Seems like Mitchell, Kirkland, Cojoe, Swanson and Red portaling after Spring would be pretty painless, at least if Mitchell looks to be as much of a washout as early reports indicate
-
Not just that, but development on the fringes of recruiting classes is very important. Turning 3 star types like Murphy/Sweat, Chris Olave, Jordan Davis and Ladd McConkey into Day 1 guys can push a talented program over the edge. That said, the name of the game is still stacking your team with stud top 20 guys that require minimal development to contribute at a high level.
Seems like putting 3 stars in the league would be a mix of good evaluations and development, not necessarily just development -
Aggy is the dude who watches other guys in the locker room shower and then starts talking about how big or small certain dude's dicks are.
Creepy and cringeworthy.
The technical term for this, coined by Bomani Jones if I’m not mistaken, is “meatpeeper”.
Hard to come up with a more accurate label for aggys.- 6

The only franchise that has won more games than the Cowboys the last 3 years is KC
Sounds like a great organization to play and root for, they must have a sharp owner with really happy fans- 1

I stopped drinking on 6/15/23 after a blackout on a work trip that did not feature any disaster or rock bottom type fuck up, then over the holidays decided to take a break from sobriety from Christmas through the Sugar Bowl. Didn’t go nuts, but had probably 4-6 beers each day and it just didn’t really do much of anything for me. Haven’t had anything since.
One of my goals for 2024 was fewer than 12 days drinking, and I’ve thought about using up a day a couple times, including the Super Bowl, but haven’t pulled the trigger. I don’t know why I set that goal instead of zero. I’ve taken an approach this whole time that I didn’t know how long I would be stopping for, I just knew I wanted to stop for a while. Maybe to lessen the pressure that would make me feel like a failure if I slipped up? Either way, I feel like that approach has been more effective for me than a hard, absolute ultimatum imposed on myself.
I certainly do not feel in any position to recommend that or any other advice to anyone though. I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing. I know there are people who benefit more from a “never again under any circumstances” approach, and I would never want to discourage anyone from doing what works for them.
Only sharing to I guess contribute something to what I’ve found to be a valuable thread, and I don’t know, just reinforce that there are different paths?
I hope that anyone struggling is able to stick with it long enough to determine that you like the way not drinking makes you feel more than you like the way drinking made you feel. Or whatever else gets you to not pick up the bottle.
I’ve been able to focus so much better, and I’ve had a lot of realizations about myself, not all of them positive. I’ve found myself much less irritable, and I think it’s due to the fact that so many of my frustrations and triggers that led me to drink were probably just my stupid body trying to convince me to take the medicine it was trained to want. I also feel much less worried, in general.
I hope we are all able to not drink today and can do it again tomorrow. Maybe the one-day-at-a-time approach is just a different version of what I’ve been doing?
May you all have more good days than bad days ahead of you. Godspeed.- 8

Something about the “Can he do it?” really makes this -
Seems like the kinda hype that is worth throwing a kid a couple Gs for a visit in aggy eyes, that kid knows he’s got way better options.
-
Definitely sounds too good to be true but bringing Ewers, Sanders, and Mitchell back would be a wet dream.

Texas 44
Washington 34
Penix 32-48 3 TDs 1 int 4 sacks -
I feel like he made more shit happen for himself and the team today than he ever has before, in terms of buying more time with awareness and getting to second and third reads. Some good scrambling too.
Dude balled the fuck out today. In the most consequential game of his career.
Minus like 2-4 bad throws, one of which was really bad.
This offense is so dangerous with him on like this.- 1

If we are going to use results from previous seasons, lets throw the 2019 Sugar Bowl into the mix. It is every bit as relevant.
To be clear, I’m not saying I think Georgia should get a spot if they lose. The “shoulds” don’t matter because the committee doesn’t have a transparent process and can do whatever the fuck they want with 4-7 teams on Sunday and don’t have to answer to anyone. The SEC bias is real and I don’t know why anyone would consider the committee immune to it.
Trying to think of whether I can remember another potential threepeat scenario that was milked dry for ratings ahead of a national championship game… -
Again, whether it had nothing to do with Texas, it was subhuman intelligence to do that the day before playing Texas in it's last Big XII title appearance.
Also, the reactions along the lines of “Why would anyone think this has anything to do with Texas?! It obviously doesn’t.” are not exactly shining displays of intellectual prowess.- 1

Not nearly as many as there will be once it opens. I wouldn’t bitch about the dearth of options available until the portal is actually open, but I’m not another lawyer.
-
What "great fucking receivers" are in the portal? Only ones with decent numbers I've heard about announcing recently are Kris Mitchell and Deion Burks. USC and Notre Dame are each losing one to the portal, but they haven't shown anything. But my point wasn't that we wouldn't get any, it was that Ewers would be starting over with an entirely new pass-catching group.
The portal hasn’t even officially opened yet genius. Only grad transfers thus far.- 1

No they won’t. Idk how many times it needs to be repeated. They’ve never left out a 1 loss P5 champ for a non-champ.
I’ve said it before- I think people here want Texas left out just so they can say they were right
How many of those previous scenarios involved a 2-time defending national champion from God’s gift to football conferences?- 1

We would never start Arch over our defending national champion QB Ewers. He will have to wait his turn.
National champion QB Ewers is not at Texas in 2024 -
Texas 48
OSU 20
323 yards -
I understand the rationale from Texas fans saying that we could/should go over a 1-loss Bama SEC champ, but you’d have to completely disregard the SEC bias of the last 10-15 years and there’s just no chance the committee does that.
There would be a lot of commentary on Texas getting a raw deal, but it wouldn’t change anything. There is no chance the SEC champ misses the playoffs this year. There’s a better chance that Georgia goes instead of Texas even if Georgia loses than Texas going over Bama if Bama wins. The SEC bias is the strongest influence in CFB.- 1

Can we rename this The Derka Ewers thread and start another one?

Get the fuck out of here. You are the king of self-victimization and you have subjected countless people to displays of you flailing around in hysterics across multiple boards over more than a decade. Don’t get all fucking self-righteous now.

You are so winning this thread dude. Keep up the fantastic work and go take a look in the mirror and tell yourself “you got this bro, the world needs you to plant this flag”. We’re all better off for your contributions here.
He’s not the best QB we’ve ever had and he certainly could’ve had a better season. He’s also made some great plays and had some gutty performances on the way to an 11-1 season and is going to get drafted and have a chance to play in the NFL whether it’s after this season or next.
Maybe just relax and let people hype up their qb if they want. Or be a threadshitter admonishing everyone and acting like you’re a superior fan for pointing out and harping on our players’ flaws while we’re having our best season in 14 years, whatever. I guess you must get something out of it to keep doing it.- 2

He’s gutting it out hurt and making some very very good throws and missing some guys. He missed half his junior year, skipped his senior year and got hurt two times in his two years starting. He’s started something like 30 games since his sophomore year of high school.
he’s gonna be fucking awesome if he comes back next year. He’s currently a very good quarter back that will likely be a Heisman finalist next year.
Some of yall need to eat less paint chips.

Are there any QB transfers you think we should take too? Maybe OL?
