Oh shit.  Hope Jeep Mafia don't see this.

Like I'm afraid. They could start with a convoy and none of them would make it to my place. Only things that are less reliable are made in England . . .

  2. Thought I finally had achieved a win, and gotten my wife to travel the path that is completely forbidden for women. No, not anal. The path to the garbage pan and the recycling bin.

About a week ago, I walk into the kitchen after having been commuting to work for 7 out of the last 10 days and pulling fairly long days. Yes, I understand this is called "daily life" for most households, but as we both work from home, it was rather unusual. Sitting on the counter was 4 or 5 items that needed to go in the recycling bin. Unfortunately, they couldn't fit in the under-counter bin, as it was full, and for my wife, that's a problem that cannot be solved. I breathed an exasperated sigh in her presence, loaded up both arms, and headed out the door for the journey over Mount Doom to our recycling bin. Fortunately, I avoided all of the pitfalls of my landscaped backyard and returned unscathed.

Flash forward to this weekend. We're at the lake house, and by some miracle (maybe alcohol-induced bravery?), my wife brought the full recycling bin from the kitchen down to the municipal bin and emptied it. The kitchen bin, however, remained outside. This morning, I bring the dogs out, see the bin, and bring it back upstairs. I place the bin back in it's holder, but it doesn't seat fully, as there's a can in it that my wife tossed in, earlier.

I'm not sure if I count this as a win, a loss, or a draw. An effort was made, but there was still no real reduction in work for me, as I still had to walk out and return the bin, and then the annoyance of the can in the holder.

So I was feeling nostalgic for my old CJ-7, so I priced them out. 20k? I don't think so. It was a piece of shit. It was fun, but a piece of shit.

Overpriced POS describes every Jeep made, IMO.

Only two trips to the auto parts store during the swap - probably a new record for me.

What in the Rube Goldbergian hell am I looking at? I get that it's a brake master cylinder, but why the hell does it go into a manifold with a sensor in it and only two lines coming out? Only thing I can think of is that the sensor tells you if you've lost pressure in the front or rear lines.

The biggest red flag to me is that the company has been around since 1987, they have been publicly traded since at least 2007, they have changed business plans multiple times, and yet somehow they are still a pre-revenue company. Go to their website and try to find any conclusive statements about revenue projections, or even when they expect to start generating revenue? As far as I can tell, their actual business plan is just to continue to issue OTC stock and keep a handful of people employed.

Its possible that battery recycling will finally be the homerun they have been searching for the last 40 years, but until they start generating revenue I'd probably hold off. I also strongly suspect they only have less than 10 employees. Probably closer to 5.

My dreams of an AMYZF funded early retirement are fading fast. Going to suck to still be working in my 50s

I know this is a stonk, so it could be down because someone farted in Argentina, but is there any reason not to grab more at this price?

I’ll play along. We just had a similar kind of odd situation. We are selling our house here in Oklahoma, we live in a small town on the northwest side of Oklahoma City. Houses don’t pop up for sale much, when they do they sell pretty fast. We had 5 acres, 30’x60’ shop, pool, everything a man could want. Problem was my neighbor and I don’t get along at all, he’s a cunt. None the less we list our house on a Friday, by the next Friday we have two offers. One is $1,000 over ask the other is $5,000 over ask. I took the lesser of the two. My reasoning. The one that was higher is best friends with my neighbor who I can’t stand. The way I look at it, fuck him. He’s not going to get to enjoy everything I built. My friends say I’m being an asshole. What say y’all?

I'm not even using a cart. I've got a small soft cooler and one grocery bag.

I'm in and out of HEB in 15 minutes every time I go so I know I'm not holding anyone up. This is usually between 10 and 11 am. Only a fucktarded idiot would shop between 5 and 6.

Two separate posts to justify your actions to the assholes of Surly: you're an asshole. Quit trying to rationalize and just own it.

Yo comprendo, senor. If the new guy is leaving your mouth feeling like you're the new "girl" in a supermax, your current dentist might not be doing his job right.

My husband does the same shit. He also puts the heat pump on emergency mode. It is a constant fucking battle and our bill is going to be awesome.

Shit, have you tried mansplaining to him what emergency mode is/does? Tell him to keep his f'ing hands off the thermostat and go back to making you a sandwich and opening that beer.

I went to the dentist this afternoon because I had to make a claim to my dental insurance company before the new year. My regular dentist's office is closed until next Tuesday, so I went somewhere that could fit me in.

HOLY SHIT, my mouth feels like it's been raped. The entire teeth cleaning process lasted maybe 15 minutes. He just took that pick and assaulted me like I owed him money. It probably looked like Normandy Beach in my mouth while he was working on it. Fuck that guy.

Sounds like you may want to change dentists . . .

This has been an interesting warmup by you all, but it’s time to get serious.  I give you, the Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport.

This car checks all the boxes.

    1.  American made.  Has a v6 in it so you’ve got all that American muscle.

    2.  Front wheel drive so that commie neighbor of yours won’t have a step on you with his Honda.

    3.  It’s got euro in the name so the young single guy down the street with the BMW will know you’re serious.

    4.  It’s computerized so those bureaucrats at the EPA are satisfied.

    5.  It’s got so much shit in the intake and exhaust system that somehow, magically, it can simultaneously get shitty gas mileage and create no power.  If the fuel is t creating power… and it’s not creating exhaust … what is it doing?

    6.  It’s got an AC Delco stereo with knobs, levers, an equalizer and a clock.

No matter the time, era or nostalgia, this car will never be in style or back in style. All of your shit cars pale in comparison to this shit.

    image.jpeg

Wait, this was a shit car, too? Because we had one of these when I was a kid, in addition to the Chrysler POS's . . .

  14. We had not one, but two Chrysler K cars in my family.

A Plymouth Reliant Station Wagon. I think it actually had the wood paneling, but that's one of those repressed childhood memories.

And to double-down on craptastic cars, they opted to upgrade to the Chrysler Lebaron Sedan.

Witness the stupidity of this PS system.

I have never fucked with the PS before myself.  This part is very cheap.  What is the worst that could happen, it is just the steering?

The reason for the fight is unclear, but a spokesperson for the airline referred to it as "totally inappropriate behavior," Bloomberg reported, citing La Tribune. The airline is investigating the pilots, The Daily Beast reported.

Let's not get carried away here. Plus first gen Cayennes are in my all time top 10 shittiest vehicle ever list.

Agreed, I'm not saying they're body on frame behemoths, but they were more rugged than the 2nd gen. Top 10 seems a bit extreme, but I've heard they sucked in a lot of areas. Granted, I think your opinion is a bit skewed. You don't strike me as a guy that's driven many true shitboxes. ;)

They don't have low range. More of an overland setup than offroading. They look good, though.

First gen's had the high/low range transfer case. They were much more truck-like, and the one that most guys choose when looking to build a trail vehicle..
