  1. How do you all store your concert tickets? I presume everyone keeps them as souvenirs (probably wrong) but do you have a scrapbook or photo album or something similar?
I have historically kept mine in the cd cases for the most recent album that was released at the time of the show (or the most recent one I owned). That only works as long as you continue to buy physical media, and if you have purchased something by each band you see.

  2. I had never heard that El Paso story. Pretty funny that the story took weeks to get out. Can't imagine the uproar something like that would cause today.

  3. No love for Gary Cherone? Or Eddie's vocals on "How Many Say I" from VHIII?
    (ducks)

Seriously, I think I personally prefer the Sammy-era but I have nothing negative to say about the DLR-era. They were definitely a force and Eddie an other-worldly talent but their slicker/poppier/more produced stuff just resonates better with me.

  4. Uhhh Masters? A tradition unlike any other
Too short notice. If I'm going to let some "doctor" do that to me, he better damn well be good enough to be booked more than a couple of days in advance.
  5. I'm contemplating that decision myself. No real fear, just lack of motivation. I think it would be good for peace of mind but I just haven't done it yet.
Plus now I've missed March madness...what's the next big sports weekend?

Agreed. I saw them in Vegas and they were excellent.

I saw them there as well...I told this story in the "Brush With Greatness" thread but I chatted with Vinnie Paul (Pantera/Hellyeah) after a SP show and we sang "Never Say Goodbye" by Bon Jovi as it played over the PA. He's a funny dude.

Try changing up the routine. Get her up, dressed and ready before anything else.

If that’s a no go, try giving a time count down - 3 minutes till you have to get dressed. 1
Minute to get dressed... the shifting of gears might be throwing her off.

Good ideas. Wife and I discussed after the fact and came up with your first suggestion ourselves...her older brother has to get dressed to go to K, so I proposed getting her up and dressed at the same time so everyone is doing it together. We talk about all being on the same team so this will hopefully hit those same notes and work. Hopefully.

I want my girls to be confident and strong.

Me too. Just not when we're trying to get out the door or standing in the aisle at the grocery store.

  9. Anyone have any ideas on the best way to handle a 3yo girl that absolutely won't cooperate when it's time to leave the house? Won't get dressed, no socks/shoes, screaming, etc. We try to let the kids make their own choices so they have some control over what to wear, what they want for breakfast, etc but when the time comes that we *have* to go and patience is exhausted what is the best course of action? I'm not big on bribes because I don't want to reward bad behavior. My instinct is to just pick her up and carry her out screaming but I also don't want to teach her that it's ok for someone bigger/stronger than you to force you to do something that you don't want to.

  10. Echo all of this. My parents passed away years ago and hers are in Georgetown (we're in S Austin) so they're too far away to help with the kids regularly. Our two are closer in age (almost 6 and almost 4) but everything else you said is spot on.

  11. Same thing with state of residence as a Texan. And sometimes you can type a letter in the box and it takes you to Tennessee, but still won't scroll down to Texas, so you still have to click the bar and scroll it down another notch.

Good programmers will allow you to hit the letter "T" once to go to Tennessee and a second time to go to Texas. If one keystroke jumps you to TN, a repeat should get you where you need to go.

  12. He also said Cherry Pie was his biggest regret.

I never got this...people who claim to hate being stereotyped or pigeonholed because they had a hit single. "But our band was so much more than the one song..."blah blah blah bullshit. Take the fame and riches from your one hit and be happy. One hit is more than 99.999+ % of aspiring musicians ever get.
And Warrant certainly had more than just one hit. So what if it was a campy, cheesy song that broke them? That dude got laid more because of that one song got than he ever did for anything else in his life.
  13. RIP is epic and that one two punch of tracks one and two may be better than any two back to back Metallica songs. And Megadeth has continued to put out great music long after Metallica started to suck. But I don’t think I can get on board with that hot take.

Battery and MoP is tough to beat but I can also recognize how great the first two tracks of RIP are. I can't argue that Megadeth has continued to put out quality stuff (particularly The System Has Failed and United Abominations) but they also made some clunkers.
'tallica vs. 'deth is a tough question. Megadeth has been more prolific for sure and when you consider things like Lulu and St. Anger it is easy to shrug Metallica off. But nothing can erase the impressions Puppets and Justice made on my adolescence.

  14. Does Steel Panther talk belong here? I find that band very enjoyable to listen to. Lyrics are absolutely filthy and they have some great chops. Lots of riffs that echo stuff you recognize from the heyday of hair metal.

  15. I used to wake up early on Wednesday mornings before school so I could watch Fraggle Rock. Loved that show as a kid.
Also have an older kinda hippie sister (no pics) that reminded me of Mokey.

  16. Have had a few brushes with celebrity but the most interesting was riding the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland with Axl Rose.
Met Earl Campbell and Mike Judge where I used to work.
Saw Magic Johnson, Andy Samberg, and a couple of other celebs in a vip area at a Prince show in LA.
Ran into Slash at Expose. Girls said he was a bad tipper.
Ran into Jonathan Davis from Korn at All Stars in SA. He was only drinking sprite.
Met Vinnie Paul at a bar in Vegas. We sang a couple of lines of Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi while it was playing over the PA.
Saw Snoop Dogg walking through LAX carrying a boom box.
Few others but that's enough now.

  17. The best show I've ever seen was Mike Keneally at a small club in Charleson, WV in 2001.  It was religious.

Holy shit I was at this show! The Empty Glass, right? A friend and I road-tripped with the band on this tour from Lexington, KY, to Kent, OH, then Charleston. I absolutely loved that lineup and have some great pictures from those shows.

  18. Metallica, Guns n Roses, Faith No More - Astrodome, 9/4/1992.

I was at this show. Had tickets in the pit and Faith No More was absolutely crazy. We caught our breath after their set only to be destroyed again by Metallica. I had seen them once before (at the ERC) and was a much bigger fan of theirs than I was of GnR. We knew Axl was doing his prima donna bullshit where he was delaying their start time, etc, and we had a long drive home after the show so we decided that Guns wasn't going to be as good as Metallica and we left. To date I've never seen GnR live. I've never been a huge fan but while I loved FNM and Metallica I do regret leaving that show before their set.
