  1. Given we’ve lost 8 of our last 11, you’d think some of you wouldn’t be so shocked at this result. Here’s where we’re at personnel wise:

Card is a our qb (horrid last year, looking improved but still can’t open the field vertically)

WR: without worthy, this group is bad. Whittington is good but can’t do it alone. Neyor Injury is huge.

    Rb: obviously elite

    TE: Solid group

Oline: Super young and inexperienced, first road game.

    Edge: Laughable

Interior D line: still waiting on guys to “figure it out” in year 5

LB: pretty much the same group as last year

    DB: mild personnel improvements?

Realistically, why should I expect us to be better than last year? If you look at Card’s 3 road starts last year, yesterday was actually significant improvement.

I’m not saying a lot of y’all don’t have valid points, but grow some thicker skin. The two players who should’ve helped us improve most are out (Quinn and Neyor). Hudson played a good game, but it’s obvious teams (and sark) don’t respect his deep ball, causing the same 2nd half offensive issues as last year.

Sorry you bought the bama fools gold. My expectation/hope for this year was 7 or 8 regular season wins. Take a step back from the ledge and let the season play out.

  2. Even though Beard likes his guys to be able to switch, he probably wants to add a defensive big that can handle the Edey’s and Williams of the world. A respected basketball poster on 247 was advocating for a transfer big from UT Arlington. He’s not great offensively, but he can guard bigs and block shots

I think it’s clear there were leadership questions. You don’t have to be the de facto leader at QB, but you damn sure gotta work hard, watch film, fix your own mistakes and get better as the season goes. And you kinda gotta hold guys accountable to that as well. I know Casey had a bum hand, but there were opportunities to take on that role and it seems he never did.

in regards to the amount of TDs he had… just imagine a guy that works tirelessly and how many TDs he will have. The future is bright with a better QB, no doubt

Very fair point. One can only wonder if he would’ve assumed that role had he been announced the starter in August. Hopefully Sark learned the value of team leadership

It's pretty telling that he doesn't even think he can get better, so what does he do? Bolts. He's mentally weak and doesn't want to have to work for the job. Later, dude. Thanks for Colorado, I guess?

    That’s your take?

It was clear that healthy Casey > Card. But the inexperienced, highly rated, fan favorite freshman got the start.

Now we have Ewers. Can’t blame Casey for not wanting to ride that carousel again.

I wonder if Devon will actually announce. I figured we were in good shape when he canceled on UGA right after Sark’s in home, but he’s always said he’s announcing at the all star game. Could easily see him sign but stay quiet until then.

I think Fong got wind that Devon is signing with Texas on Wednesday. I’m guessing he’ll still wait to formally announce at the UA game

That’s a good point, and almost everyone on this board wants Neto, because like back then, we aren’t in a position to be picky.

This. We would’ve thrown a riot had Tyler Johnson gone to any other school, especially if we chose to pass on him.

Tyler Johnson likes making films (or some weird shit like that) and actually cares about school. That hasn’t been a reason for us not to pursue in the past (Hayden Connor, our OL losses to Stanford).

Frankly, I question the football focus of any lineman not looking to go to the SEC (especially guys who consider USC and us). Does that mean we shouldn’t pursue guys like Cambell and Neto? God no. We can’t sit here and act like we’re in a position to turn down top 100 OL recruits.

Has Tyler Johnson been a wasted scholarship? Yes. Should we have offered him? Yes. 6’6” 300 Lb athletic tackles don’t grow on trees. Maybe if the last coach hadn’t fed him runny eggs, he would’ve cared more about football.

I don't see a scenario where we get blown out this week unless the offense just implodes on itself and Casey chokes. Sark is going to cook up some shit this week in the gameplan, this will be the week that we break just about every tendency and lean on scheme. Even in a loss, I would expect it to be a close game.

Friendly reminder that projected first round draft pick Nik Bonito (FCB) will be going up against Christian Jones. And OU’s strength is their run D.

I don’t think we get blown out, but we are only 3 weeks removed from the Ark debacle. Hopefully we put on a great showing for these recruits.

    Fuck OU

OU gave full rides if you got a decent PSAT score when I was in high school.

That is in fact the case. But very few kids make that cut. It essentially requires an equivalent sat score of 1550 (out of 1600) or act of 34. For reference, you can get 90% of out of state tuition waived at UArk with a 26 ACT I think.

  9. No school has benefited more from UT’s admissions standards than Arkansas. I graduated HS in Austin in 2017, and I have more friends at Ark than any other big 12 school. Ark gives in state tuition to Texas kids with qualifying SAT/ACT scores. I know people at Ark who pay only 8k in tuition for a whole academic year.

for kids that don’t make the cut at UT and A&M (and some prefer ark over A&M), ark is a much better option and TTu or Texas state. The growing number of Texas kids at Ark should make for a great rivalry once we switch over (and a crazy atmosphere on September 11)

What the fuck do you think Jimbo is telling these guys?  That they were actually the #5 team?

There is no reason we should be losing top talent to fucking college station.  New coaching staff full of Bama's top assistants, moving to SEC in a year, flagship school, start immediately, AUSTIN, TX...

We are losing the bidding war.  The great equalizer is cash.  We are offering cameo opportunities while our competition is dropping thousands of dollars at these kids doorsteps.

    Pathetic.

This is a good point. Whether or not we’ve “figured out” NIL is irrelevant because recruits aren’t getting NIL money, they’re getting bags. It feel likes our staff thought NIL could replace the bag game, but that isn’t the case. It’s not like Oregon wasn’t recruiting well pre-NIL. See the Kavon Thinedauex recruitment. Mario Cristobol has been playing the bag game since he was at Bama and he brought it to Oregon.

still, winning games and putting players in the draft could fix most of our problems.

  11. For a whole decade, we’ve been underperforming, losing to worse teams, and the 5 stars we sign don’t get drafted highly. We get so invested in these recruitments that we become blind to the fact that it’s pretty easy to recruit against us.

Fix the problems above and recruiting will sort itself out. Don’t expect a new coach bump when the last two coaches have flamed out.
