Or they want to face better competition: Us, ou, Iowa State

As an ISU alum and fan, I'm still getting used to hearing Iowa State and better competition in the same sentence.  But I do enjoy it.

  4. My two radio's were set to renew at $420.  Made the call using 888-601-6302 (thanks Lurch).  They offered me $90/year for each without blink.  I responded "I see you have a deal at $5/month on your website, that $60/year".

Ok sir, let me see what I can do...  Yes, I can do $60/year.

As mentioned above, this was the easiest renewal I've ever had with them. $75/year after fees is the lowest I've got it in awhile.  10 minutes and I saved $270.

  5. I'm almost 5 years into a 15 year @ 3.125.  LTV is 43%.  I'm guessing I can't save much with a refi but thought I would ask the experts.  Wife and I have great credit and I wouldn't be opposed to throwing some additional funds at the principal to save some interest long term.  Is my best bet to just pay down some principal and sit tight?

On my first house I refied from a 5.25% (30 year) to a 2.625% (7/1 arm), paid down some principal and cut my payment by more than half but kept paying the same amount as I was when I had the 5.25.  I'm obviously not going to find that kind of a deal now.  But that is sort of my line of thinking.

  6. Around Halloween my 6 year old comes up with what she's swears is her own joke.

"What did the poop say to the toilet?"  "Can I jump in your pool?"

Not sure I believe her, but she always trying to make poop jokes so maybe she did.

  8. ^Still wouldn't drink it...  But no they are donating $10 to some charity for each bushel they sell.

There was a big hubbub towards Busch Light when they dropped their affiliation with the dude who raised $3 million for charity after it was discovered he tweeted out stupid racist shit when he was 16 (quoting Tosh.O).  Busch Light still did the match though.  Pretty big story up here in Iowa.  After Busch Light dropped their affiliation a bunch of people took to twitter swearing they would never drink Busch Light again.  And I don't blame them but that's because I think Busch Light tastes like piss water.

You just knew a story this good wouldn't end without an exclamation point and today Carson King got it.

On Monday, King's two-week long fundraiser for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital came up just short of his final goal of $3 million.  King announced Tuesday afternoon that he'd raised a grand total of $2,950,000.

But today that total was pushed to the $3,000,000 finish line thanks to a late donation from West Des Moines-based Doll Distributing, the local distributor for Busch Light in Central Iowa.  The company says 13 different distributors from across the state chipped in to make the final $41,000 gift.

King's fundraiser started before the Iowa-Iowa State football game in Ames when he held up a sign asking for money via Venmo to buy more Busch Light during ESPN's 'College GameDay'.  The sign worked, with donations pouring into his account.

King quickly announced that he'd donate all the money sent to his Venmo account to the UI Children's Hospital.  Busch Light and Venmo both quickly announced they'd match whatever King raised.  Several other donors including RAGBRAI and Carson's employer, Prairie Meadows, announced major gifts as well.

King says he plans to deliver the final $3 million check to the hospital on October 12th when the Hawkeyes host Penn State.

I like Al but this thread is a beating because no matter what page you're on there's multiple posts about just how bad ISU is.  One of my best friends (Jared Homan) played for ISU and there's lots of great ISU people in Chicago, so I have to give a pass.  Anyways, carry on.

Small world.  He is a friend of a friend.  Have partied with him a few times back in the day.

  13. I got mine done two weeks ago.  Procedure was definitely more painful than I expected.  Recovery has been what I expected.  I'll give the doc some credit for trying to lighten up the situation by reminding me I was actually a numb nuts.  I'm supposed to take my sample back in 90 days but most everyone I've talked to said they never did.  Fuck that, I'm not risking number 4 after lucking out and avoiding a third girl.

Why the fuck did the NFL schedule the outdoors game in freezing temperatures at night?

What I heard/read was that they flip the games every other year. NFC has early game one year, the AFC the next and so on.  Don't know if that's true or not.  Luckily the weather in KC today will be much better than what they were calling for earlier in the week.  It appears temp will be pretty consistent throughout day/evening so don't think it matters much.

As a life long Chiefs fan, I'm so jacked for this.  I fully expect some bull shit craziness to bite us in the ass, but I really believe the Chiefs have the best team and Arrowhead will be lit.
