Also, the videos I saw didn't really indicate a major nose-down movement prior to impact, and it certainly didn't look 50+ degrees nose down at time of impact.

Police need to have guns that shoot nonlethal tranquilizer darts for situations like this. We can't have major transportation infrastructure shut down for hours every time one person has a bad day.

What possible reason could there be for this kind of decision? Is there a huge cost savings, or is the release of this weather data to forecasters some kind of national security risk?
Or is the real reason some bullshit like "weather forecasting is WOKE and we won't allow data to be collected that might further demonstrate anthropogenic climate change"?

Y'all can thank me for that rain in Austin today around 3:00, I got my car washed just before. I swear an hour before there wasn't anything on radar within 20 miles and then as soon as I'm out of the car wash, sudden squall line outta nowhere.

A commenter on one aviation channel on Youtube suggested that the dust was kicked up by the 787 going into the runway overrun area, but I'd take that with a grain of salt.

I can't really see anything obvious from the engines to suggest bird strike(s), but it could still be the case. My unfounded speculation leans toward a) flap misconfiguration or premature retraction, (which you'd think would almost be impossible on such a modern aircraft), b) takeoff distance or load miscalculation leading to not enough speed to maintain climb once out of ground effect, or c) problem with engine power setting (autothrottle or TOGA malfunction, or human error setting throttle position for takeoff/climb).
I'm not a pilot but I have a lot of hours in MSFS...

Random question about UT campus that I should know: If you turn onto San Jacinto from Dean Keeton, there is a sign at that end of San Jacinto that says "No Thru Traffic--Entering University of Texas." But I don't see anything that prevents someone from using San Jacinto to drive all the way thru campus from Dean Keeton down to MLK. Why does it say "No Thru Traffic"? Is there a guard checking permits at some checkpoint or something?

OK. So maybe this is the first time an American-made fighter shot down a fighter with a Russian flag on it?

Just for the record, F-16s have shot down a number of Soviet-built MiGs in other conflicts, but I guess those were export MiGs operated by other governments.

Fuckin A'. Does ESPN or somebody not have enough room on their fuckin' normal cable channels to give us a spot? I don't watch anything that requires a fucking app or specific login.
UT needs a blanket policy for our three major sports: we don't consent for our games to be televised except on "mainstream" sports networks, Don't let these fuckers leverage our programs into making more money for them, at the expense of fans and the general public.

Did you ever encounter any alligators? I've heard there are a bunch of them in there.
No, I never saw anything like that. I was spooked by some kind of bigass gar once.
This was way back in the early and mid-1980s so I don't know what may have changed there. But the public park there was a pretty decent place for bank & wade fishing.

From the article:
According to the AG's office, both Gonzalez Gonzalez and the unnamed man, are undocumented Venezuelan nationals

Your schtick is tiresome. Someone with Pflugerville in their name has a lot of nerve bashing Austin. Pville is the shittiest of the burbs and its not close.

When I was young I fished Coleto Creek lake a lot along the bank, and would just wade out far enough to cast to the outer edges of the weedbeds. It worked pretty well but I'm not really keen on wading around in murky water anymore, especially when I'm not familiar with the topography under the surface.
Kayak is definitely a good way to do it, but with my body size and shape, that would inevitably result in me appearing in a viral "fat man thinks he can ride in a canoe" video.

This bigass storm line tracking towards Austin is going to fizzle out or change direction before it gets here

Hypothetically if someone in Central TX wanted to stock up on a few things before this goes into effect, what are some reliable and reputable businesses to patronize?

It's sudden-onset spatial disorientation, brought on by the Covid-19 vaccines and covered up by the MSM.
Real talk this looked like they were on a pretty normal approach for landing, no distress calls, plane just goes down a couple miles short. Some talk that it may have hit power lines but that might not necessarily be the root cause (if it hit power lines, then it was already too damn low). Maybe just flying too low trying to get a visual on the runway, in completely fogged in conditions. The Blancolirio channel has the initial rundown:

Well Victoria IS the Greatest Little Secret In Texas, or so bumper stickers told me at the time.
But sadly this wasn't a pleasure trip, in '81 my fam was moving to Victoria and we had to stay in a hotel for a few days before the house was ready.
-
Was the '81 Memorial Day flood kind of localized to Central TX, or did it affect a broad area of Texas? I was just a kid, but I remember being in Victoria that summer and it rained so much we had to change rooms at the hotel my family was staying in (first floor rooms near the pool were getting water inside).

This may sound trivial in light of all the unfathomable tragedy, but is Austin going to lose the water treatment plants like in the flooding in 2018? I'd like to think Lake Travis can absorb most of this before it gets into Lake Austin, but IDK.
