  1. Was in Guadalajara a couple of weeks ago and visited the Cascahuin distillery. You can find the plata 48 repisado pretty easily, but the extra anejo is hard to find.

Worth the purchase at the distillery

Chambers, 32, who lives in the Montrose area, entered the 339th District Court on Wednesday still visibly injured from the crash, in a wheelchair with her arm in a sling. She is charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with McMullin's death.

Her defense attorney, Mark Thiessen, said Chambers broke her leg and clavicle in the collision. He told the court she was not guilty and cited poor road conditions on Houston streets as the reason Chambers lost control of her vehicle.

The charges, he suggested, may best be resolved in civil court.

“We're going to get all the evidence and the discovery and properly look at whether this was a crime or should just be a civil lawsuit,” Thiessen said.

Assistant District Attorney Kelly Marshall maintained that Chambers’ actions April 20 were criminal, as she outlined details of the fatal wreck in court.

After striking McMullin, the car slammed into a pole, according to witnesses. A good Samaritan then rushed out from a nearby business in the 1200 block of Westheimer Road to help Chambers from the wrecked sports car. Chambers asked the person to contact her family members, the prosecutor said.

A blood draw at a hospital found that Chambers' blood had nearly four times the legal limit of alcohol, according to court records.

“There was a lot of alcohol in her system,” Marshall said, adding that traces of suspected drugs — possibly Adderall and cocaine — were also found in her purse.

Chambers told police that she drank a beer at 9:30 p.m. April 19 but nothing else after that, Marshall said. The crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. the following day.

One of the two passengers in the Porsche told authorities that Chambers did not drink at the bar. Investigators are looking into whether Chambers may have been served alcohol at a bar, and if she was — whether she was over-served, Marshall continued.

Judge Te’iva Bell ordered that Chambers be held on a $50,000 bond and prohibited her from driving unless she gets a job. Chambers is required to install a landline at her home to show that she is abiding by those conditions.

Poor road conditions driving 100 MPH. I walk this route many times late at night and there are some crazy ass drivers out there.

  3. Grant must have broiled Patricio Swayze's brisket or pissed in his beer. I have never seen someone so adamant about not going to a reputable BBQ place. I think he would rather eat at Goode BBQ than Pinkerton’s.

  4. I have visited 26 countries and I have been in some sketchy areas, but never felt I was in any danger. I can think of three times when I did something stupid.

Mexico City: Walking around drunk at 4am. Police stop me and ask where I'm going. I tell them I'm lost - trying to find my AirBnb. They say the had complaints about someone roaming the neighborhood. They ask if I have drugs, and I say no. They empty my pockets and go through my wallet which had about 1100 pesos. They then say there will be a 1000 peso fine for not wearing a face mask (this was April last year at 4am with no one on the street). I talked them down to 700 pesos.

This was all through Google translate. This was also after hooking up with a local so it was worth it.

Medellin: The cable cars quit running because of lightning in the area. I knew better, but it was in the middle of the day so I start walking and wound up in the barrio. Got a lot of looks but never threatened. Still dumb and not a safe area.

Barcelona: Not me, but my friend got his Rolex (dumb idea to wear while traveling) pickpocketed while taking a piss in an alley. He didn't even know it was stolen until he told me he was talking with a couple of guys while taking a piss.

Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore are booked for May. Thailand and Malaysia will be solo. I'll be solo in Thailand and Malaysia and don't plan on spending any time in the red-light districts.

I still can't believe he wanted to draft the child sex offender pitcher.

There was a half chapter dedicated to the Osuna fiasco as well. Luhnow was the only person int the organization that wanted the Osuna trade. He made that trade himself disregarding what others voted (again Crane had no clue). That was the moment Mike Fast decided to leave the Astros. He was planning on leaving anyway, but that was the last straw.

It was also an internal HR disaster.

Well John and Lance went full on clickity clackity this morning on 97.5 and hosted Drellich. Reasons why this shouldn't have happened :

    1) Drellich was trying to promote his bullshit book in Houston.

    2) John and Lance will never be confused for journalists, so of course they asked him a bunch of amateur hour questions without follow ups. Drellich worked them like Woodward and Bernstein on the third hour of GMA.

    3) Drellich is a professional troll much like Bohls, Golden, and Mike Finger. The cutesy, tongue in criticisms of the team got him run out of Houston and Boston.

John's criticism after the interview was nothing Drellich wrote about was in Astroball. Thanks John. Don't quit your day job of golf and Coors Light.

Drellich's point is that Luhnow/Crane created a toxic work culture that Crane has continued. And that this culture is so poor that it's not worth selling your soul to win the World Series Titles.

Uh, WTF? Not a single person living in Houston believes that.

I think what Drellich fails to recognize is that teams with toxic cultures don't win. The Astros win.

Winning Fixes Everything is actually a pretty good book.  It's not just about the Astros cheating; he also gets into the Yankee, RedSox, and Dodgers cheating as well. It's been known around the league that the Astros had a toxic front office, screwed over players with bad contracts, and Luhnow being an unlikable guy.

I doubt Springer was very interested in resigning with the Astros after the way Luhnow treated him.

It's also a good book on how to not run a business if you want to keep people around and have a good reputation.

He walks way too many batters to be an effective closer. His bb/9 is 3.7 over his career and 4.2 the last 2 years.

And Presley doesn't? The king of leadoff walks and hits. I haven't looked up the stats but it seems like he always walked a batter and gave up a hit or two (excluding 2022 playoffs). Defense saved him game 5 World Series.

Different mentality when you are a closer. I think he would throw stikes.

  8. Just typical relationship bickering, and she wasn't someone that would let the small things go without reminding you about it over and over - all day. This was our first trip together that was longer than an extended weekend.

I didn't realize it at the time, but everyone should go on at least a week long trip alone with your partner before deciding to get in a long term relationship. You learn a lot about each other.

  9. Just go to Laredo Taqueria on Washington Ave and then Truth BBQ - they are close by each other. Hit up a couple of Heights bars on the way home.

The suggestions from Doobie also works for BBQ.
