outside of Kansas, entire conference looks down a bit next year. as that right or just me?
As already said, KSU and ISU return everyone and by principal should be at least the same or better. I think tcu should also be one of the better teams
WVU will always get the guys they need to finish the regular season and get a seed 3-6 range even though they'll probably lose in the first or second round.
Ok st., ou, baylor all have work to do. I think people will be surprised at Tech's fall off considering Beard won't have all of these inherited players any longer.
Texas, despite losing all the talent they should, will probably be picked preseason 4 in the conference by the coaches, based off their name, and will probably finish 5th-7th place, just because of the Shaka factor. Hard to find another coach in the conference that does less with more. Just my honest opinion

I'll go with 7-5, bowl game pending. Today's big 12, while not on the level of basketball, doesn't really afford any guaranteed wins anymore other than kansas and probably baylor.
Also, like the option says, I refuse to think this team will win 8 or more out of 13 contests until they can finally show me they're capable of doing it without Mack Brown there.

I hope Pierce showed enough respect to UTRGV and its program to explain this to their coach before the game. Texas Baseball is not known for circus acts. Everyone knows that McKenzie is a very valuable player with unique, talented versatility.
Also gotta realize that teams like utrgv probably get paid a rather hefty sum of money to come get a can of whoop ass opened opened up on them. I don't think Pierce meant any disrespect, and being utrgv or mcneese st or whoever, you'd think they'd know that Texas is getting to run the show regardless in these tuesday games considering Texas is doing more a favor to them letting them play on tv and against higher-than-usual level of competition. That sounds arrogant, and it is, but I think it's just the truth of the matter.

Pierce must be pissed at Nico. Whelan on Wednesday?
Kam Fields getting the start. I think Pierce knows the teams we're playing this week are terrible, and is trying to get inexperienced guys more time on the diamond while still expecting a win.
If the team has their heads screwed on straight and doesn't play to the opponents' level, we should expect to see more results like last night against UTRGV

The only thing I miss from Shag after the way it went out is this:
Otherwise, fuck all that other noise. The community on this site is much better now

Would love to see us take down UTRGV, TSU, NO, and TSU. That is 6 wins and we should be able to win the UH matchup and the WVU series. 9 wins would be amazing right now.
Team sits at 24-14 with 17 games remaining. If Texas can find a way to finish the season with less than 20 losses, i.e. they'd need to finish 12-5 or better (36-19 overall or better), then they have a very realistic shot of hosting a regional. Especially if they can find a way to finish top 2 or 3 in the conference.
I'm pretty sure Texas was the 2nd or 3rd highest rpi at the end of last year's regular season that didn't host, and I think it cost them dearly. Had that regional been played in Austin and not Long Beach, I think the Horns win that regional and host CSFU in Austin for the supers. Ifs and buts are candy and nuts, I know.
Anything less than 5-0 this week would need some serious explaining. New Orleans is the highest rated rpi scheduled this week, and it currently sits north of 200... Maybe Ridgeway will mow some guys down and fix whatever problems that have lead to his complete inability to throw scoreless outings this season.

0-6 T8 runner on 1st 2 outs
Wiles is done after walking his first batter. He took down Texas pretty quietly today. Impressive performance

0-6 Sooners in the middle of the 6th
This pitcher of theirs has dished today

Holy shit! Just saw the final result after leaving Minute Maid (are you kidding me, drew Robinson?)

