  1. Pattern and tail look like a hognose. But seems large. I’m about to pass through dripping right now. Struck out again on rattlers this morning. Not even a damn Ratsnake or coachwhip.

    Big Mama Hognose

The wife is a city slicker that wanted a horse and she cannot abide a snake. They killed a rat snake on their patio that was going for the egg-filled bird’s nest a few weeks ago. I told her to be ready for the toad and rat invasion that’s coming now that they’ve dispatched those two snakes.
  2. AISD should just lower their tax rate to just hit the ceiling before recapture starts. Fuck those poor schools and let the legislature pick up the pieces.

It doesn’t work that way. The state wants to cut funding for education and the way it does that is to take more and more money from property wealthy districts from the taxpayers in those districts. For the state to equitably fund school districts, it would have to increase other taxes, which is a no go.

  3. If you are advocating for a SK style tracing program, you are basically advocating for the CDC under the Trump administration to have access to all of your GPS localizing data, credit card and other financial records, police records, CCTV feeds from every major city, in essentially real time. Can you imagine the reaction if Trump would have proposed something like that in January?

Can you imagine how insane the reaction would be to the lockdown if Hillary had won?
  4. My twins were capped. First is going to accept it and try to get into UTSA. Apparently you have to sign up for the slots online like trying to get concert tickets. He thinks he wants to be a doctor and was accepted to Aggy in the vet/health sciences program. He’s still going to Texas (eventually).

The other wants graphics design and was top 7% with a 33 ACT. He was capped as well and has decided to get a communication design degree from Texas State along with a 9k/year scholarship. That, along with the Texas Tomorrow fund, makes it almost a feee ride. Well at least one I won’t have to hammer big checks for.

    All good here.

  5. A&M is one of my twins’ safety school. He is top-12% at Bowie HS in Austin and top 10% on his SAT. He is accepted into their vet medicine/biomedical science college.

He will CAP into UT Austin at any college he his offered. I think UT-D took longer to accept him than Aggy.

Please, Jeebus, let him into UT!

  6. My sons will be riding an IMBA Epic tomorrow when the varsity HS team rides the Goodwater loop around Lake Georgetown. I will be spinning around the SATN, as 26 miles is a bit longer than I’ve ever done on a MTB. They’ve been cat’d up to varsity for their senior year in NICA which is cool. If anyone here has a 6-12th grader, I cannot recommend the NICA league enough.

  7. cumstain ftw.
that is awesome.  What was the name of the attorney in Austin that would argue in Foghorn Leghorn voice and plantation owner suit?

That would be Adam King Blackwell Reposa. He had his name changed to add King Blackwell because the Bar had issues with him using the DWI King on his website. He’s also been to jail at least once for contempt related to pantomiming masturbation to show his own contempt for the State’s argument at a bench conference.

  8. What’s your pleasure, Knox? SATN (South Austin Trail Network) is smooth, with little tech and there is plenty of it. Besides the climbing (and it’s a lot) Colorado has nothin on the beating that central Texas trails can deliver. A varsity rider from our team who crushed the central Texas trails for years packed it in after a semester in Colorado. If you are used to smooth flow-trails in Tennessee, these can be a challenge.

I’m fat (and almost 50) and like to ride at maybe 9mph. WD40 seems to like a faster ride and is way more talented than me. City Park is a beating and Hill of Life is as well. The Greenbelt has ton of climbing and rock gardens. SATN is silky with some varied terrain but mostly creek bottoms and the trails surrounding them.

    When are you coming?

  9. I hadn't priced hitch racks.  Geezus.

No kidding. We use a four bike Yakima tray that I got used for $100. A heavy bitch but does the job. When my kids graduate this year I’ll probably kick it down to another team family and then get a Kuat or the 1up if I have a particularly good distribution next summer.

  11. 1Up USA is an all aluminum tank and widely considered the best hauler around. A 2 tray system is right at or over $700. Very slick (and heavy).

Kuat is as highly rated. The NV is the flagship and has some interesting features like it doubling as a repair stand. It is also around $700. The Sherpa is $500 and my kids have a Transfer which is perfect for two bikes and was around $250-$300.

Go to etrailer.com and you can see a lot of racks. The 1up is only sold directly from the manufacturer.
