  1. As a Vikings fan who gets up at 4AM, my tried & tried formula for prime time viewing worked like a charm:

If they're sucking shit through a straw at half, turn it off and get some sleep. If they make a miracle comeback to win you start the day w/ a pleasant surprise & can watch the highlights later.

If they're tied or even leading at half, turn it off & get some sleep. That way you don't waste the next few hours anxiously watching them blow it & compound the pain with a lack of sleep & being a grumpy asshole the next day.

Next opportunity to use this is Sunday night vs ATL.

  2. Ben Johnson is a big loss. A lot of people think he's the next McVay/Shanahan.
Johnson bailed Campbell's ass out numerous times when he went full meathead. But if Detroit can't move the ball with the skill players they've got things will turn toxic quick, fast & in a hurry.
  3. He doesn't seem to have the desire or aptitude to compete in this new era. OK State has made him a very wealthy man. He should exit stage left & look for a job as a color commentator or studio host. Hell, with some polishing he could make his way up to the Gameday set in 5 years.

  4. They've got nothing to offer to recruits other than to be developed & snatched up by a school with means in 1-2 years. But why go & get your shit kicked in on national TV (occasionally) & risk your health in the process? They're not competitive now, and if they finish in the bottom half of the conference again they'll be irrelevant.

  5. The only chance okie State has in this game is if the Ducks start taking bong hits in the huddle & smoking joints on the sidelines. Pokes aren't even close to being able to compete physically.

  6. If BCBS can't update their coding profile for the new C-19 vax within the next week I'm just going to pay for it out of pocket and seek reimbursement later if needed. When I attempted to get it last week (along w/ flu and TDAP) the tech at CVS did all she could to get approval from my insurer but no dice. I asked then what it would cost me if I just paid for it myself and she estimated "around $200." I've heard of at least six coworkers at satellite offices here in the city having contracted it in the last few weeks. And my sister (also in Austin; works in healthcare) had her 3rd bout with it 6 weeks ago.

This insanity is going to continue. If I've gotta drop a couple hundred bucks then so be it. I also realize there are millions of at risk people in this country for whom that's not an option.

Neither here nor there but I’m reading In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson. Re: early Nazi leadership, “With few exceptions, the men who are running this government are of a mentality that you and I cannot understand. Some of them are psychotic cases and would ordinarily be receiving treatment somewhere.”

    sound familiar

Just ordered this book. I've always been impressed w/ Larson's writing and the depths of his research.

    Thanks, Obama.

I'm one of the 244 Americans not on any prescription meds.  I miss out again, damnit.

So you, me, and a handful of other assholes, huh? My wife (3 meds) and cat (one) are doing their best to average out our household.
