  1. No starting All-Stars. Minus our best hitter for this season. No clue when we'll get our slugger back. Starting some guys not even Astros fans know. And yet...a 12-2 record against first-place teams and leading the West by a country mile. If that's not fun, what in July baseball is?

  2. I'd love to see us get a few of the guys we've missed on. Some fellow bluebloods with money, elite brands and solid coaches would love to have a few of our commits. We hold these truths to be self-evident.

I follow Texas sports for enjoyment, not self-abuse, so I'll just hope things improve on the recruiting trail in the near future and try not to fret too much if they don't. Unlike most programs, we already have an amazing roster to protect.

A HS coach told me that DJ Campbell had this mean streak when he was playing against his team. You could tell he wanted to punish people. He then said Ojo had none of that.

Take that with a grain of salt: Ojo plays on a 1-9 Lake Ridge team, so maybe it's tough to be a killer when you're getting killed.

Whoever referenced Sheppard with Ojo nailed it for me. I want him for signing day noise and if he really embraces the developmental experience and becomes a player down the line, awesome. Is that worth $1M to open? No, it is not.

Good luck with Tech if that is the path they select. The family does recognize there’s a gap in track records for line development between Tech and Texas. Do they realize the gap is Grand Canyon-sequel? Who knows.

I’m still rooting to land the guy, but for the thoughts I espoused and not because he’s some sort of can’t miss prospect.

Also, the guy lost every rep at the Rivals camp a few weeks ago. He’s expected to plummet in the rankings. He’s going to wind up as a mid-level 4 star. The hype he adds to Texas’ class in the end isn’t going to be massive. For Tech, everyone covering it will oversell it through signing day.

Shepherd absolutely comes to mind with Ojo. That doesn't mean the latter won't pan out, but if you're really not passionate about the game, the odds of NFL success will always be against you. So if he decides to strike while the financial iron is hot and go for max pay up front, it honestly might be his best move. Again, we'll see how it pans out, but I don't think we're talking about a kid who views a football career in the same way as a Banks or Turntine.

Got me curious. There have only been eleven 1-0 games in the 30 year existence of Coors Field.

I'm surprised there have been so many. I thought at Coors they spotted each team 3 runs upon exchanging lineup cards.

please don't get swept in Denver 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Astros beat the Cubs, 2-0, and achieved the following:

    - 3rd team in MLB to 50 wins
    - MLB-best 19-7 in June
    - 10-0 in Valdez's last 10 starts
    - 9th shutout of season
    - 5-1 on homestand against Phillies/Cubs
    - Take 7-game lead in AL West (pending SEA game)

I hate to ever pull for the Rangers, but it would have been nice of them to scratch out a win over Seattle in the 10th or 11th, when they had every chance. Not surprisingly, they were just too limp to do so. Seattle then got 3 T12 to win 6-4. Thanks for nothing, Arlington.

Amazing season so far. Pitching has been crazy good, and not just against the dregs of MLB. It's getting harder for the media to keep ignoring this team, but the national outlets are still working hard to do just that.

  7. Maybe Christian Clark proves to be forever limited by his Achilles, but let's assume he's healed and can fully display his talent. At this point he's become a 2025 recruit instead of a 2024. So if he, Simon and/or Stewart end up being solid contributors, we're younger at RB than some fans seem to think. Grab a portal guy if you decide you need one this winter, but I think we're sitting in pretty fair shape behind Baxter and Wisner.
