  1. So Georgia and F1 in Austin on the same weekend... That should be as much fun as when the Big XII did it. Hard to see a large number of GA fans willing to pony up the going rate for a hotel in Cedar Park ($380 for a Hyatt place as of this morning). Most of Austin is booked already. Oh well, stronger home field advantage for us.

  2. I'm always amused by guys saying things like "I do it to blow off steam", do they feel like they just have to say something? Or do they think that will somehow be mitigating? Like the cops will say  "oh well since you were blowing off steam, you're free to go".

Dude, you were screwing your dog.

We had some serious weirdos in the faculty at UT back in the day, since we didn't have as many wildlife cameras back then we may have dodged a bullet.

  3. Done a few cruises and liked them. I've never done Carnival or MSC but was told to avoid them. Alaska was nice, but not sure I would do it again. I prefer the warm water.

Although, before I did the Alaskan cruise I never new that Skagway was an Eskimo word for "town with crappy gift shops". 😀

That was Pe-te's BBQ have been closed down since early 2000's

That was it. Good stuff back in the day. Once, I got back into Ellington around 0700, did paperwork and was headed out the gate at 0945 or so. I slept in my car waiting for them to open. Woke up had BBQ then back to my place over near the gulf freeway and went into the full on food coma.

Sorry to hear they are gone.

  5. Okay, last ask on this topic. Is the Leeland house pretty crowed for lunch in the summer. As mentioned I'm making this a day trip and don't want to devote 3 hours to getting lunch.

Looked up the air museum and sure enough it's at Ellington. I used to fly in and out of there for work but haven't been there since 1987. There used to be a BBQ place just to the north of the field, pretty ratty looking, but good Q. I think the owners were pretty old in '87 anyone know if it's still around or if there is something worthy of attention at lunch time near Ellington?

  6. That stinks. I knew they had moved the B-58, but I didn't know the whole thing was gone.

I did the sub tour up in Cleveland, but not sure another sub would be with a day trip.

The day sail might be with it.

  7. How's Moody Gardens? I'm thinking of a day trip, take my wife to Moody Gardens, then lunch (looking at trying the Black Pearl, if it's not overloaded during the summer) then back out. Maybe do the routine again for the air museum.

  8. game and the coach blew it. Young looked good because of
poor containment. He could not pass very well.

I wonder what his excuse is as to why Texas beat A&M that year. Oh yeah, Texas was lucky and not every call went their way so (of course) the refs screwed them!

  9. Anyone looking at going to Vegas? If so what is your plan? Bellagio has a couple of packages and I like staying there. Looks like it might be a bit easier to get top notch seats than at Austin.

The majority of "genius" level intellects have sloppy offices.  It's a thing.  You can discount it all you want.

I don’t think that’s anything more than an urban legend. Maybe something to it but I’ve never seen any studies done on it, and the truly intelligent people I’ve known couldn’t stand disorder.

Roschon could do a lot for the culture of the entire Windy City, not just the Bears.
If he develops into a great team leader there he can influence a lot of the young residents of the city who obviously are in desperate need of guidance in their everyday lives from positive & strong role models.
Roschon has demonstrated to the fans here that he has the makings to take that course, so I hope he expands his talents to the civic arena as he progresses in the years to come.

Unless he runs for mayor and wins, nothing is going to change in Chi-town. I used to travel there at least 4 times a year (company I worked for was based there) but that all ended about 15 years ago and from what I've heard since...no desire to go back, and I always thought it was a great city.

I always heard that Chicago was founded by New Yorkers that thought “the crime and poverty are great, but it’s just not cold enough”.

Jesus I love the guy and do think he’s a leader but this speaks more about how slobbish and unthoughtful some of the guys are more than anything. Some kids were at the house yesterday and doors left open and things left out. I closed all the doors, can I have a press conference (and an NFL contract) saying how amazing I am because I closed the doors?

I know you get it, but many won't. I have a daughter that dresses like a slob. Her car and her apartment are always a mess. She is smart (working on her masters degree) and beautiful (no pictures) but doesn't yet understand that those things say something to others about the way you think and how you operate. I believe they also say the same thing to your own brain and will act accordingly. Kind of a corollary to ADM McRaven's "make your bed".

  13. Well it's not zero sum, the ferry is a pretty good clusterfuck on any given day. I gave it a quick look but didn't find anything on how much the ferry setup costs to operate.

Yeah. Pretty tough to float a platform out from Ingleside with a bridge in the way.

I get that, but doesn't seem impossible. It's only a quarter mile or so. It wouldn't even be much of a tunnel if they decided to go that route.
