This feels like an escalation

QuoteJudge Hannah Dugan was arrested on suspicion that she “intentionally misdirected federal agents away from” an immigrant being pursued by the authorities, the F.B.I. director said.

May be nothing but it seems they are moving to ban books at major retailers.

Until a white female is sent off to El Salvador by mistake, people won’t give a shit IMO.
Too busy getting caught up with the clown show and watching their 401K

QuoteThere was no explanation, no warning. One minute, I was in an immigration office talking to an officer about my work visa, which had been approved months before and allowed me, a Canadian, to work in the US. The next, I was told to put my hands against the wall, and patted down like a criminal before being sent to an Ice detention center without the chance to talk to a lawyer.

Nothing bad has ever happened under Trump.
Is there any doubt that if he hadn’t been president in 2020, he’d be saying “Covid never would have happened with me as president!”.Biden derangement syndrome

Similar for me last August. It'd been since the AMD Athlon days when I built my last PC and I was blown away by how cost efficient it is to build a powerful machine. Plus the headaches of troubleshooting hardware/driver issues were non-existent.
Not as powerful as yours, didn't get the x3D CPU and picked up a used GPU off eBay. Did opt for AM5 architecture, though.
Ryzen 7 7700x
6700 xt GPU, 12GB VRAM
32GB DDR5 RAM
Next I'd like to upgrade my 60Hz IPS monitors. OLED maybe??
Oled is my next purchase. Prices have been dropping so hoping to go for it soon.

Yeah, but what’s your render distance and FPS in Minecraft?
You joke but the first game I installed was Civ V.

It's been 10+ years since I built a gaming rig but with the upcoming tariffs, I figured it's now or never (or at least for a long while). Been a fun experience with some learning curve that comes with all the new bells and whistles you can add to a pc.
Phanteks NV5 case
AMD 9800x3d cpu
32 gb 6000mhz ram
7900xtx oc gpu
This thing blazes with anything I throw at it, including VR gaming.

At what point does a group of oppositionists gather and attempt a violent coup? One week in and they are already just ignoring the law. It's already an insurrection, and the only chance to stop it is to kill/arrest them and seize power. That's where we are right now
I was told there was a deep state that would stop Trump.

If you're a practitioner in the space, check out this GitHub repo. A PhD student trained (fine-tuned, to be technical) their own 3B parameter model using about $30 in compute.
https://github.com/Jiayi-Pan/TinyZero
It brings a reinforcement learning layer to train it to have better reasoning and self-reject responses that don't make sense.
I'm working on building that repo on my local system this week, IF my 12GB of vram is enough, but I'm very interested to see what sort of domain expertise I can cram into my own distilled models trained on my own hardware.
The incredible innovation here appears to be a significantly optimized training architecture that results in decreased compute costs for training and inference. Really excited to tear into this stuff - if I can attain a mastery I'll have my goals basically complete for the year
I'm not dev but in IT and responsible for our internal use policy. I'll get that info to the team to test out and compare. Appreciate the input.

On my machine I'm getting 40-50% more token throughput and full responses with reasoning in about the same time as Llama3.2, comparing similar parameter count distilled models.
Are y'all doing any fine tuning or RAG on your corpus of data? If you're looking for an easy button and have CUDA cores, nvidia's RTX chat app is a pretty solid and dummy-proof ingestion engine to show proof of concept at a local scale. It creates the embeddings and stores them as a static file in your filesystem, so it's not nearly as scalable as a proper vector store, but it's wayyyyy fewer moving prices for proving the concept
We're still POCing but yes, using RAGs via Msty for right now unless we can find a better solution but the Ollama/Msty package is providing great results.

Yeah I just grabbed a few open source copies of the deepseek r1 model and the 14B model runs shockingly well and fast and only takes 10GB of memory while handling a query, I'd bet my wife's m2 macbook air could run it. It outputs its reasoning and thinking as it works through a problem. It is a distilled model, but I've been impressed with its performance so far compared to relative bar of other LLM's
If you're interested in setting it up, it's pretty easy to do locally with ollama and chatbox, this reddit post is a good howto with pictures
How does it compare to Ollama? We're testing Ollama for internal ai capabilities at our company as a way to not have our data out in the wild. So far it has shown great results and performance on company provided laptops.

Rabbit in a clay pot at Katka is nails. If you ever want to see another cool spot of the Gorge, Cape Horn on Washington side. Might be the prettiest drive of the Gorge. imho.
Go to the tide pools of Cannon Beach. Always fun, but have some cheap water proof boots, that water is Cole.
(Not my pic, but you get the idea.)
BTW, rabbit pot was on point. I drank a lot of the horseradish vodka and am OK with that.
Today was dicking around town.
