He’s the guy that dropped the easy pick that would’ve ended the Kansas game, right?

The fact that Schooler saw the field is an indictment on the state of the entire program.  Hard to judge the talent level of many players when so may similar "players" were in the mix.  Call me overly optimistic but I'm thinking a few selective upgrades will have dramatic results.

We avoided the shitshow because Urban turned us down, not because someone pulled their head out of their ass and decided to pass on Urban. The idiot UT Regent and boosters thankfully lacked the ability to force Urban to accede to their demands.

I'm not sure how you missed that.

Avoided what shitshow?  I'm no CUM fan but I think it's intellectually lazy to assume the outcomes in Jacksonville would have had similar occurences here.

Whats interesting about the contrast about whats happening at Texas and A&M is very striking to me.

Texas went quite, was behind on NIL, and boosters / surly got their shit together and figured out the legal way to do things and announced publicly what and how they were doing things.

A&M quietly nabbed the top class out of nowhere. Implication to me is they ramped up their bagman efforts, hoping to clean it up with some official NIL later but who knows wtf they did here. This grey area is where the risk area is IMO.

Big question though is whether or not the NCAA wants any involvement here again.

NCAA isn't going to do jack shit.  They'll end up trying to go against state laws and their track record in court is horrific.

  4. College coaches failing in the NFL is not a new phenomena.  Indeed, it's almost a right of passage.  Plus, no one is going to give a shit that there is some weak ass story that a hack kicker got a 5/10 love tap.   One could argue that the UT pursuit in 2020 actually disinfected UM after the OSU stuff.  If he wants to return to the college ranks, there will be a line outside his door.

  5. If Hance and the powers that be at Tech wanted to part ways with Leach because of his attitude and demeanor then by all means inform him that you do not intend to renew the contract and fulfill the remaining obligations.  That's how a professional organization would conduct itself.  Hance led Tech was not a professional organization.  He/they tried to get cute and it blew up in their faces.  So, fuck Tech.

If Sark fails here that’s us taking a gamble on Sark and losing. If we had fired Herman and replaced him with Urban and URBAN failed here, the perception becomes that this program is so broken nobody could ever possibly succeed here. That’s true even if Urban comes in and hires a bunch of has-beens and spare parts from his rolodex as assistants and treats the whole thing like a victory lap and does everything possible to alienate everyone on and off the team. Better for him to do that at Jacksonville than here. Now at least if he takes another college job he’ll have some desire to prove himself again. And if it is here, at least if he fails the story won’t be about how we took this all-time great coach that would win anywhere else and broke him.

    Damn...that's some world class rationalization!

When has a completely sociopathic, anti social, asshole coach ever worked out at UT? Two best coaches in school history maintained good guy outward appearances and handled the external distractions well. Urban is the opposite of that, at Florida and OSU he was never questioned and never challenged, which we know would never have been the case here. He would have failed miserably here and he knew it so he didn't take the job.

Uh...he was suspended at OSU which led to his resignation.

I figure the next step will be for some university to just outright buy another schools entire program.

Nah...  The next step is farm systems.  UTSA and UTEP are told who to go after and if they pan out they're elevated to the show.

that looked hastily assembled and everybody on stage had an awkward look on their face.

Having said that, I really dig the USC Song Girls

Average talent with pancake makeup.  Year in and out, give me ASU or even TCU.  Much fresher...

So frustrating to watch schools that are serious about football lock down big names, while we dumpster dive for the likes of coach potato, shithead, and shitface.

Maybe if our BOR/BMDs we’re semi-competent and acted like adults, we could’ve kept the Urban attempt under wraps. Herman would’ve stuck around and we would’ve taken a 7-6 type season up the ass, but we would’ve been able to take a serious swing again this year.

    Coordinator hires is so 2020.

Part of the letter this is what is known in the literary world as "fellating:"

Right now, we need to focus on moving forward, staying behind our team and cheering like heck to get a win at West Virginia. We then can welcome our Horns home for Senior Day on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 11 a.m. CT versus K-State. I know we're all really disappointed, and there's a lot being said, but this is not a time to splinter or pull apart in any way. We need to stay positive and remain united as a Longhorn Family. We know there are better days ahead, and I know y'all will continue to be the wind beneath our wings to help lead us there. That was obvious with how you turned out and turned up the volume on Saturday as our team fought and came back at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. I would be remiss if I didn't give y'all a huge thank you for the incredible support on gameday. From Bevo Blvd, Smokey's Midway, Longhorn City Limits and all the pregame festivities until the final whistle, you came out in full force, and brought your patented passion, pride and Texas Fight. You hung in there and gave us all you had until the bitter end, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you.

    "wind beneath our wings..."

Someone told me about this and I thought they were joking.  Are you kidding me?  MF should be fired for this alone.
