We(the US) definitely do not play by the rules.  We make up the rules as we go.  Or we pay someone else to not play by the rules and look the other way.  We are dirty as fuck

    That is true...

we can think they are dumbasses and started it but jesus just because we hate oklahoma doesn't mean the rules of the game don't apply. you bomb a government building and kill senior leaders I don't care who the opponent is, could be the miami hurricanes shock the nation and you should understandably expect a response. the fact that the US was able to negotiate that response with a sworn enemy is fucking phenomenal.

The only countries that play by the "rules of the game" are USA, UK, France, Germany and to a degree USSR.

Do you remember the '72 Olympics in Munich?  Black September kidnapped Israeli athletes from the Olympic Village and things went south.  What was Israel's response?  They sent the Mossad after the Black September members and killed them to send a message...'you don't play by the rules and neither do we".

Remember the Vietnam War?  The US played by the rules but the enemy did not and we pretty much got our asses kicked.

What do you think would happen to Israel in the Middle East if they "played by the rules" while Iran and everyone else played their own game?

    Hits     14

    BB     5

    HBP     4

    WP     2

In 1984, after coaching Michael Jordan on the gold-medal-winning U.S. Olympic team, Portland general manager Stu Inman called Knight for advice on the upcoming NBA draft. Knight counseled Inman to take Jordan, calling Jordan the best basketball player he had ever seen. Inman told Knight the Blazers already had Clyde Drexler and needed a center. Knight responded, "Then play Jordan at center."

With all the greats that came out of college in 1984 you think "how could a team fuck up a draft pick with the #2 pick?" and Portland managed to do it passing on Jordan, Olajuwon, Barkley, Stockton, Alvin Robertson, Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis, etc. and picked Sam Bowie.

  5. Texas played like ass a good part of the game today and despite that they were in a position to win.  Players make plays, they didn't make the plays when it counted.

  6. I would not be surprised if Texas is seeded in a bracket where they will match up against aggy, Tennessee or Marquette.  Obviously Tenn or Marquette would be further in the tourney but the committee loves to create controversial matchups for Texas up against rivals or former head coaches, something with a past history.

  7. Texas style of play these days is very similar to when my son was playing 15U AAU basketball.

Run around the court throwing up sloppy shots or throw it away (check)

Make half-hearted attempt to play defense (check)

Make half-hearted attempts to block out even though they are in man defense (check)

Trying to get caught in the wrong mis-match on the switch (check)

Now TCU is trying to reverse the roles.

  8. The key to beating Washington is to shut Penix down; they win by out scoring their opponents.  They have to establish the pass to open their run game.

If Texas does not pressure Penix he could easily pick the defense apart.  Texas has faced passing teams all season long so this is nothing different...front four have to push the line back into Penix and mix the blitzes.  Penix has been injury prone in his career so they won't call too many QB running plays but he can scramble for yardage if the pocket breaks down.

UW's defense is porous and teams have put points up on them.

Hopefully Ewers has used the extra time to work on his game.  If Texas can get the running game going it will make it easier for Ewers to hit his passes.
