them found quite the demand from the big boys they were expecting. Hopefully this is a learning experience for other prospective portal hoppers. (Assuming they don't need to jump in the motherfucker for reasons of they'll never play a down at Texas)

I doubt these boys really wanted to leave, but the "honest conversation" Sark has with guys at the end of the regular season informed them where they stand in the pecking order. They may have had no option to stay at UT and still pursue a FB career after being passed up by true freshman & a former walk-on plus being recruited over with an über talented class of '24 group coming in.

Didn't Colt state to Bobby and Gerry recently that he thought both Robinson and Crawford would be late round draft picks based on their particular "boutique" talents which NFL teams find very desirable to have on their roster?

Still likely to be able to pick up both as UDFA. Maybe a 7th round selection if the pro day numbers impress.

That's a recruiting strategy, I guess. What are they telling recruits about the following season?

We're going to suck bad this year. But recruits, keep in mind that it is only going to get worse throughout my tenure.

They could always deploy the Charlie Weiss at KU recruiting pitch 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s about getting to that second contract in the NFL. Doesn’t really matter where he is drafted. Not being a first round pick is advantageous for RB’s IMO since they are generally considered washed by 27ish.

TBF most RBs don't even make it to a second contract, but the league minimum is also more than most will get in NIL sticking around for another season. We'll see whether he likes the draft feedback he gets in December. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The likely OL is Banks, Conner, Hutson, Campbell, Cam Williams.... Lot of talk about center and Hutson. I think he is likely going to slide over and compete with Robertson and Cruz (Gerry loves him). If I had to bet on someone transferring it would be Neto. I hope I am wrong about that, because he has a lot of upside.  I am still hoping he takes over for Conner later in the year, but that dream is slowly dying.

If Neto was planning on transferring, his brothers likely wouldn't have picked Texas. Neto is in the McCombs school and getting developed at OG. I don't think he is leaving without a degree and is a play away from starting at LG as we saw with Hutson going down earlier this year with a knee injury.

Flood knows you don't have to be a 4yr starter to get drafted - you need one really good year and preaches accordingly. If you're in the two deep, keep grinding. If you're only in the three deep and have been passed up by a younger guy, then we may have something to talk about, but in that situation the writing on the wall should be that you're likely going pro in something other than football and do you really want to give up the pancake perks in the meantime voluntarily?

for what it's worth Branch is #16 overall and the #3 WR in the country at Rivals vs Cook at 30 and 5.

Muhammad is #34 in the state and #5 at the position. for him to jump up to 5* territory he would probably need to match Javien Toviano at #25 overall and #3 at the position.

Easy Fix... Toviano has looked more safety like in reps (e.g getting beat 1:1), so swap his ranking with Muhammad's
