My son goes to Auburn. aggy was playing at Auburn the day after a parent's night. We decided about 3 weeks before to go to parent's night. The closest hotel we could find was in the Atlanta suburbs! if you are going to an Auburn game, plan well ahead.
Oh I'm a believer in that. It's easier to plan the home games, I have 4 different hotels that have become my "go to" spots. But even in Austin I try to have all my hotels booked and plans made. Some restaurants only go out a couple of months, so that gets a bit sketchy and hopefully we won't see a home game overlap with F1 weekend again.

Knoxville is a good town, I have been there a bunch for work. Tennessee has a really nice campus in the middle of "downtown" with some good restaurants and bars near. You can pretty easily find hotel space on the cheap if you are willing to drive 10 minutes, but it will be all 3 star places. I have always wanted to take a trip to Tuscaloosa and Oxford, and maybe Gainsville since I have always liked Florida. The rest will be a step down, but still a shit ton better than Manhattan or Morgantown to travel to.
Yeah, never had any desire to go to Manhattan or Morgantown. Never really cared for Lubbock, never even went to a Baylor game that wasn't at DKR.

I've been pondering future trips to away games, I didn't realize that most of the cities were so small. I've been to Baton Rouge, Knoxville, Nashville, and Lexington for work. Passed through Gainesville while moving back to Texas. College Station a handful of times.
The airports are acceptable, but a lot of times it looks like hotels are going to be 30-50 miles away. Not a deal killer, but most likely would cause you land at Columbus,Ga or Montgomery for an Auburn game. Or Memphis for an Ole' Miss game.
Looked at Knoxville as an example of one of the bigger SEC towns but even they have limited hotel space. If you look at their downtown Hyatt Place for their game against Aggy, it's asking $1100/night.
I have friends that will fly in for the game and fly out right after, but I've gotten to the point of wanting to be a bit more relaxed about the weekend.
Oxford, Knoxville, and Gainesville are high on my list. Maybe Nashville, Tuscaloosa, Columbia, SC and Auburn just a step behind.

Of course those stats look good for aggy when the other team hardly passes because they're rushing for 200+ a game.
How many teams on that list are better than Appalachian State? I can see one that wasn't.

1. Seems like it should have been knocked down in Alaska.
2. You know that pilot that shot it was have so much fucking fun. Go blow shit up without worrying about it shooting back.
Ehh, his squadron mates are going to give him endless crap. Even if they used a C-130. This could earn him/her a new callsign and it isn't going to be "Maverick" or "Ice Man". Something more along the lines of "Clown" or "Mr. Fredrickson".

Might not have been a fighter, could have been, but F-18, F-18E/F, F-22 and F-35 are not exactly optimised to shoot down balloons.

I had a buddy that got cornered by a politician in an ops area demanding to be brought up to speed on Intel regarding a situation. The congressperson was basically spitting mad my buddy wasn't bending over backwards to follow their requests. At one point yelling that they had clearance for the high level intel. My friend informed the congressperson "I know you do, but I lack the clearance level to divulge said intel." Politico when off in a huff. Not sure if they ever got what they wanted, but my buddy didn't end up in prison so there's that.

What’s up with her chin? That’s weird. Would bang tho.
Car crash when she was in High School, probably still safer than hanging out with Joe Mixon.

Yeah, I said "chase them down and try to ruin their lives." If you have stepped up and said "i'm out" how bad is excommunication? I'll grant you that if you stay in Utah you might be persona non grata, but you'd probably be okay if you move to say, Port Aransas. Either that or your can find some small hotel in south Utah, you know just a small mom and pop, and mom and mom and mom.

Nope. Houston. I just know enough about college sports to know what a shitty conference mate BYU is. They think they run shit, but in reality it's a shit school owned by a cult with delusional fans.
I won't consider them a cult until they start chasing down ex-members and detractors and try and ruin their lives like these guys...

Plenty more that could potentially take over now that OU/Texas and Bedlam are gone from the conference:
Kansas / KSU - Sunflower Showdown
OSU/Tech - who stole who's sign / both have horse riders after TDs
Tech/WVU - John Denver Bowl
Hell you could have a BYU / TCU / Baylor Holy Grail Cup.
So what are/should be the trophies for these budding rivalries?
Kansas/KSU - Easy/boring-bronzed sunflower.
OSU/Tech -Another easy one-get Tech to rework the boots they made for a rivalry they wanted but won't be using.
Tech/WVU - John Denver Bowl Trophy centered around a fuel selector valve. (I know it's in poor taste, but it's Surly and I'm iced/snowed in with nothing better to do)
BYU/TCU/ Baylor - I envision a trophy with some element contributed by each school. From BYU a deep hat with nothing in it and a pair of "magic" glasses, alternately some magic underwear and a bowl big enough to hold two years of food. From TCU maybe a plaque explaining that they are very Texan, not Christian anymore and barely a University. Ahh Baylor. Maybe a section of the trophy with a dead basketball player a gutted stray cat and a rape going on in the background while Art Briles and associates have their backs turned to it.

I'm assuming we don't escape the Big 12 this year. So here are the assumptions I've been making for my hotel planning. 9/2 is Rice 9/9 is Bama and 9/16 in Wyoming and unlikely to change. 10/13 should be OU. 10/20 is F1 (good luck getting a room if you haven't already booked). Probably a game after Thanksgiving 11/24 (maybe they will even screw us with a short week). Everything else is a guess for me, but I'm assuming we will get no consideration for scheduling cadence, so long road stretches or home stretches are a possibility.

OU schedule:
Non conference: Arkansas State (H) SMU (H) Tulsa (A)
Home: UCF TCU West Virginia Iowa State
Road: BYU Cincinnati Kansas Oklahoma State
Neutral: Texas
Do Not Play: Texas Tech Houston Baylor Kansas State
If this is valid, I'm willing to bet that we have a close approximation of the obverse side of the coin.
So we will get Tech,Houston,Baylor, KState and likely the most unfavorable of those (If not all) on the road. The Big 12 striking a balance between squeezing the last dollar, answering the pleadings of the "left behind" to get one more sellout, and screwing us over wherever the opportunity avails itself.

So in other words, the same tactics the Mongols used on them is working again on them hundreds of years later.
Well, they stuck with communism for 75+ years so yeah they aren't real quick on the uptake.

Am I the only person who didn't know they even had a medical school? That institution never came up when my kids were applying.
I know they have at least some of their med school at Round Rock. I did hear that they had an internship deal with Seaton/Breckenridge and when UT took that over for the med school they screamed bloody murder that their graduates had no internships available (and that it was all a plot by UT to screw them over). Lack of planning and options had nothing to do with it of course.

A tragedy that we all wish could go away. Ahh if it were just a perfect world. The amount of intervention in your life to reduce things such as this to zero, well, be careful what you wish for.

Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs vs. Eagles

I don't really care who wins, we are pulling for K.C. in this house because youngest daughter (the one at UT) thinks Andy Reid looks like the Lorax.
