I have an idea!  Why don't we leave both the preemptive thread-shitting and the reactionary thread-shitting to the doomsayer threads like ___ what the f is wrong with you and the great enshittification thread, and leave this one positive, as it was designed and intended?

    I'll go again--

I grew up going here as a kid in the 70s/80s, and my kids have grown up going here as well.  And it really hasn't changed all that much, aside from 1/2 of it becoming an antique mall...

Antique mall is closing next month and Playland is expanding!

This is what happens when the majority of the US who were C average students vote fellow dipshits into office.

    https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/04/new-hampshire-republicans-polio-mmr-measles-vaccine-antivax-bill/

New Hampshire could soon beat Florida—known for its anti-vaccine Surgeon General—when it comes to loosening vaccine requirements. A first-in-the-nation bill that’s already passed New Hampshire’s state House, sponsored only by Republican legislators, would end the requirement for parents enrolling kids in childcare to provide documentation of polio and measles vaccination. New Hampshire would be the only state in the US to have such a law, although many states allow religious exemptions to vaccine requirements.

Currently, Republicans control New Hampshire’s state House, Senate and governor’s office—but that isn’t a guarantee that the bill will be signed into law, with GOP Gov.

My father and my mother-in-law both had polio when they were children, with MIL also dealing with post-polio syndrome the last few years.  Fuck anyone that thinks this is a good idea.

If a hugely consequential and incredibly surgical land use reform package while also unfucking the CMs office and three public safety agencies and getting multiple city enterprises back on the rails while also operating in a weak-mayor system doesn’t move the needle for you, I don’t know what to tell you. You don’t have to agree with what he’s done, but he’s done a LOT.

Eliminating street lanes around town, such as on Barton Springs, has been just great as well.  Nothing like bottling up traffic more and more.

Also, David Pierce has taken Texas to 3 CWS and barely missed a 4th. All Texas has to do is win the rest of their series and the Big 12 tournament and they're into the NCAA tournament, hopefully with a 2 seed in the College Station regional. This discussion is ludicrous and you know nothing about baseball.

Being happy with a 2 seed at a regional anywhere is ludicrous, let alone sheephumpingville.  And stupid.

This is TEXAS.  The bastion of college baseball.  Hosting should be our birth right dammit.

  6. Two calls tonight from "roofing" companies ready to come out tomorrow and inspect.  Said they have multiple appointments in the neighborhood but could squeeze me in.  Played along for a few minutes, then mentioned I've been around home building and real estate in Austin my entire life and never heard of them.  Hung up on me oddly enough.

Guess I'm missing something on this one.  Can't tell one way or the other if the bottle is sealed.  It doesn't look completely full to me.

Would they not pour it out though?

Glad I’m not the only one that remembers those from the 1980’s.  In such poor taste but still funny 40 years later.

How’d she burn her other ear?

    They called back.

watching the press conferences of her teams from the wcws was wild. it was like watching a cult be interviewed. every single player basically credited god and jesus and faith for their unbelievable success. every answer to every question was about faith and jesus and god. it was very strange to watch.

For some there is nothing strange about it.

Quit carrying water for the pussy who sucker punched him.  I can't believe so many of you are defending that piece of shit.  It would have been one thing if one of those two guys in front of him had done it.

The dude that hit him was in front of him.

He had quality starts against Washington and Baylor, both games where the lead was coughed up in the late innings.

But yes, I get your point. There isn’t anyone to insert into the rotation in this place. Maybe you can push him back a day or two but you have to ride with him.

Not that he was stellar last year, but the drop off/regression this year with Pierce as the "pitching coach"...well...

    Wrong thread dude.

But seriously, as others have noted, declaring a public emergency isn't a big deal - it's a way to get more people/services online with a lot less red tape.

Food/Gas really isn't going to be an issue for locals. They can stock up right now and be good for the event. Gas - fill up early.

Eclipse glasses - just read them, if they are ISO 12312-2, they should be fine. The "tests" she ran don't mean crap.

What about computers crashing?  Had a guy today cancel a Teams meeting Monday because he says computers are going to crash during the eclipse.  And he was dead serious.

Hand wringing over a solution to the homeless “problem” always cracks me up.

Houses get built when someone thinks they can profit from doing so. No one profits from building houses for people who can’t pay. So they don’t get built.

There are only two possible solutions: 1) steal money from your electorate (taxes) to pay builders enough so they can make a profit and will build, or 2) steal money from your electorate (taxes) and build it yourself. There is no other answer.

But people are people and like to fuck chickens and wring hands and grandstand to get votes and so on and so on. So here we are.

Or a city could buy a few hotels...

  15. I'm not sure I'd call that a sucker punch.  Dude was pretty much in front of him, too the side a little maybe.  Grabbed him by the collar, turned him, and hit him.

Sucker punch to me is from the side completely unseen.
