Any recommendations for shops in Vegas near the strip? May pick up some stuff to bring home.

MedMen is the first on the strip. Supposed to be a nice place.

  1. I'm not an expert, but I can tell you safety was not an issue when I took my wife, teenage son and his buddy last summer. Just like any major city, be smart, courteous, and aware and you will be fine. We used Uber everywhere and it was very easy and affordable. Our hotel was a couple of blocks from the Zocalo and we did a ton of walking to the sites around there. I felt safer there than I did on my last trip to New Orleans. Enjoy!

  2. Hey guys, looking for recs for the Monterey Coast. Wife and I will be there for 5 nights in late January, staying at the Inn at Spanish Bay. Wineries, breweries, seafood, are some of the things we are interested in. We would love local spots for food and drink as well. I know there is an aquarium close by, so will probably stop there for a visit. Open to any other suggestions. Thanks.

  3. Either you are trolling, or just a complete idiot. Sure there are some reprodcutions and models, but the museum is loaded with authentic, historic pieces. The 24 ton Piedra del Sol is stunning, and for me pretty awe inspiring. The giant Olmec heads, dozens of Aztec statues, the Disc of Mictlantecuhtli, are just a few of the stand out pieces at the museum.

I apologize for the name calling. You either get it and are inspired by it, or your not. You are clearly not, and that is ok. To each their own.

We hit up the Architecture and Anthropology museums, both which were very disappointing.

What the actual fuck?! The Anthropology museum is world class my man. After reading this retarded statement from you, I knew right then and there your review was fucking whack and you probably should just stay out of Mexico.

Any new recs for a good Brunch?

Terrace Point Cafe at the Wynn is fantastic for brunch. Sit on the patio overlooking the pool and you won't be sorry. Bottomless mimosas and the huevos ranchero skillet were a great start to the day. Hash House a go go  was huge portions and good food. Very crowded and the wait was pretty long. They make killer drinks though, so there is that.

  6. I've been watching hours and hours of these Ralph Emery specials on YouTube and there are some amazing performances. If it's alright with you fellas, I'm going to post a couple  of them. On the Glen Campbell, skipped to the 45 second mark to get to the singing. His cover of Crying is so fucking good, I can't get enough of it. Watching Willie, Waylon, and others is pure magic!

  7. This happened to my FIL over the winter. I went over to check it out and it had caused a giant water bubble in the yard. There was a small crack from the freeze and it caused a decent leak that flooded the box and then the yard. We had to shut off the water to the system and dig around to find the crack. Plumbers will do it, but they will charge you a lot of money to find it and fix it. The parts to fix it were less than $10, but it was not fun digging around the system to find the leak. Good luck.

  8. Executive Chef at Dry Creek Kitchen lived in Texas for a good bit. He loves the State, guns and hunting. He bought my wife and I drinks and desert one night after chatting with us for a good while. However, he does not like the Horns or the Cowboys. Oh yeah Rip Van Winkle pours were only $12 earlier this year.

Group doing Healdsburg next month. Appreciate any RRV, Dry Creek and Anderson Valley recs

Wife and I really enjoyed the tour and tasting at Jordan Winery earlier this year.. The setting was beautiful, the food delicious, and the wine did not disappoint. I wish I could remember the others, but I'm not a huge wine guy. I did really enjoy Russian River Brewing and Bear Republic Brewing though. Stayed 3 nights in Healdsburg and just loved everything about it.
