Sat in the Turn 18 stands, left as soon as Max won. Was at home in South Austin by 4:30. Watched the post-race festivities on DVR. You either leave immediately or prepare to spend the night.

Does anyone have any recommendations for F1 podcasts? I listened to the latest episode of F1 Nation and thought it was pretty good.
I listen to the BBC Chequered Flag podcast and the Autosport F1 podcast.

More on a 2nd race at COTA.
QuoteAs Formula One continues to adjust its 2021 schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic, Circuit of The Americas chairman and CEO Bobby Epstein says the venue “absolutely” would be on board for a second race at the track, possibly ahead of the United States Grand Prix from Oct. 22-24.
A potential second U.S.-based grand prix is a byproduct of a void on the F1 calendar, created when the Oct. 3 Singapore Grand Prix was canceled due to pandemic-related safety concerns. With the Oct. 10 Japanese Grand Prix also in question, additional F1 schedule changes could be on the horizon. A conceivable scenario would see the Japanese Grand Prix move up a weekend to Oct. 3, thereby giving teams the week to travel to COTA for an Oct. 15-17 race weekend. The date of the originally scheduled United States Grand Prix would remain unchanged. F1 favors a track hosting consecutive races to ease the travel burden on its teams.
“Well, possibly I think is the keyword,” Epstein told The Athletic on Wednesday. “By the nature of (COTA) being a permanent circuit, when F1 looks at their calendar later in the year it would make sense to be considered as a possible location.
“At this point, there are absolutely no plans for a second grand prix here. But if F1 wants it and it’s good for the sport, then we absolutely want to be there for them.”
The only other viable U.S. venue that could accommodate F1 is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, which hosted F1 from 2000-07 and has the required FIA Grade 1 license. Track owner Roger Penske has publicly stated he would like F1 to return to Indianapolis, but told the Associated Press on June 4, “We’re not in any position at the moment … we’re always talking, but the economics would have to work on both sides to make it happen and we’re not in any discussion.”
Working in COTA’s favor beyond its already-slated race — something it’s done annually since 2012 (with the exception of last year, when the race was canceled due to COVID-19) — is that it would require little lead time to accommodate a second grand prix.
“We just had a passing comment (with F1) about it several weeks ago,” Epstein said. “And then after the news came up in Baku about us being in line for a possible second race, we had just a cursory conversation where (F1) said ‘we’re not ready to have that conversation right now, we don’t need to.’
“I think if shifts occur in the calendar later in the year or they can’t get in and out of other countries, then certainly we’ll have those conversations. I don’t expect any decision in that direction to come in the next month.”
Epstein supports multiple visits to the United States, even if they’re not at his facility. This includes the Miami Grand Prix, which has been added to the 2022 F1 calendar as part of a 10-year agreement, or possibly a future race that Penske seeks at Indianapolis.
“Because we’re spread out on the calendar, we’re going to complement each other really well,” Epstein said regarding the Miami race, likely to be held sometime in the second quarter.
As for the saturation point on the number of races in the United States, Epstein believes the current demand is such that multiple visits would not negatively impact attendance at COTA or elsewhere. This stance is supported by an increased number of Americans watching F1 on television. ESPN’s broadcast of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix averaged 956,000 viewers, the most most-watched Formula 1 race since the start of the 2020 season, while overall ESPN has had a 46 percent increase in ratings this year compared to the same point in 2019.
“If the fan base keeps going the way it has been, then three races is not an issue for us,” Epstein said. “We’re focused on growing our event, and even this year we’re looking to grow attendance by more than 20 percent. We’re looking at making infrastructure improvements to the facility that would allow us to increase our capacity and so we are planning for that fan growth.”
A second F1 race would be a significant financial boon for COTA. Tickets for the United States Grand Prix are already sold out, Epstein said; though he wouldn’t specify the exact number, he said it exceeded 100,000.
Talks of COTA having two grands prix in 2021 comes as the track and F1 discuss the extension of a 10-year sanctioning agreement that expires at the end of the year. The Fort-Worth Star-Telegram reported last month that should COTA fall from the F1 schedule or if a second U.S. track hosts a grand prix, F1 would lose approximately $25 million it receives annually from the state of Texas through a state reimbursement program that, in essence, pays F1 to hold the U.S. Grand Prix, but only in Austin.
Even if the track lost its F1 date, Epstein said COTA would continue to host other events that help the track turn a profit — such as the NASCAR race weekend it held for the first time last month.
“F1 is definitely the marquee event that’s helped build the brand, but we’ve added enough to the campus that it’s not the end-all, be-all,” Epstein said. “The business is pretty diverse. Historically, F1 has not been the most profitable component of our business.”

Max doesn't hold back on his opinion of Albon's performance.
Quote“You can fill that out for yourself, but I don't think that if you drive 30 or 40 seconds behind your teammate, that's very good. I can just be honest about that, right? It was a shame for Checo [Perez] too, because I think he drove a very strong race. It's nice for Alex that he is on the podium," said a clear Verstappen to Ziggo Sport.

Tony Stewart thinks NASCAR could hold race at COTA.
QuoteBut, as to whether NASCAR could put on a decent race at COTA Stewart responded, “Absolutely. Don’t tell Eddie Gossage (president of Texas Motor Speedway) that, he’ll get mad at me. But yeah. I think NASCAR is actually looking to run some more road course races, and after driving it there’s some really good passing opportunities on this track for our cars, and I think it would be a lot of fun to see a race here.”
Stewart said he expects to have a chat with NASCAR officials when he’s in the garage this weekend.
“I think it would be very realistic and very easy for NASCAR to come here,” he said. “The facility is already set up for it, and driving the track, there are definitely five legitimate, solid, passing opportunities on this track. That’s plenty to have a really good race here.”

If Riley let the president dictate who's on the coaching staff, Riley is a little bitch. If Stoops was fired over his objections, Riley should have turned in his letter of resignation the same day. Nobody should be dictating coaching staff to the head coach. The admin would have immediately backed down, of course, with Riley's resignation. But I guess Riley is a pussy.
