I’ll have to check and see if my idiot brother was in Boston this week. It sure sounds like him, but I suppose that also sounds like most first generation aggy. If he was drunk and kept repeating himself though… high likelihood it was my idiot brother.

    where was you brother?

A buddy, the Johnson County Farm Bureau agency manager, was behind them a ways, and saw the whole thing. The crash threw everyone in the minivan through the front windshield.

The family of the kid driving the truck has had the worst five or so years of any family I have known. The dad was always in trouble with the law, and hung himself in the Somervell county jail. The older son, one of CHIEF Jr.'s associates, was so struck with grief that he committed suicide as well. Now the younger son has gone and done this. He is still in critical condition and not out of the weeds yet.

The bridge in Corpus has always freaked me out. I used to like going over it as a kid but somewhere along the way, not so much.

I once walked across the bridge over the Royal Gorge as a teenager and that's freaky as hell for somebody with a fear of heights like me. I could see through the slats all the way down, IIRC. I off-handedly said to my dad that it would really suck to be a bird who was afraid of heights (there were a bunch of birds flying around up there). Anyway, my dad took that kernel of wisdom and has written a series of children's books about a bird who is afraid of heights. (Still waiting for the family to get rich off those -- oh well ...)

Kinda cool story about your dad.

Yeah, obviously first thought it with the lives lost. But beyond that, this seems like it is going to fuck up the Baltimore area pretty good, and for quite a while. I assume the port is completely closed until the debris can be cleared, which will take what, weeks? Rebuilding the bridge will take years. Looking at Google Maps, just across the bridge are a bunch of warehouses and distribution centers - Amazon, Fedex, Home Depot, looks like a big VW entry point. A lot of economically important traffic must flow over this bridge every single day.

Capt. Pablo down in Boquillas should move his operation NE.  Would do quite well in a short amount of time.