TexasSports.com lists Kingham - Shugart - Henley.
Sounds like Steele Walker and Kyler Murray are about to have the best weekend at the plate in their lives

I hope he doesn't leave. I'm looking forward to Breckyn and Omenihu taking his ass to the ground, and I'm sure the rest of the team is too

The only past I’ve brought up is last night when we used you guys for batting practice. Lmbo
A. Texas actually out-hit aggy on Tuesday. Lulz
B. This is pretty stereotypical aggy. So desperate for attention he needs to go to a Longhorn site. Again, lulz
Maybe, just maybe, you'll win a game in Omaha in your lifetime. Until then, keep trying to buy relevance in your football program

A&M baseball fans are 100X worse than the football fans because at least the football fans have some perspective.
The baseball fans legit think A&M is a powerhouse in baseball with 2 college world series wins in their entire history.
I've had several A&M fans try to tell me their baseball program and history is better than Texas. This wasn't a joke or sarcasm. They were dead serious. The crazy thing is they've had more success in football than baseball.
And what's also funny is that of how lopsided the three sports are, baseball by far is the most. Or at least, whenever in the past when it mattered, aggy was never able to get over the hump. Lost every series from 2004-2011, some of which decided the Big 12

Actually losing by 1 to a Texas program on the road in a mid week game after spotting them 4 isn’t that bad of a loss.
We should play them 3x a year on Tuesdays and rotate like we used to with Rice.
The game was highly entertaining and very competitive. It’s not like football, dropping one isn’t a big thing. But with only one game between us it seems huge.
i’d rather play the ags 3x on Tuesdays than McNeese State etc
I do agree with essentially all of this, but watching the game tonight reminded me how glad I am that they're someone else's problem now. Their fans somehow became even more obnoxious after they joined the new conference, and they are truly unbearable people to be around. And the entitlement of their baseball fans despite the fact that they haven't won a game in Omaha since I was less than 1 year old makes them almost worse than their football fans. Almost.
Actually, no fuck that. Their baseball fans are worse. They have by far the most cultish behavior

Alright, not trying to call people out, and I'm not bc I think your concerns are well warranted, but it's definitely too early to think Pierce may not be the guy. Was he our first choice. Lol, no. He wasn't even our second, third, fourth... you get the idea. But the guy to a degree has resurrected the program from it's state a few years ago. And no, it's not where we want the program or where it deserves to be, but I can assure you Pierce is not a soft guy. That's more of the basketball coaches MO in my honest opinion.
This was aggy's superbowl, it is every year. And they barely held on to a victory that we spotted them 4 runs. Not to mention, they chanted their conference's name despite the fact that they've only one it once in the regular season in any of the big 3 sports (it was a basketball co-championship thanks to a bullshit tech call in Collie Station against a UK player), and they haven't really been close in any other year. Not to mention they currently have a losing record in that conference. Think about that.
I know we have high demands, and rightfully so: it's the most successful baseball program by a mile in the sport all-time. But it's gonna take a minute. Especially when the team has 21 new players this year. I can assure you, Augie's first 2-3 seasons were not ones to be remembered. Texas will be fine. Or they won't, and they'll move on in another couple of years or so. But I can only hope, now with a competent AD, they won't give him some enormous extension for minimal success like they did for Shaka.

Oh good, for a second there I thought we were going to leave a shit ton of baserunners on while the other team was in the lead. Good thing we didn't do that again...
-
Texas has found new ways to shit their pants tonight. Really concerning going into ou weekend with the conference on the line.
I miss the days when Texas didn’t cowar in fear of half decent opponents

Unless some remarkable turnaround happens, or a conf tournament victory, I think Texas's sweep probably ended Baylor's postseason hopes officially today. Having already played Texas, ou and tech, they're basically out of big rpi boosters.
Tcu is in immense trouble, which has been enjoyable to watch. Hopefully they don't figure it out when they travel to the disch in May.
Tech so far still has the right to be considered the class of the Big 12, imo, but their struggles to sweep teams has been eye-opening to say the least. They've lost 4 of their 7 games by giving up 10 or more runs to the other team, highlighting some of their pitching troubles. Gingery being out for the season has hurt them
Texas's upcoming series @ou and @tech will tell us a lot about Texas's realistic chances of hosting this postseason (assuming they hold serve and make it to the postseason at-large, which they should do)

Kam Fields getting the start in center.
Btw, it's Shugart today, not Kingham, despite what the lineup says. Also, I don't believe Kody has changed his number to "Q" - Edit: nvm they deleted the tweet
