  2. Wow a 70 dollar case is nice, no edges that cut you and its no screws so far putting in all the drives.  Very nice.

Evga is late, so I'm waiting on the Motherboard, because of weather.  I can't wait to have my first fast PC.  I've always bought the cheapest new components.

I had a 4tb drive that I never put in my Unraid server, so I just took out a 1.5tb and put that in to take me to a 17tb media server.  I think 8 Hard drives.

I'm going to throw away or donate my old hdd's.  38gb - 800gb, most 500gb.

  3. So, I'm going to try to get back into gaming.

I'm old and slow now.  I like adventure, puzzles, stategy...

I've been looking through Steam.  What I bought so far (sale or works with my Shield TV): Table top simulator, Stardew Valley.

I have this on my wishlist and the main one I want Forza Horizon 3):

Firewatch, The Forest, The Long Dark, Frost Punk, Hero-U,  Kingdome Come, Subnautica, Squad, Surviving Mars, House Flipper, They are Billions, The Raft

Anyway, what are your favorite games of the last decade, Thanks?

  4. The Shield Tv just got the Geforce Now upgraded service.

So right now if you have a game you bought on Steam, Uplay, or Battle, you can play the game on their "super" servers, and it streams the games.  I've been playing with it today.  It works great.

Since everything is moving to the cloud, this has to be the future of gaming.  Buy a $100-200 box, and you pay a subsciption to play a few games.

You don't have to fork out money for the latest greatest pc or console every few years..

  5. Nvidia just said they were making the Geforce Now from their PC and Mac Beta to include Shield TV also, so looking forward to that..

Although they sound like they are one of the more expensive companies going forward, charging per hour.  Hopefully they will realize no one is going to pay to play by hour or how much they want to charge per hour...

I played around with Kodi on an older Amazon Fire Stick this past weekend.  Fairly disappointed in the performance.   To watch a movie, it took me up to 5 minutes to find an source and start the movie.  And if the movie had annoying foreign subtitles, I had start over.     While I'm not expecting everything to work at the touch of a button, is this normal performance?

    Kodi.

So, yes.  One might have to try a few different sources. It may take you five minutes.  You may find one with built in Subs.

It is a trade off.  How much do you want to see that certain item on a click of a button for 5 dollars, or can you go through waiting for a good stream to load for free..

I've also learned it depends on your streaming device.  I just got a Shield Tv, and compared to my old Fire Tv's it is super quick pulling up a stream.  It also depends on your Kodi addon.  I've had more luck lately with Neptune Rising over Placenta...

If you are on a Fire TV and just want to stream stuff.  There are apps like Terrarium .  Kodi is a media player, etc. bigger program.  This might work better for you..

  7. Ughh.  I hate those calls.

I was looking over my moms bill recently.  She is paying $250 a month for Uverse.  2 tvs, phone, and 12mb internet.

I first called, got an Indian.  I couldn't understand what he was saying, so I asked to be escalated.  Then I spoke to someone with a spanish accent, but better.

I ended up in a shouting match.  I got her $50 off(600 for the year) with more channels(she wanted the Halmark Movie channel :) ) and 100 mb internet.  I was going for $100. :)

I tried asking why I see $90 for all of this online and whether they value new customers more than her..  My mom is too nice, and was "ok" . I gave up and let my mom speak, as I got too livid..

So I have yet to get the notice from DTV Now that my prices are changing. Now I am using the AT&T Wireless unlimited discount, so maybe that affects it? Anyone know?

Per my email it states the change will take place on 7/28.  I have my bill auto draft, so I'm not sure if that is my bill due date or the date of the change..

So, I suppose look at your bill after that...

  9. Yeah, if you have the CD Key and the cd, or keep a downloaded version of the install file on a cd, then I would think you would not have a problem (if it is a digital version who knows if MS will have that hosted version down the road, so if so, I would make sure I have a copy of that file available to me and backed up when I need it.

I've read up on GPU's.  I understand Nvidia has a surplus and bitcoin is down, so I need to wait a few weeks to a month..

    Thanks,

Our computer that used to be my wife's and we used mostly for the kids and stuff took a dump. Will be used almost exclusively for browsing, watching videos, etc. Don't need much if any HD space. I have a monitor I can use, we have a keyboard, etc. So I just need a box with windows. I guess it would be good if it had office.

It sounds like you got a good pc, so as far as Office...

I office from home and MS Office is too expensive...

Office.  I use Open Office or Google Docs.  They are both free alternatives.  I have had nothing but success this these...

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/

    https://www.google.com/docs/about/

I mainly use google docs.  The only time I use Open office is when someone sends me a .docx doc, then I use Open Office...

    Good luck..

  12. Yeah, I just read an article about all of these streaming companies now at a base rate of $40.

They offered a service not as good as cable, but at a cheaper rate.  Now they are working to offer the same thing at the same rate.

I used to and still do use Kodi to watch tv shows.  If they up the bill again.  I will go back to not paying.

It is not that big of a deal to wait 30 minutes for me to watch a show.  ESPN now has a subscription.

I just read on Troypoint.com there are a couple of services I could get for $10 a month to stream 400 channels using my android devices...

Great picture!  I was just thinking about that red "truck" recently and couldn't remember what it was called.  I wanted to see what the value of those had done since it was only made for a couple of years.

  15. I read that a couple of days ago (ATT).

I am on their $35 GO Big from when they started.  It is now going to be $40, still cheaper than regular price of $60.

I did a comparison of all the plans.  I am still getting all the channels I want for the same price or cheaper than other services.

I don't watch all these channels, and I would be happy with their base plan (which would be the same price).
