Baseball concludes season at NCAA Regional

Baseball had a tough ending to the season, as the team was eliminated from the NCAA College Station Regional. This snapped a streak of three-straight NCAA Super Regional appearances. Our guys got things started in College Station with a 12-5 victory over Louisiana in game one, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Jalin Flores. The following night, we took a 2-1 lead after a solo homer from Kimble Schuessler in the sixth but couldn't hold on down the stretch and fell 4-2 to the No. 3 national seed and regional host Aggies in 11 innings. The season came to a close Sunday afternoon with a loss to Louisiana in an elimination game. The 2024 team bashed the second-most home runs in program history with 112. Max Belyeu was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and shared the team lead with 18 homers, while Flores also hit 18 homers and led the squad with 56 RBI. We're always disappointed to see the season end, but we're extremely proud of the consistent Texas Fight our team showed all year.

I don't really know what "30% faster than Madden gameplay" means

I don’t think it has anything to do with the speed difference in the actual NFL vs college, and more so that the players in Madden 24 just feel so damn slow/unathletic.

  3. The insufferable Tech fans on the Trilly Discord seemed to be conceding Toppin over the weekend, but it’s a fickle bunch. I guess their “insiders” are claiming he visited UT last week, but not sure if that’s been reported elsewhere at all.

    Spoiler

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star quarterback Dia Bell has already established himself as one of the top rising juniors in the country. Bell, who visited around 10 schools this spring, may be coming off the board sooner than later.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal-caller is considering a commitment this summer, including at the end of June or the beginning of July. His finalists are already beginning to take shape.

“I feel like there are a couple schools that are already pretty strong,” Bell told On3. “I feel like there are a couple of schools that have solidified themselves pretty well. Then, there are some schools that I have to keep building the relationship with and see where that takes me with them.”

Ahead of revealing his college destination, Bell believes that he will release a list of his top schools. The No. 1 player in Florida is excited to continue connecting with multiple programs, and already knows what matters to him in a school.

“The history and putting guys into the league in the past gives a school a head start on a lot of the programs that haven’t sent guys to the NFL,” said Bell, the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. “The culture around the program, the offense and the fit for me matter too. Those are probably the three big things.”

One of the schools to host Bell this spring was Texas. The No. 2 quarterback in the 2026 On300 left Austin on April 19 with an offer from the Longhorns.

Bell is returning to Texas on June 1 for another unofficial visit. He is looking forward to being back on The Forty Acres.

“I had never been to one of their practices, so it was good to learn how coach A.J. Milwee and coach Steve Sarkisian like to coach their quarterbacks,” Bell said. “… I feel like that camp is going to help because I’m going to be able to see firsthand how coach Milwee likes to coach because he’ll be coaching me during it. I feel like that will be a good thing for me.”

Texas is not the only top program that is working hard to land Bell. Some of the other schools heavily pursuing the four-star include LSU, Miami, Ohio State and Penn State.

There is still a long time remaining in Bell’s recruitment. Yet he is looking forward to finding his college football home in the coming weeks.

“I feel like there’s a group of schools that I have better relationships with because I’ve known them for much longer periods of time,” Bell said. “I make sure to stay in contact with those schools. The longer I’ve known them, probably the better my relationship with them has been. That has helped shape what my decision is going to look like.”

    Spoiler

Nebraska volleyball player Harper Murray has been accused of shoplifting from Scheels, according to a Facebook post and corresponding Lincoln Police Department incident report.

Murray is accused of stealing $70 worth of rings from Scheels. The LPD incident report does not list Murray by name at this time. However, a widely shared Facebook post described the incident with apparent photos of Murray from the security camera footage.

“We are aware of the incident report from Thursday night and are gathering more information,” a statement from Nebraska Athletics read. “We had previously made the determination that Harper would be suspended for Saturday’s spring match. Any further discipline will be handled internally. We will have no further comment at this time.”

A screenshot of a Facebook post obtained by the Journal Star accuses Harper Murray of shoplifting at Scheels.

The Facebook post, with accompanying photos, accused Murray of the following, “I hesitated sharing this, but figured if she is stealing from us, she is also stealing from other retailers. This is Harper Murray, yes the NE volleyball star. She shoplifted $70 worth of rings from Lincoln Scheels last night, then purchased $350 worth of merchandise. She concealed right under our cameras in her pants pockets, after ripping the tags off. When she got in her car, you can see her putting the rings on.”

The post also listed the LPD incident report number. The report number included corresponds with a report that details five stolen rings, each worth $12.99, from Scheels
