AUSTIN, Texas — A pair of well-known Austin radio stations are set to get new ownership.

Norsan Media, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based media company, reports that it has purchased Genuine Austin Radio, which operates KOKE-FM 99.3 and The Horn FM 101.9 FM and 1260 AM.

Norsan Media specializes in content geared toward Hispanic and Spanish-speaking audiences, operating stations in the Carolinas, Florida and Texas. The company already operates La Raza 95.1 in Austin, which specializes in regional Mexican music.

At the moment, it is unclear if the acquisition will impact the programming on either station – KOKE-FM currently airs country music and The Horn specializes in University of Texas-oriented sports content – or if it will impact any on-air talent at either station.

The FCC still has to approve the sale before the acquisition is finalized.

My uncle gave me a brand new Camp Chef he never used.  I usually use the egg at home or a stick burner at ranch.  Probably won't use Camp Chef for brisket, but will for ribs, pork and chicken.  Do people like the Camp Chef?

I'm just now catching this. I like Camp Chef and have two of them. I bought the Persuit 20 almost two years ago and it has performed without a hitch. I got the Woodwind Pro 24 about 6 months ago and haven't had any problems. The woodwind is cool because it lets you burn wood chunks above the firepot for more smoke flavor!

  3. What are you all using to vacuum and clean clean out your smokers? I'm using a 2 gallon wet/dry shop vac but wondering if there is a good portable cordless handheld unit that could get the job done. I figure It would need to have a crevice nozzle too.

  4. Just over a year ago I Picked up a Lone Star Grillz 20x36 pellet smoker. It's awesome but she's a beast, well over 400 pounds. I keep her in my storage shed and pull her out when I want to use her, and even with the 8" wheels its a chore to roll across the yard, so I'm thinking about downsizing. What's the market look like for a slightly used pellet smoker?

  5. Oh man Drifter!!! I know how you feel. I had a house fire in August 2018, it happened while I was at work my dog was able to get out of the house and survive because she had a doggie door and hung out in the backyard until the neighbors took her in. She still gets scared when she hears a loud beeping noise like a smoke detector. I live in North Austin and my place was a builder grade house built in 1975, so when it was rebuilt it was so wonderful to have a great new house with new windows, extra insulation and completely modernized. The 12 months that it took to rebuild were VERY stressful but Travelers insurance was great, and since then I've really enjoyed the new house. Good luck.

  6. Where have all of the red baskets gone? Went to the 183/620 HEB on Friday and there were no red baskets available at the front door and nobody in the store had any, it was all push carts. So I asked an employee what happened and she said "they all walked off and they are waiting on more". Then this afternoon I had to stop by the Mopac/Parmer store for a few things and guess what? No red baskets. So again I ask an employee what happened and his reply was that they all walked away. I don't believe it. What in the hell is going on?

  7. Made a trip from Austin to Conroe to pick up my 20X36 from Lone Star Grillz. It's made of 3/16 metal and weights 395 pounds. (My buddy got the 42") After getting it seasoned, I threw on some chuck short ribs last night running 220F overnight and finished the last 40 minutes at 300F to help firm up the bark this morning. Plenty of smoke!! The Fireboard controller is programmed to have a little bit of temperature swing versus a constant temp so that it introduces more pellets when it is below setpoint.
